  1. Or... if you were stood in the tracks of an oncoming, unstoppable locomotive, would you try to stop it despite being aware of the outcome of such a stunt,or would you leap out of the way?
  2. How long before that becomes 'womanmade' in these enlightened days of equality? Too much testosterone?- pah, there's no real men left these days because of all the oestrogen 'n' stuff that gets into the water supply. Course,I'm immune from all that as I only sup glacial meltwater and ,hold on,think I can hear the missus shouting. Damn, gotta give rebuilding my hairy-chested motorbike a rest and go wash the dishes before she beats me up .
  3. Personally,I'd stuff the enquiry, save lots of cash and lock the lot up right now . Climate will,as ever, look after itself.
  4. Pete you're splitting hairs!! Yes water vapour is invisible (peer closely at the spout of a boiling kettle and you'll observe 'nothing' twixt the spout and the visible steam) - the invisible bit is water vapour and the steam is said water made visible as it cools upon hitting it's relatively cold surroundings ,but it's still there in either case! And before the mating of air and hexane in an engine, that water did not exist. I'm off to rebuild my carburettors ! IIRC,yes that's the right equation!
  5. CO2 isn't the only by-product of fossil fuel combustion - look at the huge clouds of water vapour from exhausts on a cold morning - water that 'existed' moments earlier as atmospheric oxygen and the hydrogen component of hexane. When the penny drops that CO2 has not, does not,can not and will not cause warming, the cry will be to drive less because of all those nasty water emissions...... which will either end up in permanent form as clouds, thus blocking out the sun and ushering in the next ice-age,or fall back to Earth as rain, causing massive sea-level rise which will drown everyone etc . Either way,the car, van, bus, train, motorbike, tractor, plane, train etc are all evil and must be destroyed forever more. Cool,so long as I can get me cycle fixed for one last blow-out!
  6. Nah the box has gone West too. Guess I'll just have to keep saving the pennies. At this rate, peak oil will have been and gone and my steed will be a curio from a bygone age! Blimey, the avenues AGW leads us down,eh,though to be fair I've noticed AGW featuring more and more prominently on other completely unrelated forums I frequent (motorbikes and homebrew being the main subjects of debate). So far,I've totally resisted the urge to join in - NW's quite enough, thanks !
  7. Ah the philosopher's stone realised at last... and everything once treasured rendered worthless in one fell swoop. Nah I'm not mocking it,far from it - just in that surreal state of mind brought on by too many night-shifts and resultant sleep deprivation. Wonder if fusion could turn that pile of spent cat litter into a shiny new exhaust pipe for my dormant iron horse ?
  8. Maybe the scientists are too preoccupied with opening the mail, making the tea, putting up the Xmas trimmings etc to be be troubled by something as trifling and beneath them such as a FOI request? Look, they are all important jobs and something has to give, right? I don't have admin staff but if I was suspected of 'fiddling the system',for example, I'd have to produce income and expenditure details to back up my claims, presumably. Or would a quick "honest I'm not fibbing" suffice? I'm not out to nobble the scientists involved (honest,Dev),but something of the gravitas of 'Climategate' can't be swept under the carpet. I mean y'never know... the outcome might, just might 'turn' me,and lord knows how many others. Wouldn't that be a turn up for the books? On the other hand...
  9. AGW/climate change and all that stuff to one side, (I've given up on it and decided to merely spectate!) I just gotta say... I really like that piece Dev .
  10. The 'warmists'/ 'climate changists' are operating within an impenetrable, delusional CO2-filled bubble which I've grown weary of trying to pop. See y'all.
  11. http://www.best-news...-Global-Warming- 'AGW's reach is far and wide - found this on a MOTORCYCLE website,of all places!
  12. Oh I'm sure it will be a hot summer - it wouldn't do to make out that it's been anything else, know what I mean? I've heard the phrase "it's been the warmest xxxx since xxxx" so many times over the years,we all ought to be frazzled to a crisp by now and the simple act of poking one's nose out the door at midday would reduce you to a slobbering wreck. Guaranteed - as soon as the temp breaches 30C (how many times has that happened in the last three summers?) it will most assuredly be due to us fiddling with the atmosphere and we can expect this to be the norm in blah blah. Complete twaddle of course,as it has so amply demonstrated itself to be,thus far. Personally, being a sun-shunner,I'm hoping and praying that this summer is 2007 all over again, and then some. If that sort of thing is caused by us,where do I sign up?
  13. Wow,cool your boots... and see my post under 'Global Cooling' . Hey BFTP... I take it that's before 'adjustments' ?
  14. Hey sss,how you doing? This is as good a place as any to post this amusing little snippet,re the highlighted part of your post above! http://planetgore.na...OTc3ODkxM2YzOGQ= I posted the link from stewfox elsewhere on this forum,I hope the accompanying smiley and it's purpose were noted! PTFD - I agree that the whole thing has now become such a quagmire that we're all in danger of drowning. The waters have become very choppy and the shore distant. Think I'll retreat and watch as a hapless bystander as to how things play out from now.... happy scrapping, folks!
  15. Agree, pyrotech. The observations of the 'man in the street' will be what eventually topples the 'facts and figures' that we commoners cannot verify.
  16. http://www.dailymail...tarts-here.html Now what ? Go on lads, jump the good ship AGW before it's too late.
  17. Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day. How long has our current (very) cold period been going on for now? Even in the midst of it,'we' are unprepared. It's snowing here again. Maybe the council bigwigs are looking out the window in denial and telling themselves that they must be hallucinating in this warming world. sss - we've been down this road on this forum too many times for me to even consider. I've no stomach to pursue it further,I'm (really) too tired and must get some kip before I pass out. Suffice to say tho' before I go,I can't agree with any of it and feel that the intelligence and integrity of sceptics/deniers is in doubt. Oh dear. I can no longer work out who's trying to convince who and for what reasons,it's all gotten so murky and as far away from being 'settled' as it can get. Sorry but all I can offer right now is a feeble "you go your way and I'll go mine" and one day hopefully the truth will out and for the right reasons and be for the benefit of all. Now I must go to bed! See ya later.
  18. Well I'm still up,stuff sleep it's for wimps ! I don't know what the deal is with councils but it never used to be like this. Apparently, our one gave practically all it's stocks of grit away last year under the delusion that they wouldn't be needing it due to you-know-what. There's no excuse for it this time and IMO all routes are essential. An out-of-the-way cul-de-sac is (almost) as likely to require the emergency services as a busy street. Besides, what's the point of treating normally built-up areas if folk can't leave their street of residence to get there in the first place?! Our road is very, very steep and it's currently at a standstill. Gawd knows when they'll get round to it,despite much pestering. The missus needs to take herself and her family to a hospital 15 miles away on a daily basis to see her ol' man who has been in intensive care (quit the fags if you can, folks) for six weeks, and whose next breath could be the last. Impossible at the moment. But hey that's just one instance of need out of countless others. 'We' haven't changed the polar,or any other climate. Surely you're not seriously saying that Arctic outbreaks were unheard of before the dawn of the industrial revolution?? Anyway, fancy a larf? http://www.independe...ast-724017.html
  19. I'll try,but I'm feeling a little fractious after wading thru' deep, deep snow for miles 'n' miles to get to my nightshift and back. Our council have paid too much heed to the global warming barmpots and have been utterly caught out. Sorry,I'd best go to bed before I regret it !
  20. If we 'continue on' what? The AGW brethren are doing a sterling job of convincing only themselves.
  21. Wasn't too long back that many on NW and in the AGW community were wailing that we'd never see snow again in the UK due to global warming. Now that we have (and how),some are linking it as a result of said warming,it's weather not climate,or it doesn't register in the 'trend' blah blah. It's getting to the point when I've all on to resist projectile vomiting when I hear these people..... Everything, but everything these days is a result of 'climate change' and we must act to stop it. Meanwhile, gotta walk 4 miles thru' a foot of snow to work whilst pondering what to plant in my Meditteranean Style back garden this year.
  22. http://ocean.dmi.dk/...icecover.uk.php
  23. http://www.dailymail...ic-weather.html Oh it's a-changing alright, but not in the direction *everyone* has been led to believe. Bored of saying it now,but it'll take a full-on ice-age before some realise/accept that the game is up.
  24. Ouch! Plenty more juicy morsels in there, too. Just look at some of the organisations which fund CRU - never again let it be said that sceptics/deniers (I'm proudly in the latter camp!) are in the pockets of 'Big Oil'.
  25. Well I'm with you fully that we'll be the architects of our own demise,GW. Looking around, things are shaping up very nicely in that dept, thank you very much. But you know me well enough that I'll say it's nowt to do with a climate in flux (as always),let alone one that we as a species are directing the course of to any degree. We could all be 'carbon neutral' (whatever that's supposed to mean) but our numbers just keep on going up. Something, somewhere along the line has got to give... and the solution is a little more drastic than turning down the thermostat one degree, not leaving appliances on standby and driving electric cars (that might go a little way to plugging the energy gap before the nuke plants get lively and the wind turbines seize up thru' lack of use). But anyway, that belongs elsewhere. Last time I checked (this am!) ice extent it was stuck on Dec 29 - what gives?
