  1. Well here it seems like we were just about the least affected area in the SW as usual...Typical..
  2. Wow amazing photos, How id love to have some snow like that! but were any of the drifts ten feet deep?
  3. We have about half an inch here possibly more from some steady but mostly light snow last night. I think there might be more snow just to the north of us as the ppn was very slow moving and the radar showed snow just to the north of us before it started properly here and afterwards...if that makes sence lol Under clear skies the temp has now plummeted to -6.3c here!
  4. After watching the Netweather Extra with snow so painfully slow moving just a couple of miles to the north of us! its finally snowing with some quite big flakes bit still only light to moderate. Settleing well though at -1.8c... we have about 1cm now.. yes 1cm lol
  5. light snow started here. I suppose its like the drizzle form of snow but not snow granes just lots of very small flakes floating down. Dusting from earlier hasnt melted at all. temp: -1.4c
  6. Just got home and after a nice snow shower we have a dusting of snow. Temp dropped to -1.0c now high today 1.3c What would be ideal is if that blob to the east of us makes it to me then pivots over us due to the circulation of the low. Prob wont happen though.
  7. OMG we actually have the lightest of the lightest possible of snow falling here. just looks like a tiny bit of sugar on the car *Thud*
  8. hmm N. Dorset can get an inch but the showers completely fizzle before east Devon...
  9. Ok i apologise for my really negative post just now was just feeling really **** off at the time lol.. anyway im looking forward to later tomorrow which seems to have upgraded a bit
  10. Sod it im off to bed. snow seems to be able to cross the Pennines without dieing much but not southern England. I just wanted s bit of dry snow tonight when the temp is well below freezing im afraid.
  11. Lol as usual the snow moving across the south seems to be completely dieing out before it gets here! snow showers dont seem to be dieing out so much elsewhere and even made it across wales into the Irish sea when they were less intense in the east than this lot was. Why are the ones coming towards me dieing out so much??? sorry for the winge but this always happens here!
  12. The dewpoint has plummeted here in the last 40 mins with dewpoint and humidity still dropping temp: 0.1c dewpoint: -7.9c humidity: 55% I hope we can get atleast a dusting tonight here as it will settle streight away with the temps forecast around -2c /-3c. then i hope for more snow tomorrrow and tomorow night lol.. think i should see at least a bit looking at the charts though nothing like some places in the east. theres a more organised area of showers coming into the SE now hopefully they can cross the south without dieing completely
  13. Very light snow here. can just see a few flakes blowing in the wind. Blue sky now approaching from the NE for the first time today. temp 1.4c dew -4.3c
  14. I think we need to start hopecasting the warm sector back west again just to annoy the easterners! Its About time we had something for once! Luckily unlike the BBC who have any precip dieing out over these parts and it becoming almost completely dry, the GFS does still have precip which would be snow over this area tomorrow night. Still looking quite good from the GFS 00z run. Lets hope the 06z says the same or more precip and we do actually get decent snow. Ive seen it going somewhere else (usually east) and missing us at the last minute enough times before Edit just to say remember that those charts show the rate water equivalent ppn fall per hour and 1cm of rain is roughly 10cm of snow.
  15. I have followed this thread with great interest since it was started and I think it is probably one of the best on Netweather. I have learnt alot since the start of this thread to add to the basic info I already knew. I really enjoy the great posts that are made in here and will continue to follow with interest especially with this major SSW currently occuring. Keep up the great work guys
  16. Thanks for posting this! :o :o I saw this online the other day and was meaning to post this aswell but then went and forgot! lol. This is a better article than i saw anyway. Its amazing and very interesting as it formed on the same river that runs about 50 meters behind my house! although several miles upstream from here. Just as a side note the coldest it got down to around here -9c and a bit below in some places on Tuesday night last week. Id love to see one myself.
  17. Breezy and overcast, Temp: 8.8c Dewpoint 6.6c Hunidity: 86% Wind: 13mph gusting 22mph Windchill: 5.2c Pressure: 1006.6mb Max today: 8.8c @ 7:20 Min today: 8.3c @ 3:47 Rain today 0.2mm
  18. -2c to start off with yesterday with some freezing mist and fog drifting about in the valley forming a slight rime frost. then it became milder, breezy, dull and damp through the day with light rain and drizzle. mean temp: 3.7c max was: 9.0c @ 19:15 min was -2.2c @ 5:55 rain total: 1.8mm max gust: 26mph @ 18:15
  19. I remember the 9th of Feb 2007 too. All it meant here though was what was forecast to be a bit of rain skirting with the south coast turned out to be a very wet day with heavy rain causing localised flooding while in the evening I watched the news reports of more heavy snow further north... lol.
  20. Wow excellent snowy scenes there! wish we had some down here. Don't make me too jealous now...
  21. Some very nice wintry pics there! I wish we had some of that down here.
  22. Yes I was thinking the same when I postet just now. They seem to have done the same for January in their last update too, were forecasting Above average until they changed it to below average just before Christmas. This forecast got it reasonably close from the start and I agree is worthy of merit IMO too.
  23. Well all I'm going to say is try to look for a Lrf for the winter that has done better than this, especially one that hasn't been edited/changed. If you find one I will be very surprised. I don't know why some people have to try to find fault with these things. I wont mention names (may be easy to guess though) but I think a few comments on the previous page may have been a bit unreasonable. Even if it does turn out wrong in the end its interesting to see how it goes, what was forecast near enough correct and what wasn't and how reliable this method of forecasting is. Keep up the great work guys! Ps: the night of the 12th to 13th December we recorded our highest wind gust since early October and the highest 12hour rainfall total since I set up my weather station over a year ago and there was bad flooding around here.
  24. We seem to have a bit of rather unwelcome and unforecast cloud invading from ESE off the channel meaning the temp is now stuck at 1.1c after a high of 2.4c earlier when it was sunny at 1pm. I hope this cloud shifts its a**e quickly or else it will stop the temperature dropping. Thankfully it looks like it will clear from the east looking at the satellite loop Still some frost in the back garden from this morning. Min temp -2.3c @ 8:38 Max temp 2.4c @ 13:01 Current temp: 1.1c
