  1. Getting closer by the day, but all a waste of time right now, for the UK of course. Still got an inkling for an early sprinkling in parts though, maybe this side of December.
  2. Twas a cold one for the time of year, not cold enough here for snow of course. Re: my original post, just wanted to let people know I'm still around, snow or no snow, rain or shine, come hell or high water.
  3. Hello again. Will be popping in here from time to time to see how things are progressing over the coming days and weeks as ever and whether it will lead to a much anticipated/hoped-for BIG FREEZE will be the one hundred million dollar question. Across the nearby continent, this week should see some brief snowfall as far West as parts of Germany and to boot, it was expected to be rather heavy in nature, last I heard. I'm pleased with the dry signal right now over the UK and the trending colder than normal Autumn over much of our part of the globe, bodes well at least for the first part of Winter I'd suggest. Onwards and upwards.
  4. Hadn't read this until after typing up my comments but you are certainly in my camp with your predictions.
  5. I went for 70% confidence in it being a colder one, my hopes from a cold weather lover's perspective are based around the following. The North Atlantic sea state anomaly being colder than usual for much of the preceding Summer should go on to favour a colder scenario come Winter and largely through Autumn too. Added to this the unknown El Nino effects on our part of the globe I feel will bring about further hope for something colder and perhaps a significant snowfall amongst a generally variable climatological setup. My gut feeling is that overall, the forthcoming Winter might match up well to Winter 2010/11 and that was brutally cold in late November/December over a vast part of the UK and further afield into Northern Europe too. An early Wintry blast is my bet then with the rest of Winter panning out to something rather more mundane as we enter 2016 with more mobility coming into play by then. I love the fun of the chase when it comes to Winter in all honesty and I realise things cannot be predicted with any great certainty, so as a result I like this idea of this HO-PI Winter Index, nice one Paul.
  6. Not sure how I ended up sorting this but clearly was something my end, changed passwords in two or three different sections of my profile settings and that was that, okay for a good week now.
  7. Whiffling always good to see, often better to see that than the load of waffle I hear and see elsewhere. A good article there Knocker, Thanks.
  8. Good to see our main man back posting, I have a feeling that post will be very popular with the NW readership. I will have a good read of the above post and see what I can absorb into that little brain of mine.
  9. Ah, good to know. I think that is what is also known as a cloud fart according to our resident forecaster in training, Nick L. ???
  10. Indeed, currently the radar looks pretty lively in certain areas as hinted at in my post to the CSE & SW regional, copied below. "It looks like quite a vicious squall passing through in the past few minutes over parts of East Hants and up into East Berks right now, will be interesting to hear of any reports especially nearer the coast."

  12. Yeah NW radar animation amounts seemed to tally to between 28 and 38mm according to a quick peep at that. This largely falling along the North coast between Newquay and up to Bude. Camelford looked like it copped a large 12 hourly figure from what In could tell. Further rain to come too.
  13. The SW looks like copping a lot of rain once again over the next few days, another batch knocking on the door as I type this with the Cornwall particularly wet looking. Patchier rain further East towards my region whilst things should improve by the Bank Holiday weekend for most of us, judging by the latest media forecast I saw.
  14. East Devon and Somerset the places to be currently Thunder wise, maybe a slight risk further East too within an hour or so.
  15. Only going by what was on the box William but yes, it feels very ripe for something very special. One thing is certain to my mind, that will be the inevitable flooding which is on its way for a few folk. Wet wet wet sums up the more certain aspects of the forthcoming weather.
  16. The near term. Just posted this up in the CSE & SW thread but thought I'd post it up in here as well. So just watched the latest TV forecast, which went a little something like this, hit it. This PM - rain out West some heavy bursts within it, isolated showers, some downpours with Thunder and strong winds further East. Temps nudging 30c in some prone locations. This evening into Tonight - rain up from the Channel affecting western parts due West of Newbury judging by the predicted animations, all of this drifting Westwards into the overnight period, some Thunder embedded within this system. Tomorrow - A thoroughly wet day overall for most parts of Southern and SW England after what will be a very muggy night with Temps no lower than 19/20c in some parts. Increasingly windy in this system especially nearer the coast. Tomorrow night - Another band of rain incoming once the first batch clears Northwards, turning windy again, potentially very windy for time of year. Monday/Tuesday - Further bits and pieces of rain about over most parts and much cooler by now. An interesting period upcoming for sure and some Thundery action for a few of us whilst simply very wet for a whole lot of us.

  18. Cheers Paul, I've given that a go by updating my profile page password and will see what happens next time I clear the cookies and history etc.
  19. When I attempt to log into the forums part of netweather towers, my user name always defaults to my old password which I find annoying , any way I can get around this? I am using Google Chrome and Windows 7 should that be of assistance and as Chrome is very slow I clear my cookies and history every few days.
  20. As the French electricty boards own our meters I believe their own multicellular storms have crashed our networks, perhaps we can organise a blockade of sour milk for them. Nah, we not jealous of your storms, what made you think that monsieur.
  21. Yep, my v6 radar was working fine unlike for other folk on Chrome but now I have the following error. Error 502 Ray ID: 21501b88423213ad • 2015-08-12 23:55:08 UTC Bad gateway
