  1. Fortunately that's not the company i work for. But if things stay on track and on course i can see a lot of travel problems monday morning.
  2. Those timings are disastrous for me MK..I work on the railway and am out in the open unfortunately i don't finish my shift until 2am monday morning. Have a funny feeling it's not going to go to plan work wise. If track and intensity stays on course then please all stay in and safe. Grounds already saturated it won't take much to cause major problems.
  3. John,You will be foolish to commit to such a complex situation. Just sit back and keep watching. This is not your straight forward deep area of low pressure. The area of low pressure actually develops a lot closer to the uk than normal storms do. So instead of starting off miles out it starts quite close down south. In order to reach its full potential as output has shown it has got to 'bomb' that will be the key difference between a bog standard 'Windy and wet day' to a quite possibly 'Memorable storm' we will not know any specific details until at least Saturday evening I feel. Must admit though that it is a very interesting situation.
  4. Correct me if i am wrong nick.Yes the low has moved a touch further north however if that track stays the same would it not be worser as opposed to the low going further south. Further north this evening places those south of the M4 right in the firing line. Just a tad confused with the we're not out of the woods yet comment?
  5. Or north for a more 'Direct Hit' fascinating nonetheless.
  6. It's a warning yes. However predicting the strength of the wind is foolish until the low has actually 'bombed' if indeed it comes off at all. At this stage there is so many variations on what may or may not happen. It is however making me sit up and take notice.
  7. Was going to say the same could be in for a real long lasting treat judging by the radar.
  8. Great silent lightning over head here best i have seen so far this year.
  9. My god you really are going to struggle if you are pinning your hopes on a cfs chart which changes its mind almost everyday.
  10. Give it a rest.It was only 36 hours ago that you were saying hp and warm conditions for this time of the year to start from today until at least mid month. And we know how well the models behaved then. +216 is a million miles away to take anything of note. Enjoy the cold blast mate
  11. My thoughts from now until mid november on a totally interested amature pov. Next two to three weeks is going to largely hp dominated with a s/sw flow with any weak weather fronts only skirting the far n/nw of uk. A very benign spell of weather with no sign of traditional autumnal weather making a appearance. My boldest feelings and thoughts is that i think we will not experience any autumn weather and skip a season into winter by mid november how cold and snowy if so remains to be seen but i am expecting it to be a average to just below start followed by a below average end to november. A few factors into my forecast : - High amount of blocking. - No sign of the Atlantic firing up. Another big pointer to me is the amount of snow cover to our e/ne this early on. I have collected data since i found my love of cold winters and what my data shows is that early snow cover to the e/ne which spreads west increases the uk chances for a cold winter by up to 27%. I have some facts and figures in the loft which i will have to dig out as i do every winter. But basically the rule is the more snow cover spreading east to west the better the chances of a cold winter. Even though we are way off the start of winter the signs of a early and cold start to winter are there to be seen i feel with a non existent autumn.
  12. Looking forward to seeing what we end up with as we move into late afternoon and overnight. Certainly is a very interesting and rare situation to have this pattern of weather in early october. Unfortunately i am working outside until midnight in west london but thankfully i remembered my coat.
  13. [*]Next main risk of snow is December 23rd to 31st Mr Madden lol anyone else think that this man is sponsored by the likes of ladbrokes. The bookies must be laughing all the way to the bank with his predictions just feel sorry for the punters who believe it at this precise time.
  14. Big flash and bang rain tipping it down here in Wimbledon
  15. Nothing here in sw London ( Wimbledon ) contrary to reports earlier ( Lies ) from other local members stating a few grains in the same area.
  16. The sunshine has disappeared here in sw london and have been replaced by cloudy skys. Let's see if that sun has sparked off a few showers.
  17. Is it? The past easterlys this winter has been tame indeed for my area those north, east, and even south of me has seen a good deal of snow in the events past & now even. This is why i for one am just looking forward to seeing warmer weather with sunny skys. It has not been my winter and dragging on is just not making my mood any better.
  18. This is once again my problem with the bbc i know I stated the same thing the other day but to further highlight my point. BBC live forecast = No snow showing up in London today at 15:00 ~ 18:00. BBC red button weather page shows heavy snow for London & South East from 15:00 ~ 18:00 this evening. Come on bbc & their suppliers the Met Office pull you're fingers out and give the public a consistent forecast. Having two completely different forecasts from the same team is a utter disgrace.
  19. Send it towards me those areas have had their fun and games thus far. Cloudy dull and cold here this morning #notfun!
  20. This is why i call for a more focused regional thread. EA & southern midlands thread. Eastern & far south eastern thread. London & surrounding counties thread. Southern & coastal thread. It makes sense & stops the likes of me getting well jel lol.
  21. It has been a desperately unlucky those south of the thames this winter or even south of london as a whole as members south of that had a good event a while back. In a way i am glad for others but wish this cold spell shoots off swiftly as without much laying snow it is not exiting at all.
  22. Heavy snow here in sw London over the last 30 mins have turned the cars and grass white roads beginning to turn slushy.
  23. BBC & METO are utterly useless imo. Watch the bbc tv forecast this morning and shows no snow north of London. Press the red button and access their weather page put on the five day outlook and it shows heavy snow for London sat & sun. No wonder people hold them in such low esteem it really is ridiculous!
