  1. Mild, dull and damp, i'm loving this mornings BBC 1 forecast with alex deakin, trying to say mild as many times as possible in the very short forecast, i think they have a bet on in the back to see how many times he can say the word mild, when it's cold they usually are very reluctant to use the word and use chilly instead, all very amusing :o
  2. Yes i agree very refreshing , some nice mild weather this weekend to look forward to(upto 13C in parts), also refreshing is the fronts are not bringing much rainfall to the midlands and south this week, with pressure high to our south this weekends fronts won't bring much here either before pressure builds over the UK next week. A mild 11C here, first time i've recorded 11C for a long time, can't remember when i last recorded that high. I was recording 10C(rounded up) at 8 am and weatheronline was showing 9C/10C for north england and 11C further north in northern england at 8 am so i don't think there is a fault with anybodies recording instruments.
  3. Yes i can't see anything but a dry and rather cold christmas day this year, not sure where the daily express got their wettest christmas on record from, maybe ian brown is now advising them
  4. Upto yesterday the CET is running 3.1C below average, makes me laugh when i see people saying caution is needed when we see cold on model runs when the CET is currently so cold so yes cold is possible in the UK, it's not a miracle
  5. Yes very impressive yet still some aren't happy and with ensembles going for HP domination we could be in for a very cold december, i'm sure if June was running 3.2C above average by the 15th people would be ecstatic but in winter its never enough, sunshine figures are amazing too, i doubt we`ll be recording almost 200% sunshine figures come next summer.
  6. Yes not much chance of snow on christmas day, a very anticyclonic picture, at least there is the chance of outside looking white from frost christmas day morning so not a mild and wet christmas you often get.
  7. 0C last night and it stayed cloudy so impressive, TBH now looking forward to something milder end of the week albeit only temporarily, cold seems to of gone on for ages now.
  8. Na i've hated every single minute of it, roll on summer LOL just kidding, the weather has been great recently hardly any rain and cold at night with another air frost tonight, lost count of how many frosts i've had recently, plenty to come too in the next week
  9. Running -4.0C below currently , what a fantastic start to the winter and still some aren't happy and it's going to drop in the week ahead too, we could be looking at a very cold first half to December miles better than last year. http://www.climate-uk.com/
  10. Like i said on thursday tonight is going to be very cold for early December with possible freezing fog keeping it cold tomorrow where it lingers, -3C/4C widespread tonight in inland areas. Down to 3C here already, lovely crisp sunny day.
  11. 7C max here today temps falling back should be a ground frost tonight, can't see any mild weather on the horizon people keep asking m when it will warm up as they are tired of putting on several layers, i'm afraid i don't know is what i tell them., wrap up warm saturday night if you are going out on the town a cold one coming up i feel.
  12. Yes i've enjoyed todays weather, cold/foggy here and a high of just 2C, best autumn for years The week ahead looks very nice too with a mixture of weather types.
  13. Temps struggling today, was still only 4C by midday, it reached 5C but now dropping again, after a milder few days temps look like dropping again to below average, this early in the season when widespread snow is very rare that is very good.
  14. Heavy rain this morning, quieter cloudy afternoon, definately an autumnal chill in the air today, hopefully drying up next weekend with some nice autumnal weather, will take weeks and weeks for the ground to become bone dry though Still amused at that comment after all the rain we've had
  15. Very dull and very wet again, for gods sake this is getting silly now, flooding everywhere you go, the ground has been saturated for months now. It's been raining almost all day so far with heavy rain.
  16. Rain for most of the day bit of sunshine then more showery rain this evening and already dark, autumn is definately here early, i class early september as summer. It's really desperate out in the countryside the torrential downpours everyday have caused a very serious situation indeed and tomorrow looks absolutely dreadful, rivers through urban areas are at bursting point. Farmers are having a hell of a time of it they just can't cope at all with all this very wet weather.
  17. Yes i've been on a few golf courses in August and everytime my footwear was soaking, usually the grass is much drier in August, local golfers complaining about very damp courses and the windy weather. Dullest August since 1968 here so the worst in my lifetime, 160% rainfall too, +0.1C CET which is academic really with the awful conditions experienced, maxs were well below only mins inflated the CET.
  18. OMG the rain is coming down really heavy atm, tropical like intensity but cool with it, it just keeps raining everyday heavy too, never seen anything like it in summer, in August it seemed to rain almost every day.
  19. Nice sunny day here can't enjoy it outside of course with the wind blowing as fierce as it is, incredible wind for early September debris blowing everywhere.
  20. Rain, rain and more rain, it just wouldn't stop raining last night, rained from 4 pm to 6 am, cleared this morning but then frequent heavy showers moved in during today, cool too only 14C now after a recent shower, terrible weather, next weeks possible HP(not definate yet though) can't come soon enough the rest of the week esp weekend looks dreadful.
  21. Some very heavy thundery downpours yesterday giving flash flooding on the roads again, the countryside is horrendous in parts, knee high water in low lying areas, today more of the same weather we have suffered recently just its cooler, fresher, windier, and still overcast.
  22. Heavy rain here, a day that sums up this August really, i guess the bone dry ground needs this rain though
  23. Wow it didn't get lower than 18C last night that is just incredible for so late in the summer, thats very impressive even in mid summer, i`m not in a big urban area either so its not like a big inner city around here, feels hot today with more sunshine than i've seen all week not clear blue skies though still abit cloudy.
  24. I disagree it is remarkable as Mr D's sunshine averages for Feb/August show, there is a 116 hr difference in average sunshine levels between Feb and August not far off the difference in average sunshine levels between Dec and June, August is the 3rd sunniest month of the year on average in the midlands after May and July, strangely sunnier than June. August's daylight length is the same as April 10th to May 11th, much longer daylight hours than February.
  25. Dull and dreary morning, haven't seen any sun since sunday, hopefully should clear by tomorrow or saturday, next week even though it looks unsettled because of cooler fresher air we`ll see sunny intervals at least not unremitting gloom like this week. Peter gibbs on the main BBC 1 forecast made me laugh saying don't worry back to normal from sunday. The cost of flour is shooting up because of all the rain we've had, it seemed to rain every day this August until last weekend, at least this week apart from drizzle has been mainly dry.
