    Rumbling away in the distance yet again. I'm so fed up of being just on the edge of a decent storm this last couple of weeks. There's no shortage of thundery weather, apart from overhead!

    Heavy rain for the past hour or so, but only 1 flash around 8ish.

    It has most certainly not been a mobile Westerly, with depressions moving across the Atlantic, with ridges in between. Unless my understanding has been mistaken for all of these years.

    I don't mind unsettled weather, it's the major part of our climate, but this week has been ridiculously cold for July. We've just had 4 days of temperatures in the low to mid teens, coupled with a brisk breeze and almost permanent cloud cover. I'd much prefer a mobile Westerly with troughs and ridges in between, at least you get the occasional sunny day, with temperatures close to bearable!

    Yet another day of 100% cloud and horrible cold. We even managed a cheshire gap streamer overnight, so cold is the air. What a vile spell for so-called high summer.

    Line approaching but as usual, lightning seems to have died. Watch it explode back to life just to our East.

    Just missed out here again today. Some rain and 3 or 4 flashes, lots of distant rumbling, but the exciting stuff is always 4-5 miles away. Surprised that the sky is now clearing from the North & East. I've decided I don't like MSCs, The life gets sucked out of most of it. Much prefer more discrete storms that hold togethther and don't collapse and die, only to fire up again once they've passed you!

    Once again? Nothing on Saturday, a few rumbles and some rain yesterday. Looks like sliding to the North East today.

    Just look how it's takem off again just to the west! Pulse type storms are infuriating.

    Just goes to show, so close, yet all we have here, about 3 miles away, is enough to dampen the ground! Shame that the electrical stuff looks to have gone south and West of us. Maybe tomorrow.

    The lightning never seems to get closer than Uttoxeter and it seems to be losing intensity anyway. Just heavy rain I guess.

    At last! For the 1st time this year, it feels genuinely warm. No sense of chill in the air or cool breeze. Deep joy.

    Very frustrating day. After clearing mid morning, the total cloud cover has now returned. It doesn't usually come back unti dawn and of course it's really quite cold again.

    Absolutely. Wind in Blackpool is hardly a surprise and one of the reasons for booking on May is the hope of an Easterly. My moan was that looking at the charts, you wouldn't say it would be windy. It's still there this morning, just moved towards the north a bit more!

    Another disappointing day here in Blackpool. Plenty of brightness and sunshine, but once again a strong cold wind. Puzzles me, looking at the synoptic, there are very few isobars, and as a casual observer you'd say light variable winds and maybe a sea breeze, not a steady 20-25 mph wind!
