Whereas the fronts bringing the current snowfall will decay over the next 24 hours, looking at the direction and strength of the wind and the line up of the isobars suggest North Sea streamers setting up or possibly troughs or small low pressure systems. Potentially a lot more snow to fall. Currently about 5cm here and snowing steadily. Very strong winds blowing snow around.
I am certainly not disappointed with met office forecast and I dare say neither are our friends in the north. This was always going to be a northern event becoming more marginalised the further south or east you came. This is exactly what happened. This was never set in stone for this area. It also proves how nowcasting is the only reliable with snow.

Now off to enjoy the snow and ice where it should be - in the hills and mountains.
Met office forecast for the NW, for Friday, issued at 03:57 i.e. after the 00z's still paints a very wintry picture hmmmm, let confusion reign or hopefully snow
