  1. It’s November 1st that now gets to me! Being plunged into a dark tunnel for weeks on end. It does help if the weather is bright and crisp allbeit cold and frost , I don’t mind that with some cozy nights in my home , but it’s the notorious grey days in the Winter months along with semi darkness in the day which seem nowadays and as I’ve got older seem to effect my mood more than ever
  2. One of the most confusing charts I've seen
  3. To be honest ,no model has got this sorted as regards precipitation. UKV has changed its precip forecast for Friday from not too bad in the south to now to torrential rain.......
  4. On for the first time today since last Spring. Reluctantly put it on after the other half was moaning she was cold. , ! Only on low though
  5. Too many warnings ,it all gets diluted with all the rest of the media nonsense these days. Won't belong before they put a warning up for Devastating Drizzle!
  6. There was snow in the Sahara a year or two back, first time in gererations , so current warming or no current warming it happens☺
  7. Air frost in a good number of places ,and tonight will be even colder! 0c/32f just outside Pershore early on.....
  8. Better make the most of the next two/three days, looks YUK after that ,with yet more rain, October is going to turn out very wet....
  9. And a beautiful crisp Autumn morning with a frost but sparkling sunshine to wake up too!.
  10. Amazing how a robust high predicted on the gfs 06z for next Saturday disappears just two days later...
  11. Probably the best October charts I've seen for many years during this weekend! Fast forward to next week Ecm has the Scandi high demolish the Atlantic...from the uk .?
  12. Now this is what I call a perfect October's Autumn chart......Menu:- Starters :- Jack Frost .. Main course :-Mellow Mists And fruitfulness. .Deserts :- Sunshine
  13. Yep temperature plummeting and defining back edge to that front signaling a potent change of airmass!
  14. It’s always a bit warmer in Autumn the lag effect from summer, ……….just like spring , when we can have frosts well into May and early June , the sun is becoming as strong as it gets by then , but it’s the lag effects from the Winter.
  15. We have had loads of frosts last winter and indeed into spring. Last December saw severe frosts minus 10 to 14c which done a lot of damage to hedges and bushes and plants .
  16. Round two of the rain soon has the occlusion moves southeast and peps up a bit. Much colder air behind that occluded front ,but looking forward too some crisp sunny days after some rounds by Jack Frost.....Proper Autumn , October the month of mellow mists and fruitfulness. ....
  17. Never use weather apps , IMHO total waste of time...
  18. Yes, I use it ,well it worked last time I used it anyway......☺
  19. Your location is Exmoor , so I would presume it's something to do with orographic lifting?
  20. Usual caveats with this situation. Models often overdo the energy building the Scandi blocking scenario ,some under do the energy. Timeless situation in these synoptics. As per usual the gfs is again wobbling all over the place, so ecm may well be barking up the right tree!
  21. Interesting synoptics nontheless, whether the weather ends up being colder or milder next week is still up in the air , but the usual invigorating Atlantic firing up at this time of year ,looks like taking a breather!
  22. I've seen gfs and ecm falter time and time again over Scandi high development over the years. As I said before its the shape of that high which will allow the UK either get cold or mild weather......I think it's 50/50 at the moment .....!☺
