  1. Not me Nog - knocking up 10 gallons today, works out at,ooh,30p a pint maybe ! Before I go 'mashin' and spargin',here's something else you might like to read http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/ambroseevans_pritchard/6432538/Food-will-never-be-so-cheap-again.html
  2. Yes,I'd say 2010 is the pivotal year in the Great Arctic Ice Saga. If the trend to recovery is still ongoing then it's time to put it to bed, though I wouldn't be in the least surprised if purveyors of AGW relate a very different story/outlook to the largely disinterested/passive masses. Regarding the 2060/2080 prognostication... no,I'm not going to get drawn in,I've got 10 gallons of fine English ale to make today!
  3. But it already is,Pete! A carbon dioxide one,and though I'm reliably(?) informed that it keeps getting thicker and thicker, they can't keep up with repairing all the holes which keep appearing in it.
  4. When in doubt, get the electric blanket out, that's what I always say.... a solar lunar powered one, naturally!
  5. Bet it gets pulled for not,er,going to plan, and we'll hear no more of it !
  6. A doctor tells a guy that he's in such poor nick because he's massively overweight, eating way too much of all the wrong stuff and none of the right stuff. He's depressed, not helped by the filling of his head with a daily dose of climate change nonsense from the MSM and the occasional foray into some obscure subscription channel. He gets zero excercise, drinks way too much alcohol and caffeine and smokes a hundred fags a day. For a cure to all his ills, the doctor suggests cutting down to ninety nine fags a day. Naturally, the guy finds this a bit of a tall order,so the doctor and all his learned pals keep on nagging the government to pile as much tax as possible on fags, hoping that one day that'll do the trick and it'll all go away. All well and good, but has nothing in common with climate - unlike the guy, there's actually nothing at all wrong with it.
  7. Well,it'd be very hard to steer without wheels! Sorry,sorry.....
  8. I wonder if 'they' were expecting that?? As if it'd make a difference anyway...
  9. I've gladly given mine... now I'm awaiting lots of attention from the 'correction squad'!
  10. You'll be back,CB. You cannot keep a good man down!
  11. Oh,right! You'll be surprised I didn't check out that option . So the 'count me outs' get a visit in the night, and the 'count me ins' will get a huge bundle of AGW propaganda to distribute amongst their sceptical associates! Come in useful for starting the Nov 5th bonfires,I suppose. Tamara, might be worth going for the free nosh and champagne, wonder if they've got bingo and a 'turn' on?
  12. When you click on 'count me out', you get a message wanting to know who you are,and that the government will be informed!! What happens next - do they send the knee-capping crew around in the dead of night and gently persuade you to 'reconsider'? Anyways, three guesses as to how I've voted!
  13. Sounds good GW,but wouldn't that just prolong the misery? A change is as good as a rest,or so I'm told!
  14. Aren't they all as bent as each other?
  15. I am grown up,and I am being treated like a child - witness 'that' teevee ad. Stark, staring mad is putting it very mildly.
  16. I bet most Britons are quaking in their boots at that prospect! If someone had told me that we'd be 2C warmer (or colder) when I was a sub 10 year-old,fiftyish years hence,it wouldn't have meant a thing. It's wrong on all levels. Anyway, how many days left before our destiny is sealed (or not)? I ask in all seriousness,is there anyone who really, genuinely believes that the outcome of the Copenhagen jamboree will stabilise global climate or cause cooling, indeed affect it in anyway and change whatever course it decides upon? Yes? You're all stark, staring mad.
  17. What offends me most about the 'ad' is not that it might be upsetting or scary for children, but the fact that it's complete and utter cobblers and an insult to our intelligence. Such an outrageous, total waste of a huge amount of our money in these days when so many of us are struggling to pay the bill for the stuff they are urging us to use less of,doesn't go down very well either. AGW a huge cover-up for something far more sinister and very real? You bet it is. Dev,maybe they aren't idiots, maybe they are - but they sure as hell treat us as such. What goes around, etc.
  18. A very good post Noggin,if you don't mind me saying! I've changed my tack on the advert - if the nipper and me see it,I'm gonna play along and tell him that it's all true and that we are indeed going to burn in the flames of a CO2 inspired hell etc etc, whilst simultaneously chucking his nintendo out the window to save the world. When he's reduced to a slobbering wreck and having suicidal thoughts at his impending doom (and the loss of his nintendo),I'll put a compensation claim in against the government. Well, everyone else is at it these days. That'll reyten the buggers,as they say oop North. The sooner they take it off and replace it with a documentary on how they've utterly condemned us to what's coming with their lack of foresight re energy provision, the better.
  19. It's not a burden GW,it's a blessing. Maybe we'll be around long enough to understand that. Past environments that had 'elevated' (by whose yardstick, Jim Hansen's? ) CO2 levels were a result of the then environment, not because of it. Latecommer: better late than never, stick around.
  20. C. Booker's commentary on the ad. Lot's of folk out there reading and nodding their heads. All good stuff. http://www.telegraph...reality....html I've not seen it,but if it comes on in the presence of me and my seven year-old lad,we'll have a good chuckle over it until something serious like SpongeBob Squarepants comes back on. No,seriously.
  21. Excellent commentary from Caruba on this http://factsnotfanta...se-leaders.html
  22. Only very recently,we had 10 years to save the world. Then it was five, now it's 50 days. Let them get on with it. Having got what they wanted I presume we'll hear no more of AGW and all those thousands upon thousands depending on it will be down the labour exchange, their positions being rendered effectively redundant with the 'saving of the world'?
  23. Very true. But it's alright for GB saying do this and do that on one hand, then effectively giving folk two grand to buy one of those nasty polluting cars, for example! Well y'know me TWS,I think 'they' should leave climate out of it altogether as I really believe most folk aren't buying it anymore. The sooner they tell it like it is,the better. I do think most folk have sussed it actually, and like me are going about their daily lives with a growing sense of unease. I also think that the vast, vast majority of folk live within their means and wonder what the hell he's talking about when we're told to 'act'. Whether by choice or circumstance I feel most people aren't in a position to reduce their 'carbon footprint' (jeez I hate that phrase!) much further. As for 'acting' it's not me,you,or anyone on NW who can authorise construction of nuclear plants. C'mon Gordon - 'act'!
  24. http://weblogs.wgntv...illiest-in.html 'Someone' will be saying it's the warmest they've had since time began and we must act to stop it etc etc !
  25. Hmm. Perhaps an ELE is on the horizon which can be squarely levelled at us - taking pessimism to the extreme, that is. Unchecked population growth, the ever increasing squeeze on natural resources and the resulting conflict may well do for us. Maybe not! AGW/CC are pseudonyms for such a scenario. GW,may I gently point out that a change of tack may be in order, and that you give vent to your pessimism on the exact opposite of global warming? Given the scrabble for land and resources right now, never mind what it'll be like not far down the road,a warmer world would be infinitely preferable to a colder one. Alas, that ain't to be...
