  1. Morning everyone Just thought I'd add my 2 peneth worth with the weekly CFS charts. Now for some reason these didn't update yesterday, so these are a day old... But the latest info that's available. Week 1: 27th July - 2nd August - Low pressure over the UK and also slightly too our east, with high pressure stretching out over Greenland and the North Pole. Week 2: 3rd - 9th August - Low pressure still over the UK but also stretching over towards Scandinavia, and (although weaker) stretching across the Atlantic and into North Western Canada! The Azores high out in the Atlantic. Week 3: 10th - 16 August - Low pressure centred over and just slightly to the north of Scotland. The Azores high heading out into the Mediterranean. Week 4: 17th - 23rd August - There looks to be a signal for the Azores high to be out to our South West, also high pressure over Eastern Scandinavia, and heading into Russia. Nothing immediately obvious over us here in the UK, so read into that what you will. My personal take on this is August is looking unsettled, and dare I say autumnal? Now I know that's not what most folk on here what to see, but I can only say what I'm seeing, and remember this is the CFS.
  2. This storm appears to be re-igniting now it’s getting over towards the Wirral! ⛈??
  3. Morning everyone Through the haze, I can see that I’ve got towers going up to my west at the moment… Will it go bang? I certainly hope so! ?⛈?????? Top image is tweaked so that you can see the towers easier. Bottom image is what I can actually see. (Untweaked) As ever… Good luck to everyone with this today and tomorrow.
  4. Morning @Chris.R I do hope so mate… feeling really quite cheated and storm starved here, especially after that heatwave went out with a whimper.
  5. Morning @Lance M Hey, no offence taken, and I understand exactly where you're coming from. I'm quite strange... I admit that I don't like the overhead sun in the summer, and I find the fact that the none stop light an irritation. But once the solstice has passed, I do look forward to that run into autumn, as I genuinely love this time of year. But once we've passed Halloween and Bonfire night, I start to fell as though we've got too much darkness, and start looking forward to the Winter solstice so that we can start to gain a bit of daylight again. I suppose for me the ideal time is around the equinoxes so its 12 hours of sunlight, and 12 hours without... As once we get into April again, I start craving the extra darkness. So I do fully understand where you're coming from. ??
  6. Has anyone else noticed that since that heatwave of last week finished on Saturday, the annual autumn spider invasion has resumed with a vengeance? ?️
  7. Just had an unexpected (but very welcome) big rumble of thunder from this beast to my south! ?????
  8. Apparently there’s been a lightning strike around the Neston area of the Wirral! ???
  9. Just got gone from work, but with the current heat and humidity here it feels horrible out! But this is my sky looking west towards the Clwydian range.
  10. Morning O’fellow autumn lovers. ?? Well, despite the grimness of this current heatwave, this morning on my whilst out walking the dog, I noticed autumn popping it’s head over the metaphorical parapet! ? The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is slowly but surely starting to get underway, as the creeping tendrils of mist once again start stalking the fields and lanes. ? ????
  11. Evening everyone There is a monster of a storm cloud that I can see over towards the Liverpool - Warrington area! ? This is my view of it.
  12. I can see the tops of those cells over towards Nottingham/Sheffield way from over here! ?⛈??
  13. Hello everyone. Well I certainly wasn’t expecting to see anything exciting happening today, so I’ve spent most of the day inside sheltering from the heat. So imagine my surprise to see this lot bubbling up to my south!! Sadly I don’t think it’ll go bang, (although I’d love it to. ?⛈??) but it’s still nice to see the potential.
  14. Time and Date is a most excellent website! ?? I check it most days and note with great satisfaction that for my location we've currently lost 20 minutes of sunlight in the mornings, and 13 minutes of sunlight at the evening end of the day! Plus we're currently loosing about 2mins 30 seconds, and accelerating!
  15. Hello everyone. Though I'd add my two peneth worth to this discussion today using the CFS. Week 1 - 16th - 22nd July: This shows high pressure firmly over the top of us, which is what's been forecast and is indeed happening. Week 2 - 23rd - 29th July: This shows high pressure still more or less over the top of us, (albeit slightly weaker) but more out to the Atlantic as well. Week 3 - 30th July - 5th August: Well the high pressure has scuttled off to eastern Europe, and out in the Atlantic! So with nothing showing over the top of us here in the UK, its either going to be a weak trough of low(er) pressure, and just sunshine and showers? Week 4 - 6th - 12th August: Low pressure to the North of Scotland, and a ridge of high pressure over towards the Bay of Biscay. To my amateur eyes I'm saying that we could be in a westerly flow off the Atlantic by then. But as always 4 weeks a way is a long way out in weather terms! So reading between the lines... This coming week is going to be hot and sunny, with the possible (hopefully thundery) breakdown occurring between the 23rd and the 30th July. Then we go into a more Atlantic driven régime from then on. As always this is the CFS, so please take it with a gritter load of salt, and if I've read this charts wrong, then I shall offer myself for public beatings and floggings.
  16. Hello @East Lancs Rain I'm afraid so... Well, certainly here in North East Wales the spider invasion has started! ?️?️ I was speaking to a couple of my work colleagues, and they've also commented on the annual spider invasion. ?️?️ Ahh well... Time to dig out the jam jar and the piece of paper... ?️
  17. Talking of signs of autumn, ( @Turnedoutniceagain has put a good list up) I saw my first Lord’s ‘n’ Ladies of the season today, just nestled amongst the nettles and undergrowth. These are always a good harbinger of autumn. Also today I noticed the (what seems like) the overnight replacement of elder flowers with elder berries! So if you fancy making some elderberry wine… Get your demijohns ready. ?? Also… Now I don’t know if this is only affecting my neck of the woods… But it looks like the annual spider invasion has started! ??
  18. Keep the faith @Freeze... It will happen!... One year. That's the spirit @Weatherman_93?? You and me both @Seasonal Trim ??
  19. It’s never too early for us autumn lovers to talk about autumn. Sorry @Sunny76 but it looks like we’re gonna have to do the adult thing, and agree to disagree on this one.
  20. YAY!! My favourite thread!! The autumn thread is open for another year!! Oh, I'll have a nice large helping of autumn this year if I may please, with lots of mist and fog, and a fair few of those gentle autumn days that have a smokey appearance to the air but with temperatures not exceeding 16° Celsius . A Halloween fog like win 2015 would be most welcome, or a foggy spell like we had in November last year. Then for desserts can I have a few proper autumn storms with lashings of rain and strong, gale force winds, (like the storm that we had on the 27th October 2002). ?? I know that summer has gotten one or three nasty tricks still up its sleeve, but the nights are getting longer again, and for those fellow shift workers/Disciples of Dracula the darkness is now coming along at a fair ole pace in the morning, and the evening are starting to get a little darker around the 22:00 mark as well! I'm so looking forward to waking up one morning to find that we've got a proper autumnal 'nip in the air'. Ohhhh I'm getting all misty and dewy eyed thinking about it. The summer sun is fading as the year grows old And darker days are drawing near...
  21. A very oppressive afternoon here in North East Wales The sky is building up nicely… Much more promising looking than last weekend! Sadly I don’t think it’s gonna go bang… But still nice to see things brewing up. ?
  22. Hold my hands up, I wasn’t expecting anything today. So I was quite surprised when I noticed that the humidity suddenly went through the roof, and I noticed this convective cloudscape starting to brew up over towards Chester way. ?
