  1. Probably almost as much as my energy bill's gonna come to this quarter. Hope there's some overtime in the offing or I'm stuffed as much as the turbines are.
  2. As the 'warmista' know only too well.... or will it be 2025,2050,2100 etc. Chill - we'll all be out of the game by then, and stuff the grandkids !
  3. No,I understood it perfectly well first time around, but didn't know Science Daily was a sceptic blog !! To clarify once again, the guy says that atmospheric CO2 (of all origins) has not increased. I'm not contending that one way or the other because I basically couldn't give a monkeys. He also reckons plants are losing the ability to uptake CO2! What's the current level supposed to be,about 380ppm? Pity those poor buggers in commercial greenhouses which are forced to suffocate in levels of 1000ppm+,then! As diessoli also points out,no mention is made of climate in there. You gotta ask in this day and age - why's that then? The cynic in me (and boy there's a lot of it!) leaps to the immediate conclusion that CO2's imagined role and extent must be played down for now, while worldwide weather (the jigsaw pieces of our climate) just isn't playing the game. Expect much more of this trend as time goes on and the awful reality unfolds. Somewhere in the annals of NW I said the winter of 09/10 would toll the bell on this whole farce. See what's happening out there in the big wide world, away from the fantasy land of those who keep on telling us it's been the warmest since whenever? Altogether now.... "it's in the pipeline"!!
  4. The guy states quite clearly that the atmospheric fraction of CO2 has not increased over the last 150 years, nor the last five decades. I did draw particular attention to the paragraph containing that. And I'm not saying that the guy is right or wrong either way, merely highlighting the conflict of opinion even when coming from the same mouthpiece. 100% of anthro CO2 could stay in the atmosphere for all I'm concerned - it does not,can not and will not sway global temps one way or the other - that's what I'm saying.
  5. And from the very same organ.... http://www.scienceda...91230184221.htm With the last two paragraphs being particularly salient here. That is of course if anyone can believe anything at all, these days. Ya takes ya pick.....
  6. Those who 'advocate' global warming seem to be the ones who can't bear the thought that things might actually be getting back to normal (huh?) and that there is in fact no grounds whatsoever for concern, let alone that we could 'tackle' the situation if it existed. I find that worrying. Anyways, signing off for a while - A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERY ONE OF YOU. I'm off to vent some CO2 from me homebrew !
  7. Believing that humanity as a whole can change global climate is one thing, believing that you can do it all by yourself is another,GW. Still, there's so much atmospheric cold around right now it's got a job on just to restore things to an even keel. Watch out for someone somewhere saying it's been the warmest December in the US,Europe etc since .
  8. Yes,but I'd rather not say as I'll end up in trouble. And anyway, warming, cooling or nothing at all, there's always the unspoken (sometimes) inference that anthro CO2 is pulling the strings. That's when I switch off completely - which invariably means everytime. Man I'm getting so bored with it all.
  9. Back to 'square one'. http://www.solarcycle24.com/ Getting chilly out (nope, not some cryptic reference to making a curry) .
  10. Warmers,Coolers and Fence Sitters everywhere - I love you all, really! Have a really good and safe Xmas, and we'll do it all over again in 2010 !
  11. http://www.marketske...or-dummies.html Just found this while mooching around on the 'net whislt killing time before work. No time to read it but seems relevant to where this thread's going. I do like a daily dose of catastrophism! Whether it's garbage or not,I'll have to leave for y'all to decide. See ya.
  12. That my friend is a very, very good idea. I'm off for a pint and a 'smoke' .
  13. I can't afford to fix it. Anyone wanna buy an '89,very low mileage FJ in mint condition (just requires an exhaust) ?
  14. Me too - being a true 'green' and almost the ultimate non-consumer,I am nothing but a hapless bystander watching the madness go down all around. Sometimes I feel like a passenger on a plane (though I've never flown in my life, take note all you 'warmers' who are tempted to play the hypocrisy card) which has suffered catastrophic engine failure and I'm expected to be the one who fixes it before destruction. I've got me bacca(home-grown),I've got me beer(home brewed),I've got me veg plot and a woman who knows. I'm alright,Jack.
  15. I have no axe to grind with that statement,in fact I agree with the sentiment. But I do have a question, and one which I've consistently asked on here - what's 'climate' got to do with anything? When No-Hopenhagen was publicly announced,GB proffered the ridiculous statement that there was fifty days left to save the world. There was some gal on Radio 4 last night assessing the aftermath of the summit and she went one better - saying that we'd now got one year to save the world. She's just the latest in a long list of visionaries who have offerred varying timelines to catastrophe over the years. So it's Mexico or bust, 'til the next time. This stuff is hilarious. They'll still be at it in 2025 when we're all walking around in rags in a blasted landscape of Mad-Maxian proportions but in an ice-age. Still,me and GW have the wherewithall to see it thru'.... ain't we?
  16. Only if you work for Exxon. This guy and his buddy Al (to name but two out of a 'workforce' of millions) make the chief exec of said organisation look like an environmental and moral saint. Honestly Dev,you really are so far gone that you're outta sight. I am now in no doubt whatsoever that you are beyond salvation.
  17. http://www.telegraph...a-Pachauri.html Well whodathunkit??
  18. Au contraire,Pete. Things seem to have gone very quiet on that front, presumably the investigation is going through the necessary channels and we all await the outcome before moving on. Being the outrageous cynic that I am,it's my guess that the whole thing has been suppressed until No-Hopenhagen is over - don't want to scupper proceedings now. Although it's probably fair to say that's happened without any 'outside help'. Personally,(and I emphasise that before Dev starts threatening lawsuits and suchlike),I'd be greasing the handcuffs up right now.
  19. Why don't all us 'deniers' organise mass rallies and return the entertainment that the enviro-whackos at No-Hopenhagen have provided us with? Dunno about mud throwing Dev,all the ground's so solid that we'll have to use snowballs. Ah I know,'tis only weather !
  20. How many years have these pointless (as far as climate goes) talks been going on for? How much money totally wasted? How much more money and years will be wasted on these jamborees? Why don't we just have a resource war right now and be done with? - because that's how it'll all end,I'm thinking. And all the while there'll be hurricanes an' droughts an' floods an' blizzards an' the rise and fall of ice extents an' stuff, just as there ever was and just as there will be when our civilisation(?) has gone the way of myriad others before it.
  21. Yes,sorry. Good job we have Mods otherwise we'd go from talking about Arctic ice to correct choice of curtains or summat within the course of a few pages. It's always the same with anything in the CC arena, being the 'catch-all' that it is. As for the consequences of an ice-free arctic, Al Gore-ithm will let us know in due course I'm sure.
  22. Because that is exactly what the whole debate is about! It is more obvious almost than the fact that it's been snowing overnight. I remember just two years back when many were saying we'd never see snow again in England, courtesy of 'global warming'. I laughed then and I still am. Sorry, starting to drift again .
  23. They'll all be sat at home soon with the feet up in front of a roaring log fire, glass of brandy in hand (on expense account),flicking thru' the holiday brochures. If and when the Arctic goes ice-free it'll cause a dynamic planetary imbalance, generating a wobble like a gyroscope slowing down before falling onto it's side... right in time to live out all those equally fanciful 2012 scenarios! Sorry,I've had a very bad day and need an ale!
  24. Not really OT since Arctic ice or CC in general can't be mentioned these days without the CO2 monkey looking over our shoulders, but to respond to your post if I may, before being hauled back strictly OT,I have to ask - yes,but what's that got to do with anything? Please don't trouble yourself to answer,I already know(and I gotta go to work right now)! . At the time of writing, the ice is doing ok,btw! V.Quickly - just seen your response to DM and y'know what - I agree with you wholeheartedly, except for the bit about ice-free Arctic summers being 'evidence'. But some things are way,way out of our control. You know what I'm talking about! See ya.
  25. I'm wishing the damn stuff would melt overnight completely,or freeze and expand so rapidly that a terrible ice-age kicks off and engulfs the planet. Anything, please,to stop these ridiculous parties going off around the world where all the guests have this idea that they can control it one way or the other by sharing CO2 around.
