  1. Starting to feel cold outside now, with wind chill -2.6C
  2. good enough for snow, but now we need the upper air to play ball, and drop a few more C otherwise its like drizzly rain or freezing rain at best.
  3. it looks to me like back fill from the Irish sea..also it seems to me the front as stalled.
  4. They are beginning to drop away just as you wrote that lol
  5. Temperature is now finally dropping Temp 1.6C dp 1.2C currently there is no precipitation
  6. Temp 2.6C dp 2.3C drastically different from yours to say the least.
  7. it was his thoughts that despite the initial forecast, that there was a chance for some snow later. I remain unconvinced. These temperatures and dp's are just too high, the upper air isn't helping matters either. -5C, I have yet to see any snow fall at that upper air temp. here we normally require -8c/-9C probably because of the affect the irish sea. suspect if things do not improve in the next few hourts, then its going to be rain showers throughout.
  8. I am not liking what I am seeing on this 5 minute radar.
  9. There is every chance, liverpool airport have it changing to snow anywhere from 8/10pm onwards.
  10. you are just not looking at the big picture. There is a lot more to come this evening, and the Irish sea is pepping up quite a bit, this is going to continue at least overnight, the problem we have right now here in the west is the dew points, being well above freezing, but in any heavy precipitation that will fall like a brick from the sky. The snow over our region is not forecast until much tonight, what you are seeing is not the end of it.
  11. it is pepping up over the Irish sea, and will continue that. The band of snow is in a very narrow band which is about 15 miles to the east of where I live, so about 30 miles from the coast to try and give it some geography. and it seems to only stretch about 50/60 miles to the east.
  12. Sorry was in a rush, wrong way around it is 3C dp is 2.8C# Light rain changing to light to moderate snow later this evening Liverpool airport weather forecast.
  13. Temp 2.8C Dew Point 3C 850' hpa -5 Dew point far too high.
  14. I have always maintained that for us imby we need at least -8C/-9C 850's, so i share your sentiment. Otherwise -5/-6C is good enough for much of the UK
  15. I do and still use for the forecast. Will not speak to him until early afternoon. Spoke briefly this morning, before some of the main models updated..was convinced for a snow event with no rain, but that is prob going to change
  16. Should have been written 0C (-0.4C is closer to 0C), which the dp is being recorded as. Temperature ditto. Both stations reporting same information. I think there is a really good chance for moderate to heavy snow showers down here this evening, things falling into place nicely. Lets see what happens during the day, going to be few snow showers around.
  17. Temperature dropped below freezing to -2.3C. Current temperature -0.7C. Dew point -0.4C 850hpa Temp -6C Barometer 1030mb Current Conditions: Cloud 6/8 Oktas, Dry Liverpool Airport Initially Haze then a rain to snow event.: EGGP 160506Z 1606/1706 13006KT 9999 SCT025 PROB40 1606/1612 5000 HZ TEMPO 1617/1703 4000 -RASN BKN006 PROB30 TEMPO 1617/1703 RASN BKN002 TEMPO 1703/1706 5000 BR BKN008 Forecaster rain to snow, depending on how fast the rain passes through could fall as snow rather then rain under current conditions
  18. Temperature 4.8C Dew Point -2.6C Wind Chill 0C Current Weather: Clear Overnight dew point was at 3.7C, heavy and torrential rain showers. Eased of around 3am, but dp remained at 3.7C. This morning a few more rain showers, temperature well above freezing along with dp. Once all the precipitation moved there, the dp rapidly dropped of to what is now, but the temperature as climbed slightly in the last 30 minutes to 4.8C from 2.4C around 2 hours ago. Forecast : Rain / snow showers. Liverpool Airport TAF TAF EGGP 141105Z 1412/1512 32014KT 9999 SCT020 TEMPO 1412/1415 33017G27KT PROB30 TEMPO 1421/1506 4000 SHRASN BKN008 Other outlets say any rain will turn to snow. Which if the dp stays below freezing and enough precip is around its a given.
  19. The most remarkable thing about these past 2 winters, are how severe it's been across North America...and across Scandinavia with large snow fall amounts, yet as is typical here, a dreary boring winter, which was marginally better than last year. Last year saw no snowfall at all (imby) and never even saw a frost at night. This year we have had 8 frost nights, snowed on 26 december 14, for a grand total of 4 hours with about 6cm at most, after it had stopped snowing , it was gone within an hour. The cold has not been 'cold' as in below freezing during any days this past winter. Which makes it also the second winter without a frost day. periodic light snow showers that barely covered the ground, and in sweden that would be called frost not snow haha Anyway, we are fast approaching from my perspective the end of winter, and one last chance to actually give us more than the 6cm we have had over the entirely of winter, which is a bit pathetic to say the least. Even spain has out performed us easily in the snow department, zaragoza saw the deepest snow ever recorded there. Even Sevilla in the South has been colder. I am dubious about any further cold spells, since they have failed to materialize in the last couple of weeks, despite forecasts claiming otherwise. Statistically we have a better chance of a white easter than a white christmas, but again of course that is a stupid claim if you live up a very large hill in the far north of england. If the cold really does arrive in the coming week, here is to hoping we get a good dumping of snow, its starting to feel to much like tropical
  20. as winters go for this part of the region, quite poor actually depending where you are (south west). 4 frost nights, 1 snow day (snowed for 45 min and not very much either 2 cm, snow lasted 2 hours on the ground and was gone) and 1 night where it snowed gave up and tried again gave less than a cm of snow, gave up and then those 2 frosts nights the last 2 nights. with a realistic window of about 4 weeks remaining to this winter, and the snow seemingly as far away as ever, i just cannot see anything materializing that will actually give us anything. in fact this weather is down right boring. The forecast for here for the rest of the week is temperatures climbing to around 5/6C by day already nearly 6C and temperatures staying above freezing by night.. with snow to our west across ireland and snow to our east across the central part of the country...pretty much where its been most of the time the last week or so. It is possible, there might be something again if the temps drop overnight and we get the right direction but thats a big if. the point i made above highlighted exactly. It could be on top of us, and it wouldn't matter, that has been proven repeatedly this winter. i have no idea at what temperature the irish sea is, but it seems to me it is warmer than it normally is, with amount of warm or mild air coming at us from the sea, its been remarkable really given the average temperatures around us..given how poor its been to pep up any showers, even in a direct flow towards us from the northwest.
  21. temperature as dropped to -2.3C very quickly and dew point stable at -2.9C not changed in over 2 hours. Precip looks to now be building much more than it did a few hours ago
  22. Low ground, around the south of the region, pretty much forget it tonight. Still be a few low clouds and similar temperatures to last night. Tomorrow morning, we might and thats a big 'if' right now, if we still have really low dp's when the precip tries to slip in from the west we might see some snow, it depends on the irish sea and what it wants to do
  23. it was partly to mostly cloudy after 2am last night, with a very light breeze from the west, and we still have that very light breeze. so there is no chance in hell that we could really get beyond what we did, and that only occurred before it clouded up and that breeze started up
  24. temperature now at 0.8C seems steady for the moment dew point -0.8C
  25. Temp -1.8°C rising quickly Dew Point -2.8°C rising quickly Current conditions Wind 2m/s west Sky 8/8 Oktas completely cloudy
