  1. This isn't some kind or competition, its just various people giving various opinions on what they see/think/believe is happening. For example, I go surfing in the sea off Cornwall and have done for many years, I can't say I've noticed the sea getting any warmer, nor the temperatures on shore likewise, ergo, from my point of view there is little to suggest this warming is taking place, indeed 12 years ago when I was taking my GCSEs it seemed a lot warmer than it has over those last 12 years, IMBY I know, but isn't that the point, MBY does make up part of this globe.
  2. Looks like spring is put back again. Typical. But then if it can't be warm and sunny it might as well be cold and snowy. Rain is a no no whichever way!
  3. That 10 over me then is going to be... 10mm of rain or 10cm of snow?
  4. Aside from that, as far as I know, the only things being said on here regarding areas of the NH being colder are just that. Is it/It is possible for these areas to trend colder without the rest of the globe doing so. Accelerated warming in the last 60 years can be linked to a much more active sun in the sametime period, so there is one 'other' possibility without even engaging half of a braincell. Funny, was talking about this at work, and a straw poll suggested 100% of peope didn't believe in our being responsible for the warming, and even if we were seeing much of said warming in the UK.
  5. Thats good news, does it give any indications of amounts etc? Or if you have the link?
  6. Yeah I saw that as I drove home, there was snow up there and over further, but down below 1300 feet it was sleety. At home now, and the snow has got very light, but didn't settle. The hills higher are covered in cloud so can't say if they have any more snow or not. Hopefully we will see that line drop overnight, and the PPN arrives at the sametime. My low last night was -3.4C, currently 1.2C with a DP of 0.3C (hence the lack of settling I suppose)
  7. Its snowing! Although trying hard to settle, its not quite there!
  8. Just popped out of work for a bit, and noticed the moors have a covering from about 1400-1500 feet upwards, the snow at home doesn't look like it will have settled with those heights, but good to see in the distance!
  9. Morning all, was snowing at home when I left for work which gradually became sleet as I got further down, and here it was just horrible cold heavy rain, will be interesting to see what happens at home though. More akin to Vancouver than Devon at the moment
  10. Oh well, rain it is then. Roll on Spring! Any chance of a southerly plume next week?
  11. It's not really 'late' though is it? It's only Feb, which is typically our coldest month and the one we get the most snow in, although this year has altered things a little with snow in December and even more in January. I agree though, this time around, the further south the more transient it might be, whether it turns to rain remains to be seen. Assuming it comes off at all that it
  12. -1C and misty playing tennis, not fun, but some good matches. -2.3C up here and clear, lovely view of the stars tonight, very impressive show... the joy of no light pollution.
  13. I'd love a hot summer, if only because the last 3 have been rubbish for doing what we love best... camping and surfing down in Cornwall, well the surfs been fine, but the rain  We shall see though, I'm not going to hold my breath
  14. Snow you say... what a turn up  I'm just off to tennis, and the temp is hovering around freezing... which might make the roads interesting on the way home after all the rain today. Ian, look foward to reading what you have to type tomorrow regarding Thursday, as up to now its been shown as heavy rain from the Beeb.
  15. I didn't think they were, but it was a mis-quote non the less I guess I'm just intrigued to see two years with 1 in 30 year events in a row and whats been happening to 'buck the trend' in some parts of the NH.
  16. A channel low that moves along the N'ern coast of France will have easterly winds along its northern edge (as lows rotate anti clockwise in this hempisphere) and being a low have greater chance of PPN, so in winter, with cold in place already you get some nice snowfall. My max today was 3.9C and its currently 0.9C (as soon as the rain stopped, the clouds cleared the temp just dropped away)
  17. Hence the "so on and so forth" Oh, and if you are going to quote me, do it properly.
  18. Hasn't felt warm in the 'summer' here for the last 3 years. But anyway, as I said, it was pretty hypothetical, but the way most ice ages get going is a cold winter followed by a cold summer, as the ice doesn't retreat as much and so on and so forth.
  19. One what? I think you'll find it was all, like most things on here, pretty hypothetical.
  20. Rain, low cloud, mist and general bleugh now! Nothing worse than serving in the rain... gets in your eyes models are trending more towards cold again, will this winter ever end? Teleconnections all pointing towards it extending into March. even larger teapot, as if!
  21. Yeah, sleety stuff up here to, got alot colder than this morning and definately not mild. 2.1C Once again, tennis looks like being cold. So much for the summer sport
  22. The snow drops still aren't flowering up here, but I can see a little white now! Anyway, not so cold today, bit damp but the sun keeps trying to poke through... looks like the models don't want to let go of winter just yet. What's the point in living in the warmest corner of the country if it stays cold?! Oh yes, the surfing
  23. I think he denied it. Although I fully intend to have lots of BBQs this summer. Regardless of wether the Met Office say I can or not
