  1. Sure the planet can cope with warming and cooling,no matter how extreme or how rapid (by our definitions) - it's done it countless times before and it'll do it countless times again when the only vestiges of our residency will be a few indestructible artefacts. As for the second sentence of your paragraph, let's have a huge thermonuclear war and get it over with - that's probably where we're headed and the only solution to this (A)GW nonsense.
  2. No it hasn't,whatever anyone may tell you otherwise. You're waving the AGW banner again and trying it on,GW! The thing was only there for ten minutes, geologically speaking, and it's disappearance amounts to nothing more than shifting sands - literally. http://en.wikipedia....Talpatti_Island
  3. The consensus amongst AGW sceptics/deniers is that the opposition is completely barking. An instance where "groupthink" may well be correct in it's conclusion.
  4. Ah but GW (and "warmers") everywhere played no role in the disaster of which they speak. It's all your fault and mine CB - even doubting AGW renders one culpable. It's a crock,100%. I'd give more credence to Nibiru causing climate change than anthro CO2 - and in my book planet X rates at exactly 0% .
  5. I really wish it would hurry up and get on with it. Though today is a notable exception, all we seem to get is "mainly dry with sunny spells" these days. Maybe AGW is responsible for this sorry state of affairs, too? Exhaust is alright btw GW,thanks .
  6. Thought *some of you* might like this commentary and it's replies: http://bighollywood....re-programming/ ... I know I did! I'm ashamed and embarrassed that in the early days of all the CO2-inspired global warming rubbish that is now an integral part of our daily lives, that for a little while I actually thought there might be some substance to it. Fortunately it was only a fleeting illness and I made a speedy and full recovery. Hope all you who are still afflicted do,too.
  7. Don't look at me - I voted "bad"! Off to engage with a bacon butty and several pints of Old Toss.....
  8. You've been saying that for at least the last two years !
  9. I wasn't going to comment further on here, but I oughtta have known the lure would be too strong. This is broadly what I've been saying all along. Personally I don't give a hoot for "the science" anymore. And whether AGW theory/hypothesis/whatever is right or wrong (it's wrong btw,but that's not for here) is a moot point. Reducing CO2 emissions goes hand in hand with achieving sustainability and eking out what we have in a world of ever increasing demand and dwindling supplies. Simples. All I've ever asked is for the ptb to just come right out with it and say "we need to reduce CO2 emissions because......", instead of ever hysterical scary fairy tales about no more snow in England and starving polar bears etc, blah blah. Um,carry on folks.
  10. Could David Dilley (or even yourself and VP!) be the Nicolas Copernicus of our age ? You're right in what you say though. I won't comment further after this because I foresee another argument somewhere down the line, but the whole AGW 'thing' will never be overturned whatever happens, because (IMHO of course) it never was,is,or will have anything to do with climate. Bye!
  11. Want something to really fear that's very real? Future energy bills (as if they aren't horrendous enough - mine for the last quarter was over £500) and the cost of simply going about daily existance. All necessary to 'tackle' non-existant global warming man-made climate change, you understand.
  12. The wisdom of your years shines through,Nog (hey I'm not far behind you)! Cop a load of this- http://www.dailymail...icide-pact.html If you ask me,folk are going soft in the head thanks to the infestation of crazed alarmists we are currently suffering. Who was it who said something like "we have nothing to fear but fear itself"?
  13. Nothing we can do about it,just like climate change as a whole. Besides,we'd all suffocate seeing as burning methane requires two molecules of oxygen for each one of methane - and one of the resulting compounds is CO2 - for those who are worried about such a delightful, necessary, essential chemical... Look,if the world's gonna end in some terrible conflagration I'm as ready as I'll ever be.
  14. You'll love this http://projectcamelo...l_engineer.html
  15. Here you go http://www.youtube.c...h?v=LwfmfMBLZiM How much more evidence do you need ? The UHI is real alright, but I'd expect no less from so many people,so much industrial activity,so many paved and tarmac'd areas concentrated into such small spaces. But on a global scale?? No way. Like having a tepid tea bag in a corner of the NEC and expecting it to warm the whole arena up! Aren't those genuine (I'll give them the benefit of any doubt) UHI recordings being used to perpetuate and validate this whole idea of 'global' warming ?
  16. http://www.spaceweat...ek2up9qs5uuata4 Whaddya reckon to this,Mondy? It's called a Hyder flare and are none too common. Had a quick poke around and apparently this is the biggest ever recorded (true or false I don't know) for what that's worth, though if I was an alarmist I'd say ol' Sol's awoken from his deep sleep in a shocking mood and is limbering up to take us all out in 2012 !
  17. The only way to 'avoid' climate change is to get out of it's way and ditch this preposterous notion that we can control it,one way or the other. Right now I'm far more concerned with getting that annoying heat tarnish off my exhaust headers, but I think I've sussed it. Tamara - that sounds very much like a line from a Doors song, unless I'm very much mistaken ? Actually,I think the last word is "near",not "clear"!
  18. Looks like I was wrong all along - even when much of the populated world is digging itself out of ice and snow (50 American States covered recently!) the AGW monster rumbles along. Still, what folk see out their window and what they are told are two very different things... It really has gone beyond the ridiculous and nothing more than a source of grim amusement, these days. How anyone can talk about 'warming' with a straight face is beyond me - like coming home to find the missus in the sack with the milkman while she insists that it's "not what it looks like"!
  19. I bet he can't make it - that's what I've been up to all day ! Maybe the papers have found their way down the back of the sofa, tucked away in the dog-eared pages of some long forgotten issue of N. Scientist or suchlike...
  20. Probably until half the world is entombed in ice - or at the very least when it is obviously suffering as a result of declining temps and the horrors that would bring. Nothing less would do,so ingrained has 'AGW' become. We won't hear "global warming" anymore, having by then completed it's transition to "climate change" anthropologically driven, mind. I imagine there are 'climate types' all over the place who are screaming and writhing within, wondering with astonishment and outrage at how this could be happening but get away with it for now by insisting that all this snow and cold is within projections etc. Say what?! Imagine that instead of warming,we'd been told all this time that the world was cooling down, yet every day was bringing reports from around the world of record busting heatwaves. How would that go down? VP - I'm really sorry you feel the way you do,but surely there's room for everyone,as DM asks? I know full-well (or at least to my own satisfaction, and that's good enough for me,the rest of you can please yourselves!) that AGW/ACC is c***blers but tbh I'm not that interested in it apart from whiling away a spare hour or two on this forum. If it's ever going to be shattered once and for all before the bl**din obvious,it's going to take someone with unlimited drive, tenacity, intelligence, integrity and nothing to lose or gain to do so. Hope you're the guy. Pre-post edit: Good move J - let's leave this for general squabbling an' stuff - the way it's always been and how we love it .
  21. But Roger,it's only weather and nothing to worry about. Here's more... http://www.heraldsun...x-1225827780294 But warming is more dangerous than cooling, right?
  22. sss,I take it you've never piloted a 'Z' running stock frame and suspension ?
  23. Blimey Pete, that was a long time coming - but thanks anyway ! WRT water vapour, s'true that it wasn't there before the fusion of fuel and oxygen. Given that it's a much more effective GHG than CO2,how come the slant isn't more on reducing water emissions than CO2 ones ? No,seriously. The water produced has to go somewhere, and is never permanently re-absorbed,unlike CO2 (in plants etc). Just one of many, many reasons why the CO2-inspired global warming saga is quite obviously a sham. Imaging trying to hoodwink the knuckle-draggers of the world that water, plain ol'water would result in climate hell? Nah,use CO2 and it's attendant and necessary alien jargon and pseudo science, that'll do the trick. Having said that,I no more accept that, than any water creation/emission that we are capable of can affect climate to any degree whatsoever, let alone the relatively ineffective weakling CO2. As we've all acknowledged on here the good and valid reasons to reduce FF consumption, the real reasons for doing so to those who haven't yet figured it out, would be very welcome - instead of the usual nonsense which is akin to telling a troublesome child that the bogeyman in the wardrobe will come and eat him if he doesn't go to sleep... Back OT... maybe all that water vapour which we have created from the burning of fossil fuels has finally resulted in increased cloud cover and blotted out the sun, stopping warming in it's tracks... nah, don't swallow that one, either! Expecting a deluge of replies as to how water vapour has been taken into account in the 'models' etc,but ask yourself why it is never, ever mentioned to the masses in anything climate-change related. GW - get yourself a hoary old Zed thou with a hopped-out motor etc,get the blood flowing thru those constricting veins and feel the bugs in your teeth etc etc,and I guarantee you'll change your tune - if only in private ! Gotta go now - sixteen little valves to check amongst other things. Won't be long before the ol'girl hits the road - and I'm gonna thrash her til she squeals (ooh-er). Best make hay while the sun shines,or... make the most of it before such devices are banned in the name of saving the planet (yawn),or reality hits home and we're all wandering around in a real-life Mad Max fillum.
  24. How much do they pay these geniuses? That's like saying stepping in front of a speeding bus is likely to result in personal injury. Where do I sign up?
  25. Wonder how much it's grown in the time since? The 'tipping point' can't be far off, now.
