  1. Didn't realise until lately just how much denial is still out there. This was an article in fb that got over 1000 laughing emojis. With one comment in the comment section getting over 400 likes. Really makes me angry seeing this type of denial.
  2. al78 excellent lol. That's very true indeed.
  3. ANYWEATHER To your little dig at C02 levels. Its 0.04% actually. Such a small percentage but without it earths average temperature would be around minus 18c. Shows how sensitive the atmosphere is to co2.
  4. One of the things I liked about autumn was the anticipation of the forthcoming winter. Cant even have that anymore. The only anticipation I have during autumn these days is how bloody crap winter will likely be , not much fun. Lol.
  5. lassie23 can't blame you. Feels like we don't get proper seasons anymore. More especially autumn and winter. Those 2 seasons are dying a death.
  6. Got interested in the weather in the first place when I was a kid growing up in the 80s due to the winter season. Nowadays even weeks before the end of winter I often look forward to spring due to the lack of wintery type weather during winter. Our winters have become so bland and boring overall. I have lost alot of faith in winters at this stage. But I will still hope beyond hope that going into next winter and any winter that it might deliver something even though my expectations will be very low.
  7. Dublin this morning VID-20240301-WA0020.mp4
  8. Winters farewell laugh at me. Snowing at my sisters only about a half hour drive away. Just p#ssing rain here with plenty of puddles.
  9. Would April 06 - April 07 be one? April 06 I think was pretty chilly overall , I think more so the first half with some pretty harsh frosts about. April 07 was the warmest on record at that time.
  10. The biggest problem for those that deny climate change is a deep mistrust of politicians and the media on any issue. Unfortunately climate change is a victim of this mistrust. The more evidence that is given the more they see it as more lies and a kind of dogma and anyone who believes it is being brainwashed etc. I think the recession over a decade ago is partly responsible for mistrust. The richer getting richer poor getting poorer. Since then the cost of living gone up aswell etc. From that point of view I can understand their mistrust. They see it as a form of control. Then there is their old argument that climate has always changed and that humans aren't responsible for the current situation.
  11. There are plenty of deniers out there. Any fb articles I see on climate change, the comments sections are filled with deniers comments calling it all bs an agenda etc etc. Same on YouTube videos on the subject.
  12. Think the weather the last yr is down to climate change and El Niño . Perhaps worth mentioning the Hunga Tonga eruption from December 2021.Perhaps all 3 have led to a perfect storm for the last while. So dont know if its the new normal. I doubt it . I would hope things will get a bit better in the next yr or so. But it is clear the overall direction of travel we are heading.
  13. CryoraptorA303 Have to say I'm worried about what the summer has in store for the Northern hemisphere. El Niño lag effect + the background warming etc. Wouldn't be at all surprised for Europe to see its first 50c. With the crazy weather around the globe in 2023. This yr is the one I've been worried about the last number of months.
  14. At the end of the day anyone wrote off this winter back in September wasn't exactly wrong. Despite some of the factors favouring a decent winter. The models , teleconnections and some ramping that went along with it. I thought this winter would be rubbish anyway regardless of September due to El Niño. But the very warm September made me even more convinced. Though even I got a bit sucked into some of the charts and rampings earlier in the winter. Thinking maybe I might be surprised. Nope should have listened to my original thinking.
  15. In the last yr ,not much of a spring, not much of a summer ( though I'm not mad about heat anyway), not much of an autumn and not much of a winter. One thing that got me interested in weather when I was a kid was our seasons. This last yr has been atrocious.
  16. 13c here , dull and damp. The absolute pits.
  17. Came across this comment on a fb comment section on an Irish article that said Jan 2024 was the warmest jan overall across the globe. . There was plenty of comments rubbishing climate change. This one takes the biscuit.
  18. Weatherman_93 yet more above average temperatures. Boring rather then exciting.
  19. Penrith Snow indeed. Growing up in the 80s for example it was cold spells that got me interested in the weather in the first place. The way things have gone with our winters I feel cheated lol.
  20. Feb can be a very depressing time of Yr when the preceeding months have been as poor as they have been for coldies and little on offer for the rest of the month . Another winter down the drain. Its like being stuck in limbo now and waiting for spring to arrive.
  21. feb1991blizzard would be perfect timing for the kids mid term break.
  22. blizzard81 it always seems these days that no matter the situation, how favourable something may be to getting a decent winter it's just the same story every Yr. Yes even a cold Scandinavia has done nothing for us, not yet anyway.
  23. feb1991blizzard just think in a couple of months you won't have to Worry about it. 'WINTER' will be done for another Yr.
  24. raz.org.rain Well since Sept 2022, it's been a very wet period overall ( bar some dryer interludes mid May- mid June last yr for example). Before September 2022 the previous yr was often dry. We seem to go through periods of wet weather for months being replaced by alot of dry weather in recent yrs and visa versa. So I do wonder do we go back to often dry weather in the not too distant future .
