  1. Washing away half the cricket season? Not a chance! You can get rain whenever (one reason I like snow too). A blazing hot summer please! Though just for the South of England - everyone else can have what they want, just so long as we're regularly in the high 20s!
  2. So lads, when's summer again? Starting to look forward to the days of 30 degree heat, down the beach (at home) and cricket matches! Paradise!
  3. This must be the most female precipitation ever, it just can't make up it's mind! *Runs quickly* Seriously, it's not knowing if it should rain, sleet, snow or stay dry! Just having another random bout of snow - looks pretty too, but this will no doubt turn to sleet at any second!
  4. I promise you, I did not see a single flake of snow falling in that winter! Terrible winter!
  5. Not quite.... I can't decide whether it's snowing or sleeting here at the moment. Looks a bit queer anyway.
  6. Yeah! Yeah!!! YEAH!!!!! Still very light in Nottingham, but what did you expect right now!
  7. No, not really! Now snow here yet...says he as snow starts falling as he types...
  8. Well, like every man and his dog in the United Kingdom, I'm having a bit of a thaw too. But (according to the radar) - it looks like whatever will fall today will be snow, and looks promising out to the east!
  9. Still dunno why you don't just use the free radar at http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ - not quite as good, but it does the job! You should be fine for the while if things become marginal, being over the Moor. Obvs.
  10. Me and a mate took a barrel of Thatchers Heritage to a 3 day music festival and caned the lot between us! Next year, it's the Cheddar Valley! Still, the King of Ciders is, I'm afraid, from Devon. If you haven't tasted anything from Winkleigh (especially Autumn Mix Scrumpy), you haven't lived. Not of fan of Westons, find it leaves a strange taste in my mouth. Still, back to the weather - anyone from East Dorset about? Wanna tell me your snow depth? I bet it's more than the 2 inches up here...if that!
  11. We had that in Dorset in December - rain fell and froze on contact, leaving roads covered in a film of sheet ice. Led to a 40 car pile up. Looking at the models, although the synoptics look great, the feed isn't exactly frigid on some - surely we need retrogression to Greenland to bring in some more Arctic air to tap into?
  12. Yes, all saved in a notepad document, cheers! When you say chicken, do you mean a whole one? Surely not? When I saw it done (very basic recipe) it was using breast, though I'm willing to be corrected! The first step is often to wean them onto a fizzy real cider, like Thatchers Gold, Vintage or Katy. You know, get them over slowly. THEN assault with the rough stuff! If anyone's still drinking Magners out there, go and buy a Thatchers Gold. And don't add ice!
  13. To be fair, I thought we'd get a lot more, but the snowless centre of the trough stalled over Nottingham and we barely scraped an inch! I really do hope tomorrow's snow is a little more worthwhile, shaping up to be though!
  14. Did someone call? As it happens, I'm on the red wine tonight as well! And it is all about Devon cider! The occasional one from Somerset isn't bad, but Dorset produces some crackers! Who was drinking Cornish stuff? I hope it was Legless or Rattler... And for the person that said Irish... That's nearly as bad as Herefordshire. Though we do have some Gwatkin (from Hereford) downstairs I'm itching to try! Oh, to make the post vaguely on topic, it's not snowing atm in Nottingham, but we've got a lovely weather warning out! Maybe it was right to leave Dorset behind! Btw, to anyone in East Dorset, what are your snow depths? What am I missing? Risk of disruption Warning Valid from Valid to East Midlands:60% Derby60% Derbyshire60% Nottingham60% Nottinghamshire Heavy Snow 1800 Sun 10 1200 Mon 11 There is a high risk of severe weather affecting parts of northern England, the Midlands and eastern Wales. Outbreaks of snow developing on Sunday will become heavier and more persistent during late afternoon or evening and persistent through the night and into Monday morning. 5 to 15cm of fresh level snow is expected widely with 20-30cm locally. Drifting in the very strong winds will cause even greater accumulations in places. Disruption to transport networks and icing on power lines is possible. It is expected that this Early Warning will be superseded by Flash messages. Issued at: 1211 Sat 9 Jan
  15. Tomorrow is indeed good - you not seen the weather warning? 16. Ohhh...I missed the ladies part. Tool I am. Not at all! The only things worse than Magpies in my estimation are Southampton and Leeds, in that order! AFC Bournemouth fan, see. To make this weather relevant, there's some dandruff in the air. Just flakes buffeting in the wind, if you can call them flakes.
  17. Don't worry, just a South Western term of endearment! Oooh, I'm glad you're a Forest fan, rather than a Magpies fan. The Magpies have given us a lot of grief this season. I still don't think we've had any snow falling in Nottingham since my last update, though I have been eating dinner, so could be wrong. Either way, we have tomorrow to look forward to!
  18. Sorry my lover, nothing at this end of the A52.
  19. I just had a look for it now, can't find it! Might have to get a mod to drag it back up if we talk about cooking in banter enough again... I may be a student, but I also have standards!!!
  20. You know, I was thinking about steak and chips for tonight myself! Shame we haven't got enough room in the freezer to keep chips and peas though. Making to do with a nice Creamy Mushroom Chicken Tonight sauce to go with, er, chicken. And there's already a cooking thread! You'll have to look for it, called Cooking With Attitude, was in the Lounge Section. Oh and it's snowing lightly here. In Nottingham. I'm only here because I miss the South West when I'm up here at uni.
  21. May I refer gents to this post by Ian Fergusson in the South West thread, containing the latest NAE and looking quite nice for the Midlands in general!
