  1. True, a place of perpetual autumn lol
  2. Someone posted this map on an Irish weather forum a few days ago showing the max temp records around Europe. You can see the temperatures if you tap and zoom in. Obviously now the uk should read 40.3c
  3. Getting cooler here in Eastern parts of Ireland, not that temps got as high here of course compared to the UK. Still got up to 33.1c yesterday in Dublin, close to the 33.3c record set june 1887 . Ireland has the second lowest max temp record in Europe, Iceland being the lowest. Temperatures here at my location atm 20c.
  4. Sad and disturbing day to see England hitting 40c.
  5. Yes more likely then record cold temperatures anyway I would presume.
  6. Wonder what the 'response' of next winter in the uk will be to the likely record breaking heat in the uk coming up with yet another threshold breached. Another totally crap one? I seriously doubt record breaking cold temperatures anyway. Perhaps more likely record breaking warm temperatures at some point. Admittedly my post maybe a bit ott. But just a thought.
  7. I see one or two on the mod thread are saying the upcoming extreme heat in the uk will be a once in a lifetime event. I really hope so but will it be?? That's the question. Those egging on record warm temperatures should be careful of what they are wishing for imo given what's happening with the climate. It might be only relatively short period this year but what about in the years to Come? A day or 2 this year of that extreme heat could turn into 5 or 6 days for all we know in a few yrs time etc. I understand the excitement of extreme weather as that what makes us weather folk tick, but just not in this instance. I bet many will be looking forward to the cooler temperatures mid next week despite the record chasing bravado. Can't imagine what it will feel like in a big city like London for example in those temperatures. That would be my idea of hell on earth. Feel sorry in particular for the elderly and young children and the parents with young children.
  8. Really hope we can have a seasonal autumn this Yr. Last autumn was pants. Didnt feel seasonal for most of it. Just felt like a write off, had the feeling it would be a write with how warm September was. Winter was a write off aswell. Was a very poor autumn/ winter season. Hopefully better this year. But will it be???
  9. I hope the charts today don't come to fruiton. The temperatures shown for southern England are very disturbing. Some might say we'll its only for a day or 2 but to me it shows the uncharted territory we are in or are entering. All bets are off if those temperatures happen. Some may revel in the possibility of new record breaking temperatures for their area but should really be hoping not to hit the 40s c for as long as possible .....
  10. Wonder will this summer be like many recent ones? The odd plume here and there, very warm /hot for a few days ,every now and again. Like getting summer weather in bits and pieces, but when it's hot it's very hot.
  11. Well I'd say August will be poor enough, it always is these days. At my location anyway. Its like clock work at this stage.
  12. I just want this pathetic excuse of a winter out of the way at this stage. Looking forward to the arrival of spring. That's been my attitude over many recent winters ,very poor winters regarding cold spells and snow. If February isn't going to deliver then its a waste of time, time to move on. It can be depressing this time of Yr especially after many weeks of a winter that delivered nothing and won't deliver anything with what is left of it only poxy wind and rain.
  13. The only extreme I will remember it for is for being extremely crap.
  14. I was only 5 for most of the yr. I have vague memories of that snowy January and February. Remember getting some snow around st Patrick's day and getting some snow in May. That may was the only time I have ever seen snowcover at that time of Yr. Not that it lasted long think it turned slushy fairly quickly. Remember dec 79 it seemed to be rather wet dull month.
  15. Its like our winters in this part of the world have gotten worse in stages. Around 88, then around the late 90s and then around 2014. In 10 - 15 yr intervals. Will we enter an even worse level of rubbish by the end of this decade?
  16. My only remaining hope for this winter is i hope it has some sort of sting in the tail. End of Feb seems to be a time of year that is prone sometimes to delivering something.
  17. Just going by statistics of the last 25 yrs. The statistics in that time period don't lie regarding very warm Septembers and the winters that followed. Certainly for my location anyway. I can count on one hand the number of airfrosts so far this winter for example. Going into this winter many teleconnections pointed to a decent chance of a good winter. Can anyone explain why that failed big time regarding Western Europe? The Arctic has had a decent winter by recent standards there was plenty of cold to go around yet Western Europe missed out. Gavin partridge mentioned the other day in one of his videos was there any point in doing winter forecasts anymore based on teleconnections and thinks this winter was a big wake up call in that regard. Anyway maybe a very warm September in this part of the world in recent times reflects the atmosphere state going into the winter and somehow the atmosphere is preloaded to some degree to deny us much in the way of cold spells during the winter. That's the only possible reason I can think of.
  18. Indeed. I see very warm Septembers nowadays as a kind of teleconnection in itself ( the last 25 yrs or so ) . Why others don't have an open mind on it baffles me.
  19. I'm sure we will pay for all this high pressure sooner or later. Will we get all of spring out of it and then bang it all changes for the summer replaced by low pressure . That would be my guess .
  20. I think we can safely say at this stage that last winter was NOT a teaser winter. Last winter was our bloody winter i think lol.
  21. Well after all is said and done regarding this winter those that got this winter the most correct where those who warned about last September being very warm and the likelihood of a dud of a winter. To me it adds even more weight to the argument.
  22. Wonder is this winter very similar to the ones of the mid 70s which had little snow and plenty of high pressure.
  23. I should have said the last number of warm Septembers seems to be 5 yr intervals starting from 01 onwards.
