  1. It wasn't stolen off another forum I swear
  2. Yeah think we had the same. When it started raining there was tapping against my window, like hail but not as violent. Wasn't worth staring at the lamp post for anyway, still awaiting the first snowflakes of the season!
  3. Well I am in goal and on astroturf, which is pretty painful to dive on at the best of times, let alone when it is frozen as hard as concrete! Still, nothing beats playing football in the snow. It won't come off though, we have been let down so many times...but it is impossible not to dream about what might be!
  4. Are you still going to abstain from looking at every model run as they come out if this continues?
  5. The annual 6th form Christmas match is at my school is on December 18th, will be interesting if this came off! http://212.100.247.145/viewimage.pbx?type=gfs;date=20091202;time=06;ext=384;file=h850t850eu;sess=73204553357400d61dc5d74eded1e2d4
  6. The GFS really has gone insane this morning. I know it is at the deepest end of FI, but how often do we see the -10 850 line making a bee line for northern Spain?!
  7. Yeah think it's mainly rain down here, wasn't expecting anything anyway.
  8. Managed to get -3.8c last night which is better than I thought. Only the second sub-zero night of the autumn I think, very poor.
  9. Managed -0.7c earlier in the month, that should easily be beaten tonight I would have thought.
  10. 0.3c now, should be below freezing very soon, wouldn't rule out a -3c tonight. http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=I90579761
  11. You will be pushing it I think. £100+ for ones which tell the dew point I would have thought. Perhaps eBay might have some bargains?
  12. I don't think you can get much more than a temperature sensor for £40. Oregon Scientific are good for small ones. http://www.oregonscientific.co.uk/cat-Weather-sub-Thermometers.html They're not cheap, mine cost £600
  13. 0.9c here now, will probably get down to around -2.5c or thereabouts. Still dropping like a stone.
  14. 2.6c now, should be a decent frost tonight http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=I90579761
  15. You wait a while for another offer and 2 come at once!I have got an offer from Birmingham for Mathematics, ABB which is absolutely fantastic. Usually AAB but again due to the fact I do Further Maths it has notched it down a grade. Second one is from Leeds for Meteorology and Atmospheric Science, BBB.Now it's all down to you Reading!
  16. I don't mind the term "modern era" when it is used to describe the remarkably mild winters of the past 20 years or so, not denying that this is a freakishly long mild run. What annoys me (and others after skimming through this thread) is the frequency that it is used by a certain member - I have the same opinion as TEITS here. I don't mind Ian coming up with his own theory and occasionally mentioning it - but it's the constant use and referral to explain everything that gets to me. The "modern era" doesn't automatically mean we will never, ever get a properly cold winter again. It WILL happen. We might have to wait a while but it has to happen eventually - even in a warming world.
  17. Yeah I know, I thought the exact same thing when I first read that . I should bloody well hope we get replies by May 7th! I will be starting my exams just after that!
  18. That's a point though, they are eager to splash the cash into making predictions for our future climate, releasing publication after publication - but still only give a half-arsed 3 month forecast!
  19. Congrats! Unfortunately not, but at least I have had no rejections I guess. Hopefully I will get another one this week - will be great if Reading respond soon.
  20. Well they could at least have a stab at explaining it, or tell the truth and say they simply don't know!
  21. Think I will stick to the Netweather forecast, at least that explains it!
  22. It was a sarcastic exaggeration, apologies but sarcasm doesn't really translate through type!
  23. You know what, that is exactly what I was thinking the other day! The BBC always start crying when there is a hint of a 0.0001c temperature rise in the next 100 years, saying it's the end of the world. But when it's 16c in the middle of January they have beaming smiles on their face!
  24. Would take that certainly! Will have a good read of it now, hopefully some of it might sink in...
