  1. I don't know if anybody has said this but i do realise it causes problems for people and people do fall and get hurt by the ice but the key thing for me and the younger lot on here is we are actually living through one of these very cold prolonged snowy spells for the first time, alright i've had a week here and there but i've had snow laying for weeks now and more keeps coming and temps keep dropping....So i find it more of a privilege worth enjoying and battling through sometimes because it is going to be memorable....Skiing in the Pennines in West Yorkshire this weekend, can't wait.
  2. As much as i'm given, And i don't even have the luxury apartment!
  3. Around 7-8inches here, a very good day and the roads we're fantastic after idiotic people decided not to drive painfully stupid! quick journey home although i would like to know from Pennine Ten Foot Drifts AKA Martin what Scapegoat is like.
  4. It'll sort itself out, some really big showers behind it! bingo! (i'm in Yorkshire btw)
  5. Go to Scapegoat hill and just the other side of the hill, a heck of a lot of snow there and totally blocked lanes!
  6. Here here, did you get much last night John? It seemed to stall for a while!
  7. -6.6 here still, it needs to drop more!
  8. A clear day today, a maximum of -2.6 and now the temp is already at -6.6......We will get down below -10 tonight i'm sure we will!
  9. Let's discuss the cold spell shall we and not get into any bickering. Hopefully this week we will all get a fair bit of snow! good for business ya know
  10. We had a foot of laying snow in the last major cold spell in February 2009 but we did do particularly well in the west Huddersfield area. Somewhere near that would be not expected this week but would be fantastic, 8" up the road already at Scapegoat hill so easily over a foot there with some more roads continuing to keep closed.
  11. Well we peaked today at -2.6c and now the temp is down to -3.2 already, If it keeps on dropping and the showers to our slight north east don't get here then we will have a minima below -10 tonight easily.
  12. Quality! I will walk up tomorrow and have some lunch with the missus, a nice treat for her!...and me!
  13. PRetty well i guess Grimsby, a nice top up in Huddersfield...1-2inch at a guess.
  14. You do right Martin, we we're gonna go to the Scape house inn pub today but we forgot our wallets!
  15. Are there any satellite pictures of the UK from today or previous days? Would be interesting to see the snow cover from space!
  16. TBH i find the snow boring when there aren't any hills about anyway, The Pennine moors now are literally white with no vegetation visible at all....They really do look stunning and are well worth the trip over to see.
  17. Yup looking good down here too Pennine, I'll be up your way tomorrow snapping away again, the quarry should have some very deep snow.
  18. Just to note, some of the snow over me is slowly filtering eastwards...I'm near Huddersfield.
  19. Scapegoat hill sapping all the snow here, been light snow for quite a while now.
  20. I can only dream! when you start initially dropping to Slawit on the wiggely bit of road you can turn right onto Quebec road...V shortly after going on there you can turn left and drop down before climbing back up to meal hill? amazing snow up there, if you walk a little further on to the t-junction drop down left to Slawit to snow drift central! The road is totally blocked off.
