  1. Constant rumbling of distant thunder here now from that storm between Chester and Wrexham. ????? But the rain we’ve had here has been incredible!! ??? Memo to self: need to buy a new pair of wellies!
  2. Today is providing to be a day of extremely heavy thundery downpours, with the odd distant rumble of thunder thrown in. ?⛈?
  3. After last night’s little storm there is a lot of haze and crud about in the air… But in a small break I can see things starting to brew up nicely to my South West/West. ???
  4. Morning everyone. Whilst struggling to sleep due to the heat, I woke up fully around 03:40 with the sound of really heavy thundery rain. But in about the past 10 minutes the sky has been flickering around here, and I’ve also heard some very soft distant thunder. ⛈ There looks to be a small storm over towards Heswall way on the Wirral. This is how the current storm activity stands at 04:43 in the morning.
  5. Morning everyone Although not as cool this morning, I did spot another gentle autumnal mist just hanging over the fields today. ? The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is well underway. ???
  6. Hello everyone I though I'd throw my two peneth worth into this discussion with the CFS weekly anomaly charts. Yes I know its the CFS, but I find that they can be a reasonable good guide. Week 1 - 5th - 11th August: This is basically showing low pressure centered over Northern Ireland and Scotland = Unsettled with showers, longer spells of rain/thunderstorms, and I dare say sunnier bit in between. Week 2 - 12th - 18th August: Low pressure in basically the same position as week one, but it does look weaker... So I'd say the same but with a possible transient ridge of high pressure ???? Week 3 - 19th - 25th August: The UK looks sandwiched in between to large ridges of high pressure, one from the Azores, and a big Scandi high, with a very small area of low pressure over northern France and the South coast... Its possible that this could be a settled(ish) week, but with a risk of thunderstorms moving up from the south. Week 4 - 26th August - 1st September: High pressure from the Azores joining up with the Scandi righ right over the top of us! Is the the start of 'Old Wives Summers'? when high pressure treks from the Azores toward Siberia? Time will tell. As always its the CFS so please take these charts with a gritter full of salt.
  7. Morning everyone. I have to say that there was a beautiful autumnal feel to the start of the day at 04:30 this morning. Single digit minima, heavy dew on the car, and the first signs of the mist just starting to form across the fields on my drive into work. ??
  8. Please ignore my last post/comment… That’ll teach me for scan reading. D’oh!
  9. Just seen this on the U.K. Meto app. It’ll probably change by then, but in the meantime it’s something to look forward too. ?⛈??
  10. @TurnedoutniceagainYou’re a man after me own heart. ?????
  11. It's wet, there's mist and fog drifting in across the hills and fields, plus a threat of gales for some later; it's just a foretaste of what's to come and it's absolutely glorious. ?️?️
  12. Morning everyone. Last night at 01:03 we finally left the world of the lingering twilight for another year. Speaking as someone who really isn't keen on the overhead summer sun, this for me is something worth celebrating.
  13. Morning @Turnedoutniceagain Yes, I noticed that it was a tad backendish out this morning. Bring it on!!
  14. I’ve got loads of distant thunder here now. ??? This is the current state of how things are across the U.K. at the moment.
  15. Some really impressive skies around here at the moment. ? Sadly haven’t heard any thunder today… But my lightning detector thingy on my phone has gone off quite a few times… So there is still plenty of hope. ???
  16. Morning everyone ??? Things are starting to brew up around here. ??? Plus it looks like something is trying to kick off just off the North Wales coast. ?????
  17. Morning everyone Just thought I'd add my 2 peneth worth with the weekly CFS charts. Now for some reason these didn't update yesterday, so these are a day old... But the latest info that's available. Week 1: 27th July - 2nd August - Low pressure over the UK and also slightly too our east, with high pressure stretching out over Greenland and the North Pole. Week 2: 3rd - 9th August - Low pressure still over the UK but also stretching over towards Scandinavia, and (although weaker) stretching across the Atlantic and into North Western Canada! The Azores high out in the Atlantic. Week 3: 10th - 16 August - Low pressure centred over and just slightly to the north of Scotland. The Azores high heading out into the Mediterranean. Week 4: 17th - 23rd August - There looks to be a signal for the Azores high to be out to our South West, also high pressure over Eastern Scandinavia, and heading into Russia. Nothing immediately obvious over us here in the UK, so read into that what you will. My personal take on this is August is looking unsettled, and dare I say autumnal? Now I know that's not what most folk on here what to see, but I can only say what I'm seeing, and remember this is the CFS.
  18. This storm appears to be re-igniting now it’s getting over towards the Wirral! ⛈??
  19. Morning everyone Through the haze, I can see that I’ve got towers going up to my west at the moment… Will it go bang? I certainly hope so! ?⛈?????? Top image is tweaked so that you can see the towers easier. Bottom image is what I can actually see. (Untweaked) As ever… Good luck to everyone with this today and tomorrow.
  20. Morning @Chris.R I do hope so mate… feeling really quite cheated and storm starved here, especially after that heatwave went out with a whimper.
  21. Morning @Lance M Hey, no offence taken, and I understand exactly where you're coming from. I'm quite strange... I admit that I don't like the overhead sun in the summer, and I find the fact that the none stop light an irritation. But once the solstice has passed, I do look forward to that run into autumn, as I genuinely love this time of year. But once we've passed Halloween and Bonfire night, I start to fell as though we've got too much darkness, and start looking forward to the Winter solstice so that we can start to gain a bit of daylight again. I suppose for me the ideal time is around the equinoxes so its 12 hours of sunlight, and 12 hours without... As once we get into April again, I start craving the extra darkness. So I do fully understand where you're coming from. ??
  22. Has anyone else noticed that since that heatwave of last week finished on Saturday, the annual autumn spider invasion has resumed with a vengeance? ?️
