  7. Had the best NO i can remember here yestarday. it actually stopped NOing for a while when i was in a maths test but the NO was falling heavily again by the time i even got to look out side the NO last night was so torrential for a while last night that you could even hear it hammering on the roof! (or in my head!) you sometimes get that with rain but not with NO!!!! even when the NW radar said the NO should have stopped it continued falling heavily. NO still falling today which brought the temp up to 9.2C! heavy NO also brought the temp up to 8.9C yesterday before the brief lul in the NO let the temp drop to 1.9C Very NO filled skies continuing across the country today providing excellent driving conditions...

  14. yes thanks for that john. that must have been what happend. i was just suprised at the amounts that the fog was able to create for some areas even with added moisture. very interesting and detailed post there as always
  15. Well looking at the pictures people have posted and what they have said i would call it snow. just as people would if the fog was higher up (cloud) its the same process i would guess just in fog? I am very suprised that the fog could create this much stuff though and i have not heard of this before.

  18. Hi again all. I forgot about this for a bit and havn't really found time to reply again until now, but what happend was it seemed to just 'self fix' its self and has been working perfectly ever since! Very odd! since then i have been up and tightend the screw thing on the cup assembly (forgotten its proper name) and made sure there is no other problems and it continues to work just fine! infact it recorded a gust of 46mph here today. if it goes wrong again then ill just have to contact the retailer and replace it as people have said as it is still under warranty until Oct 08
  19. plenty spreadin across the country tonight with more through the week. oh wait thats in its liquid form isnt it... but it was snow up in the sky before it hit the ground... ok the mountains of Wales and northern England might get a bit tonight and tomorrow but for a decent fall i would say high ground of northern England from a small low passing over the north midlands area sometime this month.
  20. just a quick one also, but i have noticed my number of posts seems to have got stuck at 124 ill see if it stays at that after this post oops lol its started counting again http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif but it definitely stopped for a while when i was posting, not that it matters though

  22. Hi all I just noticed about two hours ago now that the anemometer from my Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station is being a bit odd. (and also at the worst of times!) indeed it was a bit surprising hearing a rather strong breeze on the northwest side of the house but my weather station reporting 0mph! and heres the strange bit, it is still measuring wind direction perfictly! so it cant be a connestion/reception problem. I have been outside and checked with a torch and the anemometer cups are spinning as normal, yet no readings, exept every now and again when i get 1mph! and other times it suddenly starts working as normal for a short while. I first thought the problem had started today but looking at the data it looks like the problem started yesterday. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problems, or knew how to sort it out? And i certainly hope it has not gone wrong already as i only bought it in october! Thanks.
  23. I can remember when it snowed at about 6-7C in light showers on a light - moderate NNW nnw breeze. infact i think it was almost all snow and some soft hail. apart from the showers it was a lovely sunny spring day with low dewpoints.
  24. A nice surprise here with a nice air frost and a min of -2.2C at 8:03. tis still -1.6 now but there is high and medium level cloud covering most of the sky, mostly altostratus. humidity: 94% wind: 1mph NNW pressure: 1011.4hpa(rising slowly) rain today: 0.0mm dewpoint: -2.4C windchill:-1.6C
  25. I havn't heard about avalanches or threat of them outside scotland before in recent years. I wish I was up there though as all I managed to get yesterday was just the lightest of flurries wish i lived up north sometimes. Wasn't that avalanche in Sussex on the 27th december 1836? and as someone already mentioned killed 8 people
