  1. Thanks for the updates Ian. Good Country File forcast for next week and beyond with more snow around generally on Thursday and Friday
  2. And yet the paper does seem to state the obvious, which we have gone over already today. So its not so much lapping up as confirming my suspicions.
  3. The caption eludes to the gagging order put on by the previous administration which is being carried on by the new one. Nothing to do with causing earthquakes.
  4. My max was 1.7C today, darn chilly out there now, and damp. Not nice at all. Hopefully we will either get snow or dry, crisp days. Oh, and yes, its dark
  5. Well aren't you the lucky one The fog has lifted here, to be replaced by damp overcastness ... still cold! Was quite nice and warm in the sun yesterday, no such luck from now on though. Still, got me tickets to JJ so I'm happy!
  6. Hmm, effectively I said that why should we assume the reporter is making it up? Perhaps for the sake of arguement we should assume that Dr Watson did say and the reporter did make it up. Unfortunately they are mutally exclusive and I can only go on what I have read.
  7. I think the only people that know either way are the reporter and Dr Watson. If he doesn't complain then I think we will have to assume he did say it. Good job we don't expect perfection, as its rather a long way from that at the moment
  8. Apologies, thats the result of trying to do 100 things at once However, I think we can take a logical approach and assume that if the IPCC mistakes do keep on coming then the credibility will fall. Can't we? I mean, how far can you take the trust of someone or something who keeps getting things wrong? Especially if the results affect not just one or two people, but 6billion+.
  9. It was in direct quote marks, so whose spinning what? Your world must be very dark if you can trust no one.
  10. What about central Devon? NW homepage is showing snow for me tomorrow... I can't keep up
  11. Pretty sure I'd jump, depending on other factors, who else was there etc. etc. (That is unless I'd had my spinach)
  12. Agreed, perhaps not, but does that mean it/we can't? I mean I can go on holiday to Finland where its -40C and then to Egypt where its +50C and survive quite nicely. (People also live in these places, as do flora and fauna) So, even if there is a rapid change, I'm not sure it will make much difference. Other than perhaps superficial. Next time perhaps I shall dig up a small oak tree to take with me and plant one in each location... i'll report back
  13. Always the risk, I think next week will be pretty snowless for us, but moving into the weekend and beyond... perhaps
  14. Thats what I was getting at when GW was talking about controlling thing etc. i.e. There is no point worrying about things we cannot control, because, as you state, things are pretty good at adapting when the need arises.
  15. If there was a permanent lunar base though then it would make things easier, less trips up and down to the moon etc.
  16. The west as a whole generally does less well out of a direct easterly, unless its a very potent one which enables showers to push in land. Ideally for snow we would want a low skirting along N'ern France, but snow can pop up from no where and if cold becomes entrenched like last time the breakdown should provide some interest. Edit: dogs, that update is pretty good! No hint of anything other than 'cold' from the MO and they have been pretty consistent with their outlooks for this cold spell, despite the model wobbles. All to play for imo.
  17. So best we get back to the moon and send future launches into deep space from there then no? What with there being less mass and less gravity.
  18. I have no preference, I like both cold climates and hot climates, I enjoy skiing and sand boarding, I enjoy jacuzzis in the snow and parties by the pool. The point I was making was that if the globe, on average warms enough, and we see enough fresh water going into the north Atlantic then we might see the main driver of our warmer climate (in this area) slow down and evenutally stop, which would lead to our region cooling against the trend. Interesting don't you think that the areas that have been cooler are the areas that on the whole are warmed by the gulf stream. Anyway, can't stop. I'm off out to buy some olive trees.
  19. Survival of the fittest. The ability to adapt and think on ones feet. The ability to go with the flow, so on and so forth.
  20. Riiiiiight. So we got all this way as a species because we 'knew' what was coming all the time? I must of missed that bit about climate models being around a few hundred thousand years ago. Looks likely Darwin was bang on the money.
  21. So you agree then Dev? Parts of the NH could cool while other areas warm. This is good news.
