  1. Very heavy rain overnight and continuing, has now washed away all the snow. Temp rose during the night to a max of 5.1c and now at 3.5c with a stiff breeze from SE. Pressure falling and currently 1003.7
  2. Overnight minimum temp of -0.2c. Rain, heavy at times started 08:30, noticable breeze from SE making it feel very unpleasent. Current temp 1.3c and rain now stopped. Snow still lying in garden but path's now clear.
  3. Foggy start to the day, overnight low temp of 0.4c. Current temp of 0.4c and dewpoint of -1.2c. Ppn heading this way from the SE
  4. I am very pleased that they are not forecasting heavy snow for Northants. To often hopes built up only to be dashed, much prefer an non-forecasted surprise.
  5. Thanks for the link will check that out. Did a lot in Wales back in the day. Lakes is my stomping ground now with a few excursions north o'er the border
  6. Being a lover of winter climbing then the thaw freeze recycle is my favourite I shall be grateful if any of the Northampton posters will advise of the number of days there has been snow falling this winter. Thank you.
  7. Will be plenty of snow up in the peak district hills and many hundreds and me will be enjoying it rather than beating themselves up in front of a computer screen. Get out and enjoy what you've got
  8. Ditto. Will be plenty of snow up in the peak district hills and many hundreds and me will be enjoying it rather than beating themselves in front of a computer screen.
  9. I agree drifting snow could well be a significant problem later. I believe the MO has flash warnings for drifting snow, not often you see them in the south of England.
  10. Very accurate description. I would also add that you can barely stand up and certainly NOT ski. Mountain rescue will however go out in these conditions to attend to the foolhardy and that is why these forums are so important in educating people with regard to severe winter conditions no matter what the altitude.
  11. Nice try Lizzie. I agree with you. Whiteout reports are the ones that get me, very few will ever experience a true whiteout (trust me you don't want to) but I am sure there will be a few reports of them during next 2 days.
  12. I think we will see something this evening and overnight. That is certainly the impression that Sky News is giving at the moment.
  13. Good morning all. I have had some brief light showers overnight giving perhaps 1-2cm. Min temp of -3.6c Can someone please indicate on satellite the general direction that todays showers are from. Thank you.
  14. Now snowing quite steadily decent sized flakes. Temp -2.6c
  15. the blobs are giving you a coded messaage "move north move north "
  16. Looks like parts of north east Scotland are getting a nice top together with northern pennines and the lake district
  17. Surely that nice blob heading for NN3 cannot miss this time ?
  18. If I get the chance I know I will be taking it have dilly dallied to long and clock is ticking
  19. Know how you feel always feel most at home in the Lake District, but have a business to run down here, c'est la vie
  20. http://www.mwis.org.uk/mountain/LD.PDF This is weather site that most climbers check first and suggest strong easterly winds saturday into sunday and snow showers for for southern pennines. Supports TEITS forecast for the snow to further north.
  21. Yes I was watching that as well. It came from the east side of the wash. I think we need showers more from the west side of the wash. Are direction of the showers due to change later ?
