  1. Hello, fellow Kilters. Ends estivation. *blinks* OPwhit? Ventures into MOD... Retreats. Still too many numpties... Rummages around in the 'Huge Bag of Winter Goodies'. Finds it: Last third of December looks tasty after the opening skirmishes from this weekend. Bring it on! Proper Winter: welcome back. We have missed you!
  2. Woke up to an overnight low of just 0.1C and a ground frost yesterday morning followed by a mainly cloudy day.The forecast overnight low was a fair bit higher but it was reasonably still with clear skies which must have helped nudge it down. Definitely frost hollow potential for the forthcoming months, methinks.Veggies appear not to have taken too much of a hit which is a bonus. Much milder last night (min 10.2) due to cloud cover and this morning is decentish so far - dry with bits 'n' pieces of sunshine here and there. Will take that and *bank*.
  3. After a low of 5.4C overnight into Tues, last night we reached a low of 2.7C (air temp) under clear skies.Didn't measure the ground temp, but the veggies look to have survived okay this morning.Beeb talked of lows of 2C last night for some of the glens, so guess this place qualifies for that description. Pleasant today: some sunshine and currently 14.9C. Autumnal.
  4. After topping out at 27.0ºC yesterday afternoon (warmest day of the month), we're already up to 24.8ºC here today. Given the sun broke through much earlier today, think we could beat the previous high for the year to date (28.1ºC on Wed 18th June) which would be a fine way to end the current settled spell. It's proper scorchio out!
  5. Another cracking day here and already up to 21.9C, so shaping up to be the warmest day of the week so far. Other than the odd blip (and that's helped the plants), it really has been a cracking July so far, following on from a very good June. Rinse and repeat for August please.
  6. Another brief interruption to the annual estivation to report a third day of sunshine and 'scorchio!' here today.Topped out at 25.3C late afternoon. Summer is quietly delivering the goods this year.
  7. After reaching 25.7ºC yesterday with more cloud than Monday, today has been much sunnier here. Looks like we've hit a maximum of 28.1ºC for the day - properly hot. #smashedit for warmest day of the year so far.
  8. *Breaks estivation* Warmest day of the year here today. Hit a maximum of 25.4ºC and some great sunshine throughout the day. Wee bit cloudier later on this afternoon, but loving this spell of settled summer weather. Long may it continue.
  9. A few snaps from yesterday's drive up to Loch Turret with PG junior to play in the snow. Fab!
  10. A heavy snow shower just now in Crieff after a sunny morning. Remarkably, as it began, the temperature was 8.1C with a DP of -1C, falling to 3.6C/-3C. It would appear winter's not quite finished with us yet.
  11. To keep the Kilted Thread's spirits up (and coz there's still a way to go before winter is truly over), here's a wee snap of Comrie (my soon to be new hame) from Sunday. Am thinking that if it can look like this in a snawless winter, when we eventually do eventually get a good blootering from the snaw, it's gonnae be cracking. Keep the faith, cauldies!
  12. Did someone say snawdance? Gotta be worth a punt.....
  13. Have just wandered into the MOD thread.... *coughs*
  14. Being a (very) simple soul, LS, is it a case of Arctic High: (broadly) good, but it just needs a wee hand the land the yellows and greens (aka "c'mon ra heights!") over Greenland? And then we might - just might - get lucky? So maybe if we all cross our fingers, touch something wooden, pull a few wishbones and then kiss the Blarney stone so we can give the cauld the big chat.... Well, helloooooooo....
  15. Have you been feeding them Lochgelly mogwai after midnight again, Blitzen? Maybe they've taken over the models all winter as well!
  16. Latest Met Office figures confirm that 'winter'* continues to be mild and dreich. http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2014/01/16/mild-wet-winter-continues-in-early-january-figures/ Though not quite as mild for us Kilters as elsewhere. Good to see that the ski centres are doing well, anyway. *soon to be renamed won'ter due to its preponderance of naw.
