  1. Lowest recorded here was -5.2°C at 2:45am We keep getting passing clouds and the temperature shoots up to 0.3C then slowly drops again. Currently -2.8°C dropping again
  2. palms can do well in sub arctic conditions depending on the variety but most that grow in spain for example can easily survive the winters in the Northwest of england..even with snow.
  3. Well this cold is is disappointing, was hoping for actual cold. Temp -1.2C and rising Dew Point -3.4 and rising Humidity 87% Barometer: 1006.1 hpa steady Wind: North North East 0 mph Windchill -1.3C now mostly cloudy. Precipiation today: rain 0.3mm Forecast for Monday, mostly cloudy, high around 4C very disappointing winter. lack of snowfall compared to most places, except the wirral. low temperatures are hardly low at all day time max 4/5C, This is the tropics compared to pretty much any other country around us, and still the trashy headlines remain...whens it going to end this cold? well its not cold, so lets think about that when the cold arrives after a few weeks, or you know, go to tenerife where it much warmer
  4. latest west european satllite i think the meto yellow warning nationwide is a little bit overkill, and sensationalist. I bet the chances for are well below the 60% mark and some one who does not want to work on sunday just wrote that crap so they wouldn't have to and it covers all bases
  5. There maybe a few showers later on tonight 'if' there is a wind change to the Northwest, the dew points should stay below freezing, so there is always a small outside chance, especially if we see any organized bands of snow. Personally I would be surprised, if outside of any northwesterly wind change, we see anything but partly cloudy skies, that may clear from time to time, which should allow temperatures to drop. we live in a sheltered area of the world, and need some help to get the snow here, but first we it would be nice if we see the temperatures around the region drop more. Not sure if we will really get rid of some of the lowish cloud (568m). partly cloudy.
  6. no it was not it was an easterly cold wind, with a moist conditions from the southwest, which pushed up and hit the frigid cold air. later it turned into a northeasterly. but the snow we got was a combination of very cold air mass from the east and precipitation from the southwest. we got nothing, the pennines sucked up all the moisture. The streamer that occurred was after the easterly. and was indeed from the northwest. but it was an exceptional set up, probably once in a life time. which is kind of sad lol The biggest 2 snowfalls for liverpool where winter 99/2000 with a polar low dumped several meters across the region, and then we had the winter 2009/10 east + sw snow, which was later topped up from a nw airflow which created the streamer, we still had the cold from the east bizarrely enough
  7. I would be very surprised if we see anything beyond clear dry overnight leading to hard ground frosts. The pattern is always dry from northerly, never ever seen it deliver anything but dry and cold weather, bit like an easterly rarely if ever delivers anything certainly by the time it reaches west cheshire. I just think this entire thing is a non event.
  8. unless the entire country ends up swamped in endless snow, i do not see much from this if anything. Horrible direction to expect snow..by the time it reaches us down there is generally no snow left, since the mountains , high terrain drain the clouds. a rule of thumb i always see to this as well, is the east always fairs better than the west too.

  10. this is actually lingo for pilots. 30% is the worst met get out clause ever and it means unlikely to happen, but if you sit there and do nothing and nothing happens its your fault. 40% is likely to happen, but if you take off and something happens , don't blame us. this is why you generally do not see anything above this values just the lingo of the taf lol
  11. what is interesting is the sudden drop in the dp, now at -0.4C and the temperature at 2.7C, it is sudden because the dp dropped from 4.7C 20 minutes ago.
  12. 546 dam line from Greenland to to the UK some real cold to come me thinks and so Monday does look cold still, backed up by the fax
  13. we have had no hail, no snow just a few light rain showers, just far to mild this afternoon are you in north of the city or south?
  14. I would love to see a really deep cold easterly develop, then get some moisture from the south west and watch the snow, but that's just me i never read the papers these days, i mean come on its barely even cold when it hits 6/7C, god forbid if day time temperatures where -5/-10C by day like they where a few years ago. One of the things i hate about this country and its retarded 'no news' story invented cold winters. thats entertainment folks, with little to no substance Monday was originally looking very cold a couple of days ago on the GFS
  15. last post tonight, temperature as dropped to -1.3C and continuing to fall away dew point -0.7C goodnight all
  16. 4.2cm measured, we have extremely light snow, but its coming to an end, sky is still orange though eyes open with that snowband coming south from scotland, it is pepping up and its getting bigger as it moves south, interesting. from nothing but rain to 4cm of snow when it looked impossible not long ago, well brilliant..now lets see martinez pull of his master stroke lol
  17. that last image is not more than 2cm at most lol
  18. i am going out to measure, i would not be surprised if we had 2 inches or 5cm at all, its just coming down like crazy now
  19. i can tell you this much, looking at the radar it appears that the snow over us really wants to stay with us hahaha
  20. nice to see the cheshire gap doing its job
  21. got 2.5 cm so far, not much really, but better than the 2mm rain 2 hours earlier bright orange sky too, wonder if we can make 3cm before it does off
  22. for me its decided to start coming down heavier than it did before, slightly bigger flakes
  23. is it my imagination or is that band of snow across scotland pepping up and moving towards the west as it moves south? I been watching it for a while, and just seems bigger than it was before and it seems to be heading this way, but slowly
  24. i bet stoke has done really well from this, much better than us. snow becoming lighter, another few minutes and it will end i suspect. Well at least most of us if not all, got some snow cover if only for a short time, which is better than stephen's horrible rain hahaha
