Hi Dave,
Nice looking streamer setting up to the NW of the Isle of Man on a direct line with the Cheshire gap if it has the energy to make that far. A very interesting night of radar watching. Was always going to be the case in such an unstable set up and I am sure more surprises to follow over the next few days
Other than uppers not being quite as low as they should be this has all the looks of a classic polar low http://www.sat24.com/?culture=en which has produced yellow warnings for high winds in the south west as it barrels down the Irish Sea, hopefully will produce some surprises overnight
now snowing very hard, gone very dark, red pixels still on course, falling pressure alarm just gone off on weather station, dewpoint minus 0.2c and temp 2.9c
Still day one of current cold period plenty of snow opportunities and a few of them will will unexpected. For those bemoaning their luck or indeed the more knowledgeable adhering to charts and forecasts ... expect the unexpected woooohooo
When asking an old experienced climber many many years ago of the following days weather prospects was cut down by his pithy reply of "look up" !! I must admit the sky currently just doesn't look right for snow. I'll get me coat.
You are right. I should have called it a disturbance. Experience has taught me however that with strong winds involved, temperatures can easily be reduced by a few degrees. One can hope.
New yellow warnings issued for snow and ice for all of the midlands for tonight and tomorrow lol dont you just love the weather
Showers from the west continue to break up before reaching here, a biting wind continues with wind generally from SW
Wrong !
Polar low on the way tonight, channel lows and slider lows very possible and beast from the east at end of many runs
Chin up lol
Failing that get on a train to higher ground
