  1. After a sub zero mean here yesterday we are at 3.5c so far this month, bang on the 1981-2010 average.

Looks likely we will see the mean drop below average over the coming days as the cold peaks on Thursday.

After seeing this mornings ECM/UKMO my statement that its unlikely Jan will finish below average is looking a bit sketchy!

  2. Yes i drove to work in York around 1.30pm and there were small snowflakes fluttering down. Good job I had my winter tyres on!

Speaking of Snowball Plantation, do you mean the one at the end of Stockton on Forest, if so I used to drive to there when I lived in Heworth as it had a huge security light at the front and it was awesome to the snowfall, sure I have some pics somewhere from 09/10. @yaffle

Hopefully we'll get some decent snow showers here on the coast when the northerly kicks in on Friday. Met warnings for the coast so hopefully not a marginal situation!

I feel snow may be overshadowed here by the immense sea's expected.

High tide Friday pm is at 6.07m. Storm jude was 6.34 and there's a he'll of a lot more fetch this time. Surge with 13-15ft swells expected.

These pics are from today with tide at 5.9m and a westerly!

Tempted to come and have a look Friday morning Paul, could be quite spectacular.

Very jealous of your location as we head into the New Year,  it does look like NE could see some hefty snow showers Sunday overnight into Monday.

Whilst my area is prime for some snow showers, no doubt the best place to be is the North York Moors which sticks out into the sea and eats snow showers for breakfast, dinner and tea!

Not surprisingly, GFS not sending much se so too much going north will likely flatten the ridge somewhat. - bit like what we have upcoming.

Yes but its an improvement on the 12z, so hopefully ECM is leading the way and GFS gradually starts to smell the coffee run by run and catch up. Hopefully its massive mild outlier and the GEFS ens are stellar again :)
