  1. Didn't believe it myself until a few days before it happened lol
  2. If they were told that one day 40c would be recorded in England I'm sure they wouldn't have believed it.
  3. Indeed, to use a phrase 'work to live not live to work'......
  4. God only knows what's in store for 2024 especially if there is a strong nino later this yr.
  5. What about Churchill? 40 - 45 good for winter lovers overall. 51 - 55 probably not bad for winter lovers?? Don't know about the summers for the yrs in question. Edit sorry should have read the question properly, if talking about the last 44yrs or so.
  6. Mount Tambora eruption in Indonesia, April 1815? Lead to the 'Yr without a summer' in. 1816.
  7. The first bit of Halloween stuff on the shelves already.
  8. If only the Greenland high could last all the way to march . No doubt it will be nowhere to be seen come winter.
  9. Holidaying in west Cork this week and next. Today has been one of the better days.
  10. I always think its around now the 25th of July when it starts to become that bit noticeable that the days are getting shorter.
  11. El Nino ' The Child' is a reference to Jesus as the phenomenon is strongest in December / Christmas time.
  12. I find 25c too warm. Rather temperatures in summer in the low twenties then the mid twenties.
  13. It's already been 3 weeks today since the solstice .
  14. The heat dome can stay there as far as I'm concerned or just diminish.
  15. ?? In this day and age aren't temperatures mostly above normal as opposed to below. Just had the warmest June on record etc etc etc
  16. I read that the IOD is forecast to go positive over the coming months. I presume that's not particularly good news for this coming winter, even if it doesn't end up as strongly positive as a few yrs ago.
  17. If the weather is in the mood, dry and not too warm I think late summer can be a lovely time of Yr. With things winding down from the peak of summer to a more mellow feel. The golden fields etc can be a very mellow time of Yr depending on the weather.
  18. Can be the case but at least in August it's not near constant daylight. Hot weather and near constant daylight really does my head in, like being trapped with no escape.
  19. While I don't want any kind of wash out this summer, I'm kinda relieved that no major heat looks likely for the foreseeable. If heat was to arrive next month I don't mind as much as by then it's more bearable and with the nights getting longer. So I feel as someone who isn't particularly fond of heat, this July is like dodging a bullet.
  20. June 2023 the warmest June on record in ireland. No heat spikes or heatwaves needed, just near constant above average temperatures day and night......
  21. The long journey back go winter has begun..........
  22. Only a few more days to go until the boat turns around and we start heading back to shore.
  23. Fair play to June 13th it held out for over 300 yrs lol but in this warming climate even that record had to go.
