  1. In all fairness to Matt, he wasn't dictating how the weather should be ,he was just saying what the weather looks like it will be in the near future, which looks like panning out very Novemberish! Yes ,he like me prefers seasons to be seasonal and that's what's on offer in the days ahead. The longer the cold is locked up in the Artic where it really should be at this time of year in relation to the UK, then generally better for us when Winter does bite....but not just yet!☺
  2. Glad I've seen this! Thought something was wrong with my Ipad! Must admit it ,I don't like it either, seems wasted space to the right hand side of me as I'm typing, please can we have an option to turn it off or revert back to the original? Thanks ☺
  3. Well I would call it cold outside tonight and all I'm glad I haven't ventured out ...... A proper November's night
  4. Well 9c under the rain in November is about as exciting as getting Flu, which I'm recovering from! Was going to take a photo, but of what! Cheerless Nimbo Stratus clouds and rain ....Nooooo
  5. Lots of lines on the charts this morning, and yup, it's November. Can't see anything but usual fest for this time of year ,with a powerful Jet Stream , digging itself into Europe at times as well, so nothing remarkable with temperatures around average, so milder air limited, as warm sectors coming off the Atlantic seem to be short and sweet! Again plenty if rain to come ,but moving swiftly on in strong winds at times. The Ecm picticularly shows the jet stream buckling enough to hold sway slightly to the Atlantic next weekend and deliver something below average in temperature terms ,but for now The Atlantic is King for a rough and wild roller coaster at times....! Thanks Matt. Always a good read from you !☺
  6. Well better than yesterdays overcast skies but just cannot stay dry!
  7. Models are good at predicting zonal weather ,just like it picked up the wind storm days ago, but blocking scenarios, they are useless ,and I have little or no faith in their output ,until it gets to T+0 !
  8. The models I think performed very well with the track of the low and development and implications. Probably 8 out of 10 ☺
  9. Same effect as a long wave trough with smaller short wave troughs in its circulation.
  10. Actually if you have a look at it , it’s part of the same storm system or low pressure system which is the name of this thread! It’s formed a secondary low with its circulation.
  11. How did the human race survive up to now without warnings?
  12. The problem is we live in a nanny state. My parents were brought up in the 1947 and 1963 winters, they just gritted their teeth and got on with it , today’s generation are being brought up a bunch of wussies, not being allowed to make their god given right of their own decisions. Makes me wonder how the human race has survived up to now. No wonder common sense is lacking into days society ,
  13. The storm is now starting to ease, still blowy across Cornwall and Devon for a few hours this morning and across the coastline of Kent and Sussex, but that’s it Folks , Storms a gonna!
  14. They forget all the past weather disasters such as the American dust bowl which saw three million refugees move west to California. It’s certainly a nanny state here !
  15. For most schools around here they are on half term anyway
  16. The worst of the winds look they have peaked has expected over the Channel Islands. 100mph at Jersey airport 3hours ago…
  17. It's northern France and the channel Islands which are going to bear the brunt of it ,it's been modelled for days now...
  18. A boat is about as good without its rudder as a chocolate teapot. And yes a rudder steers the boat! Happy Sailing
