  1. I'm hoping the 6z verifies as this would possibly produce snow showers for my area, after looks at the last few runs i'd set myself up for a snow chase in the North York Moors come the end of the week as I didn't believe the air was cold enough nor the flow was strong enough to bring snow showers inland. Since I've had an interest in weather I've never seen such a set up at this time of year so I'm clueless as to what this may bring. The precip charts are encouraging as they show showers along the North Sea coast but from past experience the GFS is well known for underestimating precip more especially in this type of set up.

  2. Its been a beautiful autumn here so far, some wonderful colours, heavy rain and flooding, strong winds at times, frosty mornings and plenty of fog. A good mixture of weather all setting us up for my favorite season that is winter. Ready for some milder settled days early next week and then hoping for a return to cooler and frosty and we head towards November.

  3. Main difference on the 6z occurs around 99hrs, the low pressure in the Atlantic throw's off a shortwave into southern Greenland preventing the HP over Greenland building southwards. We may still get there as that low once moved east could trigger CAA but it's then being pushed back into the unreliable timeframe so it's likely to change once again. Interesting model watching currently nonetheless :)

  4. 4wd I would say there would of been a possibility of sleet in the highest areas of the NYM around 400m and higher. As you say tho no proof buts it's nice to speculate. Looking forward to seeing the first snows of the year up there. Hoping for a northerly come the end of the month.

  5. Another clear and frosty morning with what looks to be another sunny day ahead, I am making tracks for the golf course soon so should be fun.

Tee'd off at 0800am this morning, weather was cracking but a wee chilly with frost under foot. Some cold temp's out there already, already -0.1c in Chopgate, North York Moors. smile.png

3.9c here hoping for the first air frost tonight!

  6. Looks like pretty bad flooding there now. I wonder how this will compare to the significant flooding which took place in 2000. The Ouse is a pretty big river by British standards.

I don't think it will be as bad as 2000, that was a incredible event. But it definitely could be one of the worst in a while. As I lived in York most of my life I always considered a flood to be bad if it got into Rowntree's Park which is currently under warning and only gets flooded once every few years. Will have to have a look after work tomorrow.

  7. We've had an unusual amount of spiders at home that's for sure, my cat has caught a substantial amount of mice, my blackberry bush is fruiting similar to that of 2009 (loads of fruit but much later than previous years), I can't really comment on the birds though.

Have to agree there, I'm no longer scared of giant spiders as I've dealt with so many this month, and the amount of mice/voles/rats the cats catch is just ridiculous.

I also must comment in regards to winter tires ,I have a Vectra which is quite big and the tires are wide so it was useless in the snow the slightest hill and i was sliding sideways! Then last year was the first year I invested in some since moving out of town into a hilly area and they were fantastic, ploughing up hills as if it was 4WD. Definatly a good choice and will have them at the ready for this winters snowfest :D
