  1. I'd say you have a pretty good chance of waking up on Friday to a covering that should stay for a couple of days.
  2. Forget the models at such close range. It's now time for forecasts and radar. Are you saying nothing below zero even at night?
  3. I was in the Cotswolds on holiday last September, and, after the national BBC news, I was reminded about how dire local programming can be. The Oxford localwithinalocal crew were particularly bad.
  4. I can't stand Deakin at this time of year; not a great fan of his at anytime, but you can tell he loves mild Atlantic muck. MW, I like that forecast! She's quite a fox in a cute sort of way, and I like her enthusiasm! A bit of a snow lover or at least cold ramper?
  5. Thanks TEITS - I'm perhaps being critical of them only because I normally rate their forecasts highly, except for thunderstorms (esp. Spanish plumes) which they often don't spot.
  6. My mum and grandmother used to have lab/retreiver crosses - lovely dogs. <_<
  7. TEITS - I agree except for the fact that she still seemed very reluctant to say that some areas would see lying snow on Friday morning - I understand that she can't predict where, but she was still uncertain about the if. EDIT - yes suffolkboy Stewart is good for an amusing quote - the rumour is that he's a tightwad and waits until it gets bitter before he puts the heating on.
  8. Look East evening forecast just finished. Rain clearing tonight, temps well below feezing under clearing skies - ice warning. Tomorrow - showers at first around Wash mainly of rain and sleet, some of snow, moving southwards but unlikely to lay during daylight hours. Max. temps 3-4 degrees but strong north/northeasterly making it feel bitter, gales around coast. Showers may well give coverings of snow in some areas, but she was still reluctant to say they WILL and passed the buck to local radio stations. After that, light wintry showers until Monday, which should be dry, cold all the way with nights all below freezing.
  9. The Look East forecast that she usually presents DOES - Paul B confirmed this to me in PM from an email reply he got from Jim Bacon, who is one of the directors of WeatherQuest as well as being a regular presenter of the forecasts for both LE and and Radio Norfolk. Admittedly they sometimes modify the interpretation slightly, but the data and maps used ARE from the MetO.
  10. Well, I think everyone's set me to "Ignore" because I keep saying much the same for here - NW radar is showing that I have already had snow, and I've had nothing of the sort!
  11. Also, why is NW radar precip type showing a neat, rectangular block of sleet with rain to the north and snow to the south? Anomaly surely?
  12. Damn NW radar shows light snow here for the past hour - I'm near a N-facing window and nothing is happening!
  13. OK, you posted this only a few minutes ago. Anyone would think you kept saying this to be annoying. I get your point, but you sound awfully like a mild ramper.
  14. If it was Deakin that read that forecast he won't have liked it I bet! I appreciate that a lot of people do worry about cold winter weather (I should, given that I'm a wheelchair user), but I do grind my teeth when, in the midst of midwinter mucky zonality, he or Jay Wynne or Darren Bett says "it'll be nice and mild".
  15. Fair point - Julie has been underplaying the snow potential most of the day.
  16. Sorry to sound hostile, but we're not saying it's going to be like February. Anyway, we had less then than you lot did. <_<
  17. At the end of the last thread, blake7 seemed to be reporting red snow - "a few rouge flakes" <_<
