  1. Quite agree. Has been knife edge stuff for us this winter almost teasing us with a few cm's each time, have a feeling it is building us up for the big one possibly early middle next week during the first mild incursion. This winter so very similar to the one's back in the 70's though when sonw seemed to come without much warning. East has always been our best direction
  2. Still a lot of activity in the north sea, what is the wind like on the coast ?
  3. Met Office keep stopping short of inviting Northamptonshire to their snow parties but we keep annoyingly knocking on the door. Time will tell
  4. I never felt we were accepted as east midlanders more like that annoying little brother, this thread feels a lot more grown up already
  5. Is this promotion or demotion. Bit like the first day at school if I can remember that far back.
  6. Snow stopped. Yes I had a look at the model thread briefly this morning and the evidence does look pretty compelling. However, as one who has seen a few old school winters, of which this is most certainly one, the cold will retain it's grip and surprise everyone. Back in the day, once the cold was established as it now is, it usually meant that it was set to the end of January at least.
  7. snowing moderately here from one of the east coast showers temp -3.1c and dewpoint -5.1c
  8. Min overnight temp of -4c and currently -3c. Has the period of snow been downgraded for sunday it doesn't appear as potent on the charts that I have been looking at.
  9. Well said. I have, but only only ever in the mountains or higher regions. Very scary. All you can do it sit down and wait or dig in as I once had to in Scotland.
  10. Mild here last night compared to many others. Low of -6.1c at 05:38. Breeze from the NW making it feel bitter
  11. Temp currently -0.2c and dewpoint -2.4c. Both of these have been on a downward trend since 17:00
  12. Now have ~1cm at Moulton. Very wet snow that makes that crumpling sound when you walk on it. I think power cuts very likely with this type of snow, bringing down power cables and or tree limbs onto cables. Snowing steadily very small flakes but heavier area of ppn now very close.
  13. Hello Macey - Nice to see someone from Harpole, can get you to rescue mother-in-law if required
  14. Light snow on and off here since 06:30. Dusting on all surfaces. Temp -1.6c and dewpoint -3.8c. Very light breeze from SW and pressure 1004.5 and falling.
  15. Interesting to read in the Scottish thread that conservatories and guttering have been collapsing. As I have said before be careful what you wish for.
  16. Slight breeze from NNW has just given me a windchill of -9.8c. Temp now -4.7c and dewpoint of -6.7c
  17. South east group are going mental with regard to the depth of snow they are expecting Friday/Saturday. I havn't the heart to tell them it will probably shift north by 150 miles and inundate the midlands lol.
  18. Yes !! I will accept that Northants is in East Anglia and south east after that forecast haha
  19. Sunny blue skies, breeze from NE. Overnight low of -2.4c. Max so far today 1.3c which is the current temp. Dewpoint currently -1.8c
  20. Best post across all forums by a country mile. This post should be pinned at the start of each new page on each cold spell discussion.
