YAY!!! SNOW SHOWER HERE!
- 2
-
As I expected, the 2nd phase of strong winds didnt last long here.
Now, the latest Meto symbols seem to suggest a few flakes of snow for the big day itself just reaching the West Midlands in the morning. Could we get a technical white Christmas? Will be close!

This is just the warm up for Friday!

Trend still seems to be taking this more North with each run imo.

Yes indeed - my twitter timeline is bursting with updates about flooding and downed trees. Going to be a big clear up needed to get things moving again in the morning. Rain has eased here considerably - is this just a lull or is the worst over for us?
Worst of the rain has gone now but a few showers to pass through soon by the looks of it.

Pirate FM travel news really emphasises the chaos on the roads tonight, power cuts, trees down, lots of flooding. The list is huge from Liskeard to St Just, from Newquay to the Lizard, there are problems everywhere!

Suddenly gone very gusty again here. This phase shouldnt last long though.

Good grief, I am saddened to read how childish some are in here. There are numerous people in danger tonight, a couple of people have already sadly died and the worst is yet to come yet all some people can do is encourage argument over North v South debates. Seriously, some need a reality check and actually realise what is really important here. This is really bringing this part of the forum down at the minute. Times like these should encourage understanding and respect for others, not selfish IMBY type bickering.
Cannot believe at the amount of grown adults arguing over the most petty thing here. Sorry for the rant but its needed.
The KEY thing is STAY SAFE WHEREVER YOU ARE and check on anyone vulnerable. Goodwill at Christmas and all that. Just remember, and be grateful you are in a better position than those grieving over lost loved ones today.
Please take a moment to think about what your typing and allow for some courtesy. Its not all about what your location is receiving, the wider picture is also important.

For Friday the GFS 12Z had one of the 'least windy' solutions. Most of the ensembles seem to go for a deeper low thus probably winds are likely to be stronger than shown by the OP. So in reality little change from the 06z most likely.
-
12z moving the Friday storm North again. Time for change but seemingly likely this one will be reserved mostly for the North again.

Torrential rain now. Some sort of squall developing?

Really quite gusty out there for our location. Making it hard to drive with the rain too.
-
Not quite as windy as forecast for around this time it seems in most places so far in xcweather.

Just had a long rain shower here. Pretty gusty too.

Some very strong gusts as that squall past through earlier!
-
VERY ICY tonight. Untreated roads could be bad in the morning. Take care all.
-
Sadly I think the band came through a little earlier than I expected in the end. However it seems there maybe at least 1 more shout at something wintry before the end of next week.
-
Sleet in the heavier bursts here.
-
Still rain in stourbridge
-
Some rain starting in Stourbridge. Hopefully the ppn should begin to drop the temps.
-
Rain again now- as for cheering up well I do try, but after over 20 years here and so many letdowns optimism doesn't come easily. Remember Christmas Day 1999 with its one sleet shower- that was it for wintry precipitation that winter :-)
At least it fell on the most important day of the year.
