  1. A request, as many of us are on mobiles, please can you put your locations in your text? temps falling nicely in Reigate - 0.4c - dp -0.9c
  2. Fairly persistent snizzle / sleety pellety something in Reigate. 1.2c dp -0.2c
  3. While it looks like the end for this spell (or nearly - it’s still -0.7c here - will it stay below freezing until midnight to get another ice day?), I’ll leave you with this picture of Mrs Plum pulling the younger son back from sledging...
  4. Snow is coming down nicely in Reigate covering all surfaces - would expect the same even in Horley!
  5. We definitely had freezing rain here in Reigate - I walked over to Earlswood Lakes for some sledging - on the way back, the paths were lethal - the lake had also frozen further! currently, frozen pellets mixed with some snow... My sister has just driven from Colchester to horsham without incident so you should be ok!
  6. About to see if we can find a slope with some snow on it nearby - hopefully not too slippy a walk!
  7. Looks like it’s drizzling in Reigate - hoping it’s not freezing rain!
  8. The difficulty you have is when they go the other way. Virtually all schools are closed in Surrey (despite Reigate having no more than 2cm of snow). This is from a teacher at my boys’ school... ‘I saw this on a surrey information page. This is why the schools are closing. Surrey County Council: We have just had a conference call with the MET office, Emergency Management Team and various Surrey agencies, and have received the following information: The snow has been worse than expected and they are therefore extending the Amber alert for Wind and Snow to cover all of Surrey. This will be in place until 08.00 tomorrow morning. We can expect between 5 to 10 cm of snow tonight, heavy until midnight and then lighter, but another flurry mid-morning. There is a small risk of freezing rain.’ that’s from last night - it transpires that the amber warning didn’t need to be extended; consequently dozens of schools are shut...
  9. Hi Tom, i would say that there is ‘some’ snow forecast this afternoon, maybe an inch or two after the upper air temp comes down a bit but it’s likely to stay below freezing nearly all day so limited thawing (potential for freezing rain). Tomorrow looks like a thaw will set in though.
  10. One of the teachers at my boys’ school in Reigate copied this onto a Facebook page... ’I saw this on a surrey information page. This is why the schools are closing. There is a small risk of freezing rain.’ - that was from last night - most schools in Surrey are closed because of an inaccurate warning... @West is Best - relevant for your thread perhaps...
