  1. Markus03 very unusual for the Alps back between 1940/60 to have a record lack of snow ……
  2. cheese that’s your opinion, it doesn’t make it everyone else’s. I gave you a statistic and they were saying back then the same as you are saying now. Anyway enough of that debate
  3. WYorksWeather with those synoptics back then, the temperature would of passed 20c/68f . It's very plausible given the right conditions. ...☺
  4. cheese Rubbish. If you look at the Snowless Winters for instance ,the Alps had this scenario statisticaly between 1940 and 1960, perhaps not completely snow less ,but during those years low snow fall for this area. . Nothing new with fluctuations in snowfall over the decades and centuries. ☺
  5. WYorksWeather well if the conditions had been just right and hadn't been cloudy it would have easily been a record warm day ....with temperatures above 20 c !☺
  6. I dare say that if that happened today ,they would blame climate change for it !
  7. Well not according to the ecm 00z and gfs 00z. But this feature is likely to go south rather than north, but depends how it deepens ,if it deepens more will go north ,less so and it stays south. ....
  8. I mentioned last week ,as the pattern change takes place ,Iberia will see Biblical rainfall during March and April, nothing to do with teleconections, but I have been told in confidence! Watch this space...?
  9. Given we are on the doorstep of March ,it will be just typical that when we want Spring and warmer weather to come ,these synoptics charts will probably verify even that far out!
  10. Must admit ,I don't mind a few chup sausages.......
  11. Indeed Tilly. Looks like the Atlantic is by and large the winner, although winds swinging into a more northwesterly,so hills and mountains seeing some wintry stuff especially northern hills....Plain rain for others although southeast Britain should see the lions share of any dry weather. Yesterdays models looked more cyclonic than they did today ,so still plenty of umph in the jet, but it does look like Winter this year will go even without a wimper !
  12. Probably ,turning colder by day ten then....ecm and gfs start to remove high pressure from southern Europe. Watch out ,for some brutal weather across southern Europe by late March into April. Flooding and snow will be making the news and that's just the start....! The UK, on the periphery of drier , colder weather ,but lots of sunshine. As the PV weakens given the time of year ,winds turn more northerly and perhaps easterly .......
  13. Still people , not prepared to let the cold go now . Snow on hill or mountaintops won’t float the boat for most people in here . Spring Cold is different to Winter cold . Anyway more warm spring days ahead even though it’ll be washed down with some cold rain
  14. The writing on the wall for winter has been there for quite a while now, and this morning we are hammering the last nail in the coffin in my opinion. The SSW, won't have any implications for winter ,maybe Spring, but far too much emphasis on this phenomenon for my liking. The Atlantic appears to be king once again in the days ahead ,with brief ridges in between.
  15. Given our crumbling infrastructure, A two week hot spell will give the water boards a good excuse for restrictions.
  16. I think many on here will go a step further, Zero confidence on model output as regards a very cold spell.
  17. Indeed! I think forecasting as a whole as stepped back in the last few years as regards reliability in just a few days ahead and precipitation forecasts seem to be very inaccurate even in a small timeframe. Best thing to turn to and is reliable is the rainfall Radar at least you know what’s coming and going…
  18. Probably ,by April ,we will be looking at a CET closer to February's
  19. From a purely personal aspect ,I would love the day ten ecm to verify. I don't want any deep cold ,rain ,snow ,gales ,drizzle , dark clouds ,sleet ,freezing rain, wind chill or anything that resembles what this filthy winter has delivered to us for the past three months......! That ecm chart ,would delicious, clear starry frosty nights ,but ,pleasantly warm days in the sunshine. Strong Diurnal temperatures given the time of year. If I think of a Spring chart ,this would be the one......☺
