  1. I suppose that's because you're on the coast? We are prone to slightly lower temps here being in a valley and slight frost hollow.
  2. Still 16.7c here - though we may nudge 17c if tomorrow is a hot one. Max temps have been nothing special but high minimums (8.6c lowest this month) are helping to keep the average up overall.
  3. Lovely day! Currently 23.4c here atm. We managed 24.2c yesterday - should beat it but there is a bit of high cloud now.
  4. Great to have this back! Strap yourself in everyone - winter 17/18 could be one hell of a ride.* *or just mild, wet and boring.
  5. I've only just started to record daily temps here (since 12th). So far we are averaging 16.9c with average low of 12.2c and high of 21.6c. Pretty close to the average for this part of the world in August.
  6. I will go first and punt for something reasonably close to the average of the last 15 years. I think we will likely continue on an unsettled note but with a lack of any low minimums. 13.9c for me please.
  7. We went under 8.30pm sunset time yesterday. Very noticeable now, especially in the mornings. Bring it on!!
  8. Looking at that camera, there is quite a bit of snow showing this morning on the Lauberhorn!
  9. Must admit I expected a drop after the shocking weather of yesterday! The SE was only registering maximas of around 15c.
  10. Yes, radar returns look quite impressive currently. Am very surprised the met office don't have a warning in place. Road conditions could become very bad with localised flooding highly likely.
  11. Feels like it has been 17.1c for weeks! Personally I think the CET paints a better picture for this month than the reality. It's been mostly cloudy and cool to average. The warmish start has prevented an average to slightly below average CET.
  12. High summer and here it is currently dark, raining and only 13.4c and falling! More like an October day.
  13. Must admit I was surprised to see Heathrow hitting 32c yesterday. It certainly seems to be the case now that breaking the 30c barrier is a little earlier compared to years gone by. I still remain sceptical of us getting to 40c though - perhaps a very localised occurrence in the future but certainly not widespread.
  14. Don't usually participate in this competition but think I will make a start I'm going to go for 11.1c. Think it will be a sunny month overall and will continue the run of above average monthly temps. March has had some beautiful days - starting to become a mild lover as I get older haha!
  15. Personally think the ECM is just over amplifying things again. Look at the ECM and imagine everything 500 miles further south and you probably won't be far off. Surely the issue with any possible easterly is yet again the lack of low heights over southern Europe. We seem stuck in a pattern of the mid latitude high wandering around near us and I think this will continue for the rest of winter.
  16. Yes... but not every easterly ends up like 1991 either. Even if we do end up with an easterly at some point it could quite easily be nothing more than mediocre uppers and drizzle.
  17. Think the references to 1991 that keep cropping up are just straw clutching. If I bake 10 cakes with the exact same ingredients and method they would still come out slightly different everytime and I believe it's the same with the atmosphere. Personally think a spell of Westerlies is likely going forward.
  18. In all fairness though....looking at how much the verification stats chop and change is it not just a case of luck for a particular run latching on to the right pattern. It is like they are all stumbling around in the dark looking for a light switch.....one day the 18z will find it, the next the 12z etc.
  19. To be honest I am already starting to crave a little warmth now and I am looking forward to making a big effort with the garden this year. We moved house mid-July last year, so this if my first chance to start afresh out back! Cannot wait for a few bbq's - snow is fun but warmth is a little more chaser friendly. If a warm spell downgrades from 29c to 25c......so what still plenty warm enough. If a cold spell downgrades from 0c upto 4c then it is a disaster!
