  1. Latest Met Office figures confirm that 'winter'* continues to be mild and dreich. http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2014/01/16/mild-wet-winter-continues-in-early-january-figures/ Though not quite as mild for us Kilters as elsewhere. Good to see that the ski centres are doing well, anyway. *soon to be renamed won'ter due to its preponderance of naw.
  2. As a Jags fan, I can relate to the fitba analogy only too well! But never give up!
  3. Plenty of snaw last night on the hills surrounding Crieff and even a covering just outside the town on the road to Muthill but nothing in the town itself. Was just wondering how this winter currently stands compared to the last relatively poor one we had in 2011-12? My perception is that it has generally been worse for all us cauldie Kilters, but that could be my ageing memory playing tricks on me. What's the general view of how the second half of meteorological winter is shaping up amongst fellow Kilters? Snawfest or nawfest? Would even take a few more decent cauld, clear nights at this stage - opps to use the telescope have been extremely limited this winter so far, too. In the meantime, will keep chasing the charts... until Easter! ;-)>
  4. Low overnight of -0.5ºC and a max of 2.7ºC. Kept the bare covering of snow which turned this part of town (Crieff) into a skating rink after the frost overnight. Persisted throughout the day until the rain arrived a couple of hours ago. Heavy cauld rain now. Temp: 2.2ºC/2ºC - looks like we could be on the wrong side of marginal for snaw here this evening. So far*... *technically, this may be a mini-ramp. Much like this:
  5. It's still trying hard to snaw here in Crieff - mixing between wet snaw and freezing rain with a dash of sleet chucked in for good measure. We have managed a bare covering though - just.
  6. In Crieff: a low of -3.2ºC overnight. Frosty this morning and lingering all day, albeit cloudy, too. Temp currently 1.6ºC/0ºC and IT'S SNAWING!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!
  7. in Crieff: trying to be a bit sleety here but mostly cold rain. Thin covering of wet snow on the lower hills beyond the town to the north, but the snowline is pretty close to the summits. Temp/DP holding steady around 3.0ºC/3ºC. So, dark, cold & wet sums it up again. On the upside, it's no' windy! Yet.
  8. "Hi, is that Noah? Just wondering if you'd ever considered setting up a Scottish franchise?" Dreich in Crieff: properly tipping it down, 5.1ºC & dark. Wind is getting up again, too. Lochans forming in the back garden... It's time for the snowdancing to start - & hopefully end this utter p*sh!
  9. A wee Ne'er Day restorative. Current weather in Crieff: 5.0ºC & properly p*shing it down. Again. Bring on a pattern change and some snaw to celebrate the New Year!
  10. To all fellow kilters: A Guid New Year to ane an' a' An' mony may ye see, An' during a' the years to come, O happy may ye be.
  11. A squally 'wintry mix' for the past 10 mins here has left the slightest amount of slush of the grass. Looks like 'lively' few days coming up beginning with Dastardly Dirk Claus, Santa's evil twin.Stay safe, everyone.
  12. Dirk? Not exactly festive, is it? You think they could have mustered up Rudolf? Or Donner and Blitzen? Must be that whacky German humour... ;-)>
  13. Another morning of runs and we've edged 24 hours closer to a potential Ermintude (there won't be many leaves left on that tree behind her). If it verifies, Santa's trip to deliver prezzies to Kiltland is going to be a lively one...
  14. Stonking charts, CMD! Scary, too... How about Ermintrude? ;-)>
  15. It's all looking a bit mild & bleurgh for the next wee while - bit more mobile after the weekend. MOD surprisingly upbeat given the output - no reals signs of TOORPing amidst the strawclutching. It does feel as though we've stepped back to a pre-2008 winter for the moment, but it can all change quickly as we know. Upsides: easier to get around preparing for the Big Festive, nae cancelled fitba & less need to tan the central heating. Plus Santa gets to do this. Possibly. ;-)>Keep the spirits up, Kilters - plenty of winter left yet!
  16. A min of 2.0ºC overnight & the weather station showing the snaw symbol for the first time this season. Woohoo! Currently, a cold & foggy morning here and looking a bit more seasonal for the fireworks tonight.
  17. Look what I found down the back of the fridge...
  18. AWT: 4.0ºC for me please. Doesn't feel 'mild' to me out there. Potential for cold zonal stuff first half of the month, then hints of a cooldown showing.
  19. *blinks* Is it time to wake up yet? Hello, fellow Kilters! Has it started snowing? That's the estivation over for another year. Bring on the snaw!
  20. Blimus! Well chuffed - by the law of averages, had to guess correctly one of these months, I suppose! Thanks to all for their work on the C.E.T. threads - much appreciated.
