  1. http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/35985-what-data-does-the-gfs-use/ That's the data that the GFS uses for each run. So the reason they can change from one run to the next is because the input changes.
  2. Nope, it is definately short-sighted. It's all very well sending robotic craft out, but its not the robots that have the desire to explore and in the end, settle new planets. Mostly out of need I suspect. Humans need to be regularly going on to to the moon etc if only to constantly develop new technologies that help US to be in the space.
  3. Pretty miserable first thing, but dried up now. If this is the alternative to bright, cold mornings with snow on the ground, I take it all back. I want the snow! Still, less than 4 weeks and we shall, officially at least, be in Spring! As for the MO thread... haha. I think the one thing we can guage from there, is that they really, and trully...haven't a clue.
  4. Yup indeed, the true sound of the summers evening, a day in the surf, followed by a cold drink and BBQ as the sun sets. It's one of the moments that makes this country OK to live in Polzeath outside of holidays... no where better. (OK a little chilly in January)
  5. Ian, you are kidding of course? He played Hyde Park in 2008, that was really good! Despite the rain of course.
  6. Evenin'! Nice to see we have gone from snow this morning to rain now. Great. Still, holding out much hope for next week and then that will do me fine for winter. It can warm up then.
  7. Pah! There are far better places for surfing than Newquay! (and with less 12 year olds trying to get drunk and falling off cliffs instead) But yes, taxi not cheap. But cheaper than a baby. Have fun in the real world, I'm going to go and make enchilladas I think.
  8. Weather, pah, whats that? Ah, you see, the perfection will be the lack of mud, and 16hours of wall to wall sunshine. Something that never happens at Glastonbury The one downside is the need for a taxi to and from said campsite to said Eden Session. Well, assuming cider (which is good for the soul) is being drunk
  9. I don't know, on the way home the car was still there, with police tape over it, not sure if thats good or bad? Yup, June 26th! Awesome, got the email today as I've got that Eden thing to get 7 days priority for tickets. Gonna be great! Combine it with a weekend surfing, camping and cider drinking! Summertime!!
  10. Hey hey, Shocking roads this morning, passed a pretty bad looking accident on one of the country roads on the way to work, car missing its front end, police and an ambulance trying to get the girl out. Took 45mins to do a 25min journey! Anyway, models looking more promising now, and in line with the Beeb from last night. And! Jack Johnson at the Eden Sessions! Ah, summer is a coming!
  11. I was in Bath over the weekend, but saw the remains of the snow on Haldon, as I got back to the Moor the snow came down again, this was about 3ish, and has left a covering everywhere up here, but nothing to write home about. Although, enough now its frozen to make the road nice and dodgy! How was Torquay?
  12. Evening Ian, Good to see you back Nice and cold here now, with the snow frozen.
  13. Cold, less cold, colder, less cold, mild, BBQ Thats roughly til the weekend. After that who knows, but I'm going to stick my neck out and say the ECM ensembles will be showing colder again after the weekend. Thats what the Beeb are going for, and thats quite a neck to stick out. Good weekend had, being finished off with steak, chips and red wine! Awesome!
  14. Have I missed something? The head of the ICO clearly believes that the UEA stopped people getting to the data. But we can of course bury our heads in the sand and pretend it didn't happen. Anyway, i've had a good weekend and really cannot be bothered to waste my time on these climate threads anymore. Its just one circle after another and lots of heads up arses. Ciao.
  15. G'day everyone! Drove up to Bath on Friday and had quite a bit of snow falling just past Wells on the A39 and there was a dusting on the grass and cars in Bath, then just started back on to the moor this afternoon and the snow started, and now everything is white out, but the snow was only shortlived (30mins) and has now stopped, with not alot else on the radar (which just crashed my IE ) Bitterly cold yesterday! and -0.4C here. (was -1.3C in the snow according to the car)
  16. The Times (which had it on the front page yesterday) actually goes on to say it might be harder for Dr Jones to come back now. Anyway, have a nice weekend all. I'm off for some fun and games.
  17. Sounds good, I'm off to Bath in an hour or so for the weekend, perhaps more chance up there than down here! Its 2.4C now with a DP of 0.4C but the sun is shining. Rather gusty northerly wind.
  18. I'm not sure I understand. The report is out into the FoI claim, its done, dusted.
  19. The ICO investigated a compaint by a scientist into the UEA and found them in breach of the act. I believe it seperate to the enquiry taking place into the actual data. Oh, and in respect to this investigtion, yes they are.
  20. Break glass bottles in half, sand and place neck (not sharp) side down into the mole hill. As the wind blows over the top it funnels sound down into the hole through the neck and the moles move on, neighbours up the road did this and the moles moved out into the fields.
  21. A statutory act in this country comes above so called binding agreements that form the basis of contracts. The Freedom of Information is one such act. Therefore they were bound by the law to provide this information whenever it was requested under the act. That they didn't means they broke the law. A HR department receives a P45 from a new employee, on this form is details of tax code, pay so far this year, name, address etc. This is NOT the companies information but the employees, however the company is bound to protect this information by law and release to HMRC as when fit. Not quite an exact fit, but the gist is the same. If he held the data, people can request it under the FoI, no amount of 'it's not my fault, it wasn't mine' is going t get him out of that, its just a shame they can't be prosecuted because of a time constraint, which the ICO are looking to change for future cases.
  22. I think the main problem the ICO had was the that there was actions to block the requests from certain elements. If they weren't so petty and just released the data as per the law, then they wouldn't of got into half the mess they are in now. Did he steal the data then?
  23. Local forecasts were for 4C max Sat and Sun, 7C on Monday and 10C on Tuesday! Very little snow and rain on Tuesday. Well, that has to be the biggest damp squib ever! For an event to be cold it has to be colder than the fridge...
  24. Sounds like steps in the right direction to me, and look forward to future developments later this year.
  25. If we see a series of cold winters over the NH and even more importantly cool summers, we will see the Arctic ice slip south over the coming years. It is, interestingly, the cooler summers and not necessarily the colder winters that cause ice ages...
