  1. Och dam! Mixing up my Chewing the Fat jokes! "EVERYBODY ON THE GROUND! GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!!!!! "Wait! Wait! I'm from Kilmacolm." "Oh, sorry sir, you can leave." I'm in north Kelvinside *cough, Maryhill* and it's settling? Where abouts are you?
  2. Definitely! Great area you live in, enjoying the sneachd? It's looking very good for your area over the next couple of days!
  3. Heavy snow for tomorrow and Friday now forecast for Inverness
  4. OK I've resisted for months but here it goes: Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! Kilmacolm!!! I'm hoping you've seen what I'm talking about?
  5. I'm heading home to goold old Sneck tomorrow night, looking forward to it now! I visit it often in summer, love how the Highlands has such a contrast between the steep peaks of the west, the machair and beaches of the isles, the bleak landscape of Sutherland, but my favourite is probably the mountainous forest area in which you live Are you a native or a white settler (which is a joke, obviously )
  6. Never noticed we had a Glen Strathfarrer until now! hello!
  7. Gah! Hardly any snow in Glasgow but by the looks of the live webcam Inverness has lying snow already!
  8. Guess it's time for a new thread, just as the snow arrives! http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/61815-scottish-cold-spell-discussion/
  9. -19'C currently in parts of the Scottish Highlands
  10. -5'c in parts of Eilean Siar, it's a cold one alright
  11. Chilly morning, -9.7'C with windchill of -14'C.
  12. A minus -14'C windchill for Inverness, no thank you!
  13. If we were to split in two, why not just the Highlands and Islands / Lowlands and Souther Uplands? Approximately half and half, topography separated out quite well too
  14. Feasgar math bho Glaschu - hope all is well in London town!
  15. Aye that was Altnaharra, that was old Donald Macleod or someone I mind. -30'C would be unreal! -3'C in Inverness, 6'C drop in just over an hour.
  16. Aye when you consider that Braemar's weather station is actually in the centre of the village, I'd imagine that just outside the settlement in some small glens -30'C must have been reached. Woah that's a lot to take in lol 1: Yes in terms of absolute minimum, this winter has not been anything particularly impressive. 2: I don't know about the micro-climates of the Arctic, although I'd imagine that as the record minimum is only about a 6'C departure from the average low, there must be very little in the way of large temperature differences which can be found in the space of 100 miles such as in Scotland or Norway for example. The Arctic is essentially just a very cold desert after all. 3. The Scottish Highlands went from a quite a densely populated region to a very sparsely populated region in the 19th century. Nowadays it is of course very sparsely populated and I'd imagine that most of the coldest spots in the Highlands are probably missed?
  17. Is it? Sunday through to Tuesday looks very interesting for most of Scotland. I reckon that some of the higher parts of Gleann Mòr might reach around -20'C, Tulloch Bridge looks like it might pull it off. As an aside, I was reading an interesting article which was discussing that parts of Strathspey might have actually reached -30'C in past cold spell but due to lack of weather stations this has gone missed.
  18. True, days below freezing are not that uncommon in Scotland in March, especially in the Highlands and there's often a considerable cold snap in March.
  19. I seem to be having a war over controlling the Inverness Web cam with some one, is it one of you snow-watching?
  20. Aww! At least you got a great winter to see you out and a final day of snow to be off to! Hope travel is fine for you though. Hope you enjoyed your time in our wee Highland city, I guess it's tioraidh a' Ghàidhealtachd for now Don't be a stranger!
  21. This isn't farewell for good I hope? You're one of only....3 Invernessians?
