  1. I bet by tomorrow morning the whole ppn forcast has changed again! My location along with TEIS is right on the Eastern snowline, it could go either way for us - it's a nowcast for me. Last weekend was so good for us in the East, it looks like it's back to business as usual for the Fens!
  2. I think last nights snowfest will be talked about here for a very long time, mainly because of the unusual angle of the front bringing us so much snow. usually in this scenario we would get sleet or ice rain widely across the country, with hill snow. I must admit, for me it was a 'I'll believe it when I see it event', to see powder snow falling from a Northwesterly direction for so long was a joy to see!!
  3. Cambridge always gets more snow than us - maybe my level snow estimate was a bit conservative - possible 4 inches of level snow , but no more than that, with 9 inch drifts in places.
  4. Happy to report that the St Ives snow shield has been blown away big time tonight! Blizzard conditions most of the evening, total whiteout. About 3 inches level snow I would say - thats exeptional for the fens. The band is moving through quickly though and at this rate it will be through soon - not stalling like we had hoped. Any thoughts on the rest of the night anyone?
  5. Very red faced here - just realised that my radar was not refreshing after 3.30pm - that's why I thought the front had stalled!! Snow now imminent for me too.
  6. St Ives Update - Temp steady at 0.0C with a dewpoint of -6.83. All I want now is the snow! I'm working tonight in a room full of windows - when the snow starts it will be like listening to Les Dawson. Good luck for tonight everyone!
  7. To be honest, IMO the front is really struggling to get through Oxford at the moment and seems to be breaking up on it's leading edge all the way up through England. I'm no expert, but I think it's going to be a slow process Eastwards tonight!
  8. OK Lol I know what you mean, but the fronts progress is slowing as it comes East - it certainly seems much colder in the far East of the region too. I would love the front to stall right over us tonight - but it has to get here first!! Take a look at the radar for the Oxford area, the snow has been trying to get through there for over an hour.Better progress now for the North of our area.
  9. Very unlikely, have you seen the radar to your West, it's rain and sleet all along the South Coast. I see no reason why that will change.
  10. This frontal band has alot of very light snow on it's leading edge, which seems to be breaking up as it comes East. The heavier stuff is over the Birmingham area at the moment, I guess this is what will give us our proper snowfall later on. It will be a good few hours yet folks!
  11. St Ives Update - Temp 0.1 and falling. Dewpoint -6.29 and falling. Snowband about 50 miles West.
  12. A little update from St Ives - Temp 0.5C and stable (would expect it to start falling soon) Dewpoint -5.52 (very nice) The front is making steady progress toward us, although I think it might be slowing slightly. The warm sector continues to fill in. Im up in Waveney Road. Temp now 0.4C already dropping back! I recon snow will be with us by about 5
  13. Great link - just been watching the surfers in the sea at Woolacombe Bay - know it very well, I lived there for 4 years! Not nice today though!! - it's raining.
  14. I was wondering where he was, not seen him here at all, he only lives around the corner from me, which part of St Ives are you in?
  15. Yes, that will be very interesting for the Busway. If the weather is too bad tonight I will walk home from the Dolphin - I won't risk smashing up my car and my equipment.
  16. Quite right Huntso! I've seen about 3 inches max here - last year barely a covering. I've only just recovered from the massive snowstorm of 18th Dec 10 which stalled at the A14, 2 miles down the road!! Sandy, which is only 20 miles South of us had nearly 12 inches of snow. But tonight is different, not a classic snow set up for the UK, which is why I think we might just crack it tonight here. In the classic set up, we usually miss out big time! I'm playing for a function at the Dolphin Hotel tonight - I'm hoping the snow will hit after 7, otherwise we might not get an audience. As I speak the ppn is making good progress this way, and the warm sector is getting sqeezed out.
  17. So are we saying that Netweather has it all wrong then?? I have to say, they are OFTEN wrong
  18. Zakos - i think you better check your location on NW for tomorrow night - SLEET.
  19. West is Best could be right here everyone - just take a look at NW own forecast, it is downgrading the snow further East with every run. My own location, St Ives in Cambs has gone from heavy snow tomorrow night 12 hours ago, to sleet and ice rain!! Obviously the BBC is going for a serious snow event tomorrow night, but NW is not.
