  1. No rain showing on Keswick Met Office forecast for the next week. Surely that must warrant a hosepipe ban up here
  2. Hammering it down again (metrological technical term) the local waterfalls and rivers will be impressive in a few hours. Loving natures own defence to the more undesirable visitors.
  3. It has been raining on and off in this part of the lake district since 7pm last night, rain has been recorded during every hour, 13mm in total. Clouds suggest more to come.
  4. Chilly overnight, down to 5.9c in the northern lake district. Sunny blue skies start, cloud now building.
  5. 5 yes 5 F15's playing chase in the northern lake district this morning so low and so fast went over my place twice
  6. 5.3mm of rain yesterday and 6.3mm of rain so far today. The lakes being nicely topped up. For those starting their holidays don't been downhearted there is so much to do up here even when a little damp.
  7. You'll be fine the mountains make their own mind up about the weather. Have a great time. I will be out in them whatever the weather
  8. 33.4c in the lake district at the moment air filled with the noise of complaining sheep
  9. Although my weather station not met office standard, a Davis Vantage Pro just down the road in Portinscale got 31.4c which is probably more accurate then mine. Interestingly my current reading is 26.8c and Portinscale is 27.4c.
  10. 26c in the northern lake district at 0830 is difficult to believe but it's happening. The connection to the internet had to be turned off for an hour late yesterday afternoon to let it cool down and my max temp was 33c. Mountain rescue teams are fearful but at least it's not the weekend and the children not yet on summer holidays. Good luck everyone, stay in the shade and drink plenty of water. Another survivor of 1976 when I worked on a building site during the summer break from college
  11. So thankful for today's wet conditions in the lake district which will hopefully save us from the idiots and their disposable BBQ's that will descending on the park on the next few days.
  12. Coming from the often stifling hot midlands. I just love these Cumbrian heatwaves
  13. I can report my high max for the month today of 21.9c unbroken sunshine all day beautiful
  14. Agreed but loving every single minute of it here in the northern lakes. The colours, and cloudscapes even in the foulest of weather are breath-taking. The landscapes scrubs quite well too
  15. Heavy rain now edging into the northern lake district all nearby fells have disappeared into the mist and clouds. Temp at 19.0c from a high of 19.4c
  16. Having lived most of my life in the hot and sultry south this is a real delight in the cool and windy northern lake district. Sunny at present having had some light overnight rain. Temp is currently 16.1c after overnight low of 13.8 but still very pleasant to sit outside. Wind is quite strong which will make for watchful conditions on the tops. High clouds now but excellent visibility and all tops are clear. Pressure falling as rain band over Scotland edges south.
