Near to Hadleigh, Ipswich, we have (almost) blizzard conditions - very very cold in the strong wind, drifting across roads over open farm land, many cars stuck. Second snow day here, as located along country/back roads, and now stuck as sandwiched between open farmland. Stocked up at home and taking pics of the event. Image of road across open farmland earlier, ventured out to have a look on roads in 4WD car but no further as drifts ahead.

Some images from today, of the small cell that produced one rumble and then went off the Suffolk coast to increase in intensity early afternoon. Among the clouds and to the side I spotted some lenticular cloud formations, something I have not seen often around here. Very pleased to have seen them even if they did move and dissipate very quickly, as the pictures show. Kept watching the low cloud, in case of any lowering, there was some updraughts but not much more. -

Went out about an hour ago as lightning off coast seemed to be intensifying. Typically, got to good spot to view lightning and set up for photos and it completely fizzled out as soon as camera was on tripod. However, just had a couple of rumbles again. -

Lights flickered, MASSIVE rumble that shook the whole house, and seemed to vibrate the glass and whatever else could vibrate in the structure of the house. Not heard anything like that before! -

Just looked out window - large rumble after catching a giant anvil crawler, a bolt behind trees and lovely bit of lightning illuminating the whole sky! Nice! -

Went to sleep and awoken by deep rumbles. Heavy rain, not seen any lightning as yet. Intermittent thunder. Not sure whether to sleep a bit more, stay up and radar watch or look out the window until 6am or something. If the rain wasn't so heavy I would be out photographing, but not enough lightning. It seems to have died off somewhat. Edit: large rumble after catching a giant anvil crawler, a bolt behind trees and lovely bit of lightning illuminating the whole sky. -

Fabulous sunny and warm start to the morning, while out dog walking before the heat, could see clouds bubbling up, and the odd rumble of thunder. Soon a decent little storm arrived overhead, but not much structure, and not overly photogenic. Very nice CG bolt seen and some other lightning, more thunder though. Plenty of rumbles, still ongoing, some very deep and bass. Heavy rain, now on the back end of it, blue skies approaching and replacing this now damp grey murk that has followed the storm. -

Some belated pics of recent clouds, first interesting of the year really... the not often seen asperitas? Also a recent cloudburst with some rays reflecting through the hail/rain -

A little bit of a non-event for thunder and lightning for this bit of Suffolk methinks, despite the earlier forecast and hopes. Certainly rainfall levels are high enough! Watched the radar until about 230 or so until I was too tired. Thunder was heard as it finally managed to get past London, but nothing like what was experienced further south. Massive show for them! Heavy rain also scuppered chances of any storm viewing here. Looking forward to round two later... -
As I live not far from Blessed Weather, I echo his report of the current weather - huge amount of rain has left us with minor flooded fields and ground that I haven't seen before or in a very long time. Also thunder overnight but as I used earplugs, I managed to sleep, until aforementioned big thunder happened at near 7 (helpful because I would have overslept otherwise!) Not much more thunder heard, rain continues, very breezy. Unfortunate for chasing 1. because of work 2. because of general weather. I await the summer storms (!) but this year we have been pretty lucky for storms so far in this area.

Just found this, might be of interest regarding recent May 9 tornado in Roff, OK: https://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/comment.html?entrynum=3303#prclt-PPseAY1f A small tornado however how it behaved seems unusual. Something to watch out for?

Typical. Every time I turn away or step away from the window, a nice strike happens. Lights flickered, I watch a cluster of 4-5 strikes shows on lightningmaps.org and then comes the big crack of thunder. Certainly shows the maps are working! And upon checking the map, I am quite glad I wasn't outside at my usual viewpoint, because that was exactly next to the cluster of lightning... heavy rain here, with thunder intermittent. Rain increasing now.

Well, first storm of the year, albeit from a distance, it didn't quite reach here but never mind. Some big flashes to the south-east, and long distant rumbles. Did see one nice bit of fork lightning but then... just rain, and judging by the radar, fizzling out over land, and picking up over the sea a little.
