Hell of a hail storm!Pictures courtesy of twitter friends :-)
And it all happened here in Falmouth. Although it was a nightmare to drive in, it was great to see it.

To be fair we have had a fair share of good weekends this year too.

Wrong thread! was horrendous today for a time
Nope I meant to post it in here to show the comparison with the uninteresting Midlands!

What an exciting first day back in Falmouth! Some of the heaviest rain I've ever seen which didn't stop for 30mins, hail, thunder, lightning, road flooding. And it's pouring again now!

Pouring in Falmouth again now. Radar shows a band of heavy but very slow moving rain beginning to pass over. Not as torrential as over but a prolonged spell now beginning.
-
The fire service are pumping water off the moor in Falmouth due to
Flooding apparently. Now passed over.

Mental conditions here. Extremely heavy rain for over 15 mins now, hail thrown in and the odd flash and rumble to boot. Just driven up the very steep old hill in Falmouth. Serious river like
Conditions there.
-
Thunder and lightning in Falmouth and Penryn now.

Very very nasty downpour here. Thunderstorm just out at sea a little near Lizard point.
-
Yes not too bad here actually in Falmouth with sunny spells. Just a couple of showers earlier.
-
Back in Falmouth now so thankfully dont need to endure the moaning in this thread till Christmas anymore hehe. Will pop in now and again but for now, enjoy your cloud folks.
-
Yay im back in Falmouth till Christmas now. (Though in Woolacombe, Devon next week only). Thundery showers lingering off the coast. One fairly close to the Scilly Isles though.
-
Turned out rather hot this afternoon as it reached 27c.
-
Some wispy high cloud here but predominantly clear blue sky. 26c
-
Cloud has been very stubborn so far but sat24 suggests much clearer conditions not far away now.

This requote is purely for the benefit of those with defective/selective eyesight...
Whilst inter model and inter run detail has and will continue to change, the overall picture looks pretty grim once we get beyond midweek, with much of September now possibly being written off IF things set up as currently indicated.
No need to be so patronising. Yes you said possibly but to be honest everything is a possibility for our weather. At the start of July I could have said that month would be a write off because some were refusing to accept HP in charge. I could say at the start of October it could be a write off and for November... and for December.... for all months actually. So whats the point of making such statements on the 3rd of the month when its obvious the amount of uncertainty. It could possibly turn out to be an amazing month....
Im not having a go here, I just think im making a fair point.

Yep, brightening up quite nicely now. If its some comfort conor, Sat24 shows much of the SE under cloud too.
Back to Kernow this Thursday and a brief holiday in Devon too. So hopefully I can get away from any advances that the Shropshire cloud tries to make.

How on earth can you make that statement? Is the continuous chopping and changing not obvious enough to notice that things are uncertain??? I certainly wouldnt want to forecast beyond Saturday at present!!! Its only the 3rd September. C'mon, you know better than that Shed. Things have changed lots within a day so with 27 days left of the month, how many more times is it going to change!!!

Oooh I should known, I knew it, my last day to get any sun in and BAM 100% cloudcover with NO sign of breaking up despite even the 06z showing 24c!
Just watch tomorrow and Thursday be cloudless to twist the knife
Cloudy here too but its the cloud whill burn off quickly. Sat24 shows we are near the edge of it. Sadly for you Conor, no such luck. Tomorrow looks fantastic.
-
Yep, what a cracking day in the end and a lovely warm evening to boot. 24c max.

I was thinking of relocating to Cornwall for that reason haha, about as far west as possible like Penzance but it seems the cold has a habit of following me and Cornwall would probably get snowy like it did in January 1987.
Indeed, im right on the coast too in Falmouth. Last winter it dipped below 0c on 1 occasion I think.

Will barely need heating at all over the winter in Cornwall. Far far less than most of the country.
-
Normal service has resumed now. 21c and much sunnier.
-
Pretty cool at 18c today and quite a bit if cloud. Some blue sky but it should be getting in for 22c by now.

Nowhere in the UK can beat the downpour we endured here in Falmouth today. 45 minutes of non stop torrential rainfall, the odd flash and rumble and hail. I didnt see the worst of the hail though the video and photos are only from a mile or 2 away from us.
Best of all, those pictures are more wintry looking than the 12 hours of snow could deliver us in January this year!
Would Land/Sea convergence have played any role in sustaining the cell for so long. I know steering winds in the upper levels were light today over Cornwall so showers were already slow moving but generally light winds promote convergence dont they?
