    In Blackpool for a few days, and it looks lovely, until you step outside and then the strong North West wind is freezing! It just doesn't stop, constantly nagging away. Very easy to get sunburnt in this weather.

    Stopped now. A couple of cms here at 150m, been to town, a bit higher at 200m and about 5cm there. Sun coming out and rapid melt underway.

    Still too light to make any impression, melting as it settles. Looks like the rain shadow effect of the peaks taking over, as so often in the past.

    Real knife-edge stuff here today. We seem to be on the absolute boundary of the milder air. Currently light snow, with a covering on roofs, grass and cars. Needs a heavier spell to settle properly.

    Oh dear folks, it did look like we might get away with it , but the models seem to have turned against us. Let's hope it doesn't last too long, and at least there's some worthwhile snow and not just cold sleet and a slushy mess! Any hope of keeping those bills down, especially with the Impending huge rises looks forlorn as well. Ah well, our time will come again

    Not much fun is it. At least we're getting to the point where anytime you can get out of the wind and into the sun, it'll feel okay. Hope it won't be too long until the first 20c day. Of course the perfection that is 24c would be better, but I'm realistic!

    Quite right, as the end of February comes ever closer, and the start of spring, we could be threatened with being plunged back into pointless cold. Of course there'll be cold snaps in March, happens just about every year, and we usually get a few snow showers at least, but the prospect of a prolonged cold spell is truly awful. Let's hope it doesn't come to be. I hate cold Aprils most of all, lot's of lovely daylight often until after 8.30, and it's too cold & wet to enjoy it.

    Does anyone know when the mad thread will return to actually discussing weather models, rather than hypothesising about reversals, splits & SSWs? The desperation for cold is so all-consuming, many seem to have forgotten about Actual weather. I'll believe any of it if it starts to appear in the ECM and then UKMO models.

    I certainly didn't enjoy scraping the car this morning, but when I went out at lunchtime, when I could finally find somewhee in the sun, it was noticeably warm on my back. First time in a few months I can say that. Just our luck that ECM shows us drawing up winds from Spain & North Africa, ata time when the uppers down there are no higher than here!

    Didn't take much to get them all rabid again. Record breaking cold for March! Frequent Greeny blocking! -10 for April! Nice to have a happy haven here to wallow in a bit of mild loving
