  1. Indeed Ben, I think round one will kick off down there towards the far SW over the next couple of hours. The Lizard, perhaps Bodmin Moor or somewhere similar might be the place to be anytime soon as its all travelling ESE to NWN'wards.
  2. And for those with a Google Maps equivalent, I make that here. http://tinyurl.com/pefz3g3
  3. Which according to Google Maps is here. http://tinyurl.com/oabb93q
  4. Another one for the list, what a creative lot we are, now all we need is a big damn dose of lady luck.
  5. Yes Gordon we know, tis only a risk currently so should simply be regarded simply as a risk at this stage. Take care now.
  6. I'm not going to give anyone a link to hotspots live that's for sure, at least not before the 9pm watershed has passed. In fact, all these locations aforementioned are not simply provided as storm chaser havens, I'm imagining there are all sorts of extra curriculum activities available on site, especially past the twilight hour. Back on topic I go.
  7. Thanks sunnijim, presumably Blackheath is this one - http://tinyurl.com/nn492o9 and Hastings would be as follows - http://tinyurl.com/nzkc9pj I sense a new thread in the making?
  8. The guessing game continues but I did notice the likelihood of a significant storm rating has risen a notch, intriguing to say the least.
  9. Here is another option for folks in Wiltshire, coming courtesy of the CSE & SW regional. For folk living near or willing to travel to Westbury, try http://tinyurl.com/nmpm3vx
  10. Thanks Andy Bown. This is a direct link to that one, should people find it of interest. http://www.ifootpath.com/walking/walkshow.php?walkID=925&username=
  11. Nice one Surrey boy. Keep them coming peeps, could prove a useful resource, this.
  12. Oh yes, but potentially this could lead to an overheated argument between Thunder loving and Thunder hating folk in here so best we leave this discussion right there. On the aspect of respectful community relations, how about us storm chasers post up a selection of good local vantage points used over the years while we're killing time before the POTENTIAL beasts arrive. For a kick off I'll start with Combe Gibbet in Berkshire, a mere 10 miles due SW of Newbury, Berkshire. http://tinyurl.com/nan9heu Next offer of local advice please guys n gals.
  13. Thanks AJ, I will also try a Google Earth/Maps search on them to see where appropriate parking up spaces might be as well. Yeah even 16.1c as I type this is in sheltered normally cool setting. The humidity will soon be kicking in too, currently sitting at 79%.
  14. I'm presuming that is the Uffington one, Andy, what's the postcode or nearest village/good vantage point for the White Horse, assuming we're not talking about a Pub.
  15. So then where would the locals head for a bit of storm watching in the coming 36 to 72 (previously ahead of myself) hours or so then. I'm looking for an all round vista in most directions and within a 50 mile radius of say Andover or Newbury. Tips? Barbary Castle has been mentioned in the past and is not too far for my brother and I to travel, any other decent viewpoints?
  16. Friday night fun and games in here it seems, reminiscent of an increasingly rowdy scene at a local bar. Remember the rules guys n gals, play nice, be respectful and have fun interpreting the eventual outcome of the UK weather be it at D3, D5, D10 or even beyond. FWIW, I am seeing an overall drier setup with typical/average Temperatures at first then becoming increasingly warmer/hotter more widely later with potential for isolated storms into deeper FI, deja vu perhaps. Predominance for most usable weather always towards the South and East but exclusively so.
  17. It may have been requested way back on the 3rd May but it still applies, chaps and chapesses. As ever, Please keep it to friendly model related discussion in this thread, And head over to the banter Spring/Summer thread for moans, groans, ramps and more general chatAs ever, PM is a good alternative for any pertinent questions revolving around non-model related discussion inside netweather towers. Us moderators are here to help. Please continue in the manner expected by us moderators and most forum users.
  18. I'm taking cold comfort from some of the above member's posts, although something's up in global terms that the impending medium to long-term weather pattern will not be frosty and/or sourced from a polar maritime region. If the captain (UKMO) says there might be a shortwave trough in there come the shorter term outputs, then I wouldn't knock it as that might well be the case. There are more reds in terms of colours showing up on the upper air charts as the Summer sunshine season encroaches. I don't forsee any blue armies of cooler colours invading except for perhaps the far North and West occasionally. Potential BBQ weather for those under the strongest influence of the HP cells and when the heat builds a storm might well interrupt proceedings, what more could one want. FWIW, I have a feeling for a very warm, borderline hot largely dry June with only brief periods of Thundery rain around, time will tell.
  19. Good cell to the North of Newbury now and tracking SE'wards. A little bit of hail and some intense bursts but alas no Thunder day yet.
  20. A recent sferic has been detected by the NW v6 radar near Taunton, approximately 30 minutes ago. Plenty of heavy stuff starting to edge its way Northwards, we are just about to see the very first few spots here in Newbury.
  21. Zilch rainfall and Thunder from the showers but 8.6mm did fall overnight so at least something to replenish the water butts and garden ponds. Missed out by only a few miles as my brother had plenty of action some 4 to 5 miles North of me. Well done to those with action and here's hoping another chance of Thunder fun and games comes along again soon.
  22. As I've mentioned over the convective discussion, more likely the worst of the showery outbreak will hit A34 region North of Newbury towards Oxford region, very shortly.
  23. I can see a tasty ole storm out West right now, should hit Newbury/Andover area within next fifteen minutes or so, likely to produce first sferics and Thunder of the season for me. EDIT: more likely the worst of the showery outbreak will hit A34 region North of Newbury towards Oxford region, very shortly.
