  1. Stopped here as expected, that should be it until sundays borderline event, fantastic week and with two severe frosts to look forward to over the next two nights especially saturday, this fresh snow cover should really help with those low temps, looking for some nice clear skies to develop tonight into tomorrow, should be some fantastic starry bitterly cold nights Great thread this has been with lots of info, we should have a midlands thread even our own forum all year round
  2. No chance in hell will i tire of this lovely snow, we might not see something like this for years and years, some of the snow depths people are recording are just incredible makes mine look like nothing.
  3. I see you live on EdgeHill where that famous battle was turnoutniceagain, nice castle inn you have, actually the village of EdgeHill is located about a mile inside the Warwickshire border Drive through there from time to time, you must be doing very well with your height. Still coming down heavy ish here with a nice topping, another glorious picture card wintry looking day
  4. More heavy snow Snowman i made still intact in my garden(nice and solid now) no thaw yesterday apart from roads where cars have been and paths where people have trampled on, in the countryside it's all intact LOL at the rain thread on TWO, i mean what do you expect living right down in the far SE or near the south coast, i find the people who deserve snow get it while the ones who wrote off this fantastic cold snowy spell get rain, there is just deserts afterall  Brrrrrr feels cold this morning another cold northerly today to top up the cold air with severe night frosts this weekend
  5. There is a new ailment sweeping the weather community, "obsessive snow disorder" meaning the preoccupation with snow, wanting more and more snow when one has had enough
  6. I don't think the snow will thaw today in the midlands i think it will stay cloudy all day not letting the sun get to work with another risk of heavy snow early tomorrow like on that chart above, friday night and saturday night look very cold indeed over the snowfields of the midlands
  7. Also worcestershire and gloucestershire have done very well snowwise overnight also, they are in the W/SW midlands.
  8. It's only people north and east of birmingham disappointed, warwickshire borders northamptonshire so it's very good in this region especially the east of the region, good location here near to east midlands but still west midlands so sometimes get some of the birmingham action
  9. Fantastic wintry scenes this morning, the wonderfulness of it increasing as it gets lighter, always love snow just as it gets light, feels very cold at -1C, today is turning into a classic for us midlanders
  10. I`m in warwickshire and have just measured the depth as around 8 cm so far, snowing lightly now, i`m sure the hills near me have more, going to be lots of kids around sledging this morning  Even on monday they were and it wasn't as deep as this.
  11. Spot on kold. can't really add to that, heavy snow event for the midlands this morning. Even i wouldn't call it a classic though as it hasn't been snowy enough apart from this week and the word classic should be reserved for winters such as winter 1946/47 and 1962/63 which are extremely rare, still an excellent winter and one of the best in over 20 years.
  12. Very decent covering here still snowing quite heavy now, easily the best snowfall this winter for me, the midlands will come to a standstill this morning can't see many even bothering going to work or school.
  13. Stoke on trent does very well for snow, Tom P use to be from there and always reported snow so not sure why that guy is so negative, i bet the alton towers area will do great also, i drive through stoke to get there in the summer, lovely area, the alton towers area that is
  14. Just recently updated for you east midlanders, west midlands still old from 06 55 hrs, So i think the west midlands one will be even better, not so good an update for the southeast maxs here 7C tomorrow with snow turning to rain, best to be in oxfordshire if you are in the SE region i would think.
  15. lol just as i said people on the weather forums in general moaning about thawing snow, what do they expect in February, the sun is now as strong as early November and the airmass isn't that cold today with a light SE'ly flow off a not that cold northern france, look at the dew point charts, 4C is my high today now dropping down to 3C.
  16. Some weather stations are reporting 2.9C for January 2009 in the midlands thats 1.3C below the 1971/2000 average, what is remarkable is some sites didn't record double figures and the highest min was just 5C, another winter month with above average sunshine figures too, winter months sunshine figures going up while summer months aren't, the less said about last August the better
  17. Not sure why those NE of birmingham are worried abut snow turning to rain, i think it's places much further south and east who need to worry about that, latest UKMO update is very promising for midlanders.
  18. Yes the BBC is mentioning the risk of round two for later in the week, it really feels bitter this morning. i feel the snow cover, cold frozen ground and cold atmosphere will help us in any marginal events from now on.
  19. Still only -2C Temps rising very slowly even in sunshine still snow cover in my garden which should stay in the shade for days before more on thursday night  I read somewhere else this is seasonal weather but it's not, the average max for Feb is 7C/average min 1C and the week looks cold all week in the midlands its not just for northerners at all.
  20. lol i see someone moaning it's not cold enough in watford, Very cold in the SE this morning and thats with low pressure, usually very cold temps are recorded under slack or HP conditions so in this setup that is excellent how often does bournemouth get down to -6C . http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn061.png http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgi...TIME=1233646312
  21. Had a great day out yesterday enjoying the wintry wonderland more heavy snow late afternoon giving a nice topping, not quite as good as the Feb 2006 snow event for me which was the best in the midlands but still very good nonetheless, temps now plummeting down to -4C here over snowfields, in the countryside with less urban warming melting the snow i think there will be some very low mins recorded esp in valleys which there is one just 1 mile from me, how much colder it feels hits you when you walk through it early in the morning Breezy too making it feel even colder
  22. Since my last post heavier snow has fallen giving a wonderful winter wonderland picture Not deep snow cover but deep enough to make my photo's look great when i go out later this morning in the countryside to take some, enjoy folks
  23. Only a slight covering here what a letdown Great news for you southeasterners, i'm not really complaining just kidding and should see more decent snowfall later today, great cold snap already this is all over breakfast news this morning, best/worst snow cover in London since Feb 1991 they say not sure if thats correct or not. Anyone seen the winter is over crew lately
  24. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgi...TIME=1233227500 Yes notice the cold temps as of 11 00 hrs especially out east, feeling very raw out now with no sun and a chilly breeze, very good going as we have only just picked up the continental wind earlier this morning.
  25. Damp/drizzly earlier and foggy then magically not long later the fog was all gone because of a developing chilly SSE'ly breeze, already can feel the continental chill already
