  1. The latest radar grab suggests a very wet afternoon for south East and East Anglia which is at odds with the met office forcast of showers affecting the coasts. Have the models upgraded this afternoons rain?
  2. A very large bank of cloud is moving its way over East Anglia as we speak off the north Sea. Typical
  3. Interesting post knockereview as this is very likely to increase the uncertainty with our model outlook.
  4. Apparently the tenders won't go out untill the autumn anyway so it doesn't sound a done deal yet.
  5. Whilst here just 20 miles from Cambridge it was warm and often sunny. Funny how localised our weather can be. Warm again tomorrow and warmer still on Saturday. Lovely.
  6. With predicted highs of 27c (00z gfs) across the south then there is no reason to be so downbeat. Also gfs usually underestimates highs by 1 - 2 c.
  7. The GFS has consistently been showing a finger of heavy rain moving up over south east England East Anglia during the morning and afternoon tomorrow. The 6z has further upgraded this and moved it a little further west. Any idea why this hasn't been mentioned on forecasts as it looks like writing off most of tomorrow for outdoor activities?
  8. Thanks for the informative post. Does this mean that there is a wedge of warmer air a few hundred / thousand feet up before it drops of up to the 850hpa level?
  9. I wonder if some of the more knowledgeable can help me out on this. I'm under one of those showers affecting north Essex as we speak. I have an outside temperature of -1.2c and it was clear and frosty until this shower arrived. We have a dp of -0.5c and uppers of -8c. Somehow it is raining. The water is freezing on contact but it is most definitely rain. Where is the warm air coming from in the atmosphere to melt the snow on its journey to the ground? I thought it might be the sea but the air with current wind direction is having to track across about 60 miles of land which should allow it to cool especially and we have very light winds.
  10. The showers on the Radar seem be appearing over East Anglia rather than dying. I did very well earlier out of that snow as we didn't get any rain in the mix. We have around 1.5" here.
  11. Just drove through it. Unfortunately just rain. Temperatures fluctuated between 3c in the rain and 2c in between the showers.
  12. Fantastic storm now for nearly an hour. Virtually no rain yet so I am able to sit outside watching this. It is still reading 24c and it feels almost tropical with the humidity!
  13. Very heavy showers interspersed with strong sunshine. Very warm and humid at 24c
  14. Touching on the subject of shops opening on bank holiday s I have chosen to close our stove shop for Easter (although we are open tomorrow). The number of customers who have been shocked that we are closing has been surprisingly high but at the end of the day I have two small children and family time comes first. I did open on a bank holiday a few years back and no one turned up anyway!
  15. I was rather surprised earlier to see a plume of dust behind a tractor driving down a track that just 8 days ago was covered by the flooding river stour. Amazing how quickly things can dry up.
  16. Hi Pat, great to see another member from the States on Net-Weather! Keep us updated as we don't have anyone from your area.
  17. Power out here in north Essex. Just saw a huge blue flash across the sky to the south and the power came on for a second or so.
  18. Hi Paul, well the option isn't actually there anymore to click or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
  19. On the radar features I have the lost the ability to view the accumulation charts. Is there any particular reason for this and how do I sort it out please?
  20. Electricity and internet has been restored. Even though it's only been 36hrs it's felt like days!
  21. I saw that there were some severe storms throughout the Midwest in the boundary between the much cooler air out to the northwest and the warmer air to the south east. Here is some fantastic footage of one of the storms taken from a passenger jet. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ba7_1381006224
  22. Am I right in thinking the northeast US and Canada are looking at a significant cool down?
  23. Was that your warmest day of the year? I am now watching this thread with real interest to see when your weather changes. We have a holiday home in the lakes of Ontario and if you visit in late September then it can be anything between -5c and + 30c but generally it is a warm settled month, especially in southern Ontario. That said, the very south of Ontario is more like northern Spain in terms of it's summer climate.
  24. 21.2c, deep blue cloudless skies. Simply as good as it gets.
  25. I was just looking at the gfs after having not viewed it in a day or so and thinking how much the weekends low/unsettled spell had been turned down with well above average temperatures for most of England and Wales as soon as Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Weekend also looking mostly sunny.
