  1. Probably being unrealistic for where I am, but the precip on the radar is moving a bit NE at the moment.. (I presume that was predicted?). Looks like South Wales could get some if it carried on like that…
  2. I am not anywhere near as knowledgable as most on here, but given how snow has fallen with very little notice and forecast where I am, maybe anything is possible!
  3. Yeah fair enough.. but there’s hasn’t been a snowfall like this in the Cotswolds for years, all the schools are shut - and it really came as surprise. Only hours before it happened it looked like there might be dusting from a few showers overnight. And away from roads etc this is the slowest ‘thaw’ I’ve seen! Sorry to those who’ve not had..
  4. I see the snowfall in the SE and London is all over the news, even on this site! Which is great, but there’s still 6 inches of frozen snow in my garden - not really heard my area mentioned on the news at all!
  5. Second day frost hasn’t melted in shade at this end of the Cotswolds.. been a few winters since that’s happened. Just need to get some unstable air in now for some snow! Could do with an extra layer insulation on my roof..
  6. Anyone else wish this was channel low in the middle of a proper cold winter? A lot of us would be buried!
  7. Epic rain here! Just had a good flash (of lightning) and a low rumble, not expecting much else, but the impressive rain almost making up for it… almost.
  8. Well I can hear thunder v quietly some miles away, think it’s gonna miss me here, but the radar is a thing of beauty none the less!
  9. For anyone worried about the storms going just north from Devon, I wouldn’t… I’ve been keeping an eye on those as I’m working outside. They started out as a line of storms at the far tip of Cornwall, and are building up as they travel both east and north - looks like the warnings for later could be pretty accurate!
  10. I can guess what the residents of Foc-Foc said when that happened!
  11. Same in Stroud! Had a little heavy rain late morning, you’d never know now, even dust has dried out to dust again… little storms popping up around Stroud, but no direct hit likely a the moment…
  12. Hey Man, feel your pain.. been 3 years for me for a proper storm… but tbh the risk assessments for thunderstorms are a usually about right - all potential medium/high severity, but low possibility... The last epic lightshow I saw was in 2019, and the ‘possibility’ was lower than today.. but the potential severity was very much reached when it actually happened! Thunderstorms are like snow - never expect it regardless of charts and warnings… and when it does happen you’ll be v happy. Short circuits the need for pi$$ed-off-ness! (Mostly…)
  13. Day ain’t done yet! Sure maybe not storms, and they may not reach you, but assuming I got the postcode right they’re near you… good luck!
  14. Sounds right to me too… potent showers all around me, and a few flashes of lightning…. I guess there was a ‘risk’ any of these could have been more electrified.
  15. For what it’s worth, clouds are thinning well here… they were fairly heavy and dark earlier, now the sun is nearly visibly though them..
  16. Sun’s having a go in Stroud… I know it’s not as hot, but I’m out cutting hedges today, humidity is a killer now! Storm potential certainly feels high…
  17. IMBY but liking today’s storm forecast! Seen one distant flash of lightning and heard 2 rumbles of thunder all of this year so far..
  18. Well I’m disappointed as not had a decent (even short lived) storm this year yet… but I took the Met warning for what it was - ‘unlikely’. Glad I saw that really, I can get on with my evening now!
  19. Sun has finally come out in Stroud as well after some brief light rain… it’s pretty humid here (though not compared to those crazy summer days I remember in the 90’s!). Hopefully there’s enough useful energy left in the sun to produce something here. We shall see!
  20. Thanks for that explanation, very helpful. With regards to the 2 charts shown, and the weather warning issued by the Met, am I right in saying the areas where the cloud bases/tops are shown is where clouds are likely to form at that time, and then move north and east? The warning covers most of the midlands…. Thanks
  21. Shame it’s not electrified! Feels autumnal with this lot, crazy temp difference from yesterday… still ‘feels’ stormy though, can’t quantify it, but wouldn’t be surprised by random flash or bang. Looking SW for any possibilities, you never know..
  22. No need to apologise, that’s the second one I’ve seen today and it’s made me laugh twice! All good….
