  1. I thought you were talking about the upcoming North Westerly for a second there!
  2. BBC have forecast heavy snow for Inverness on Saturday, good first step
  3. Where in Inverness do you live? It's snowed several times since then
  4. Getting very cold around the Moray Firth and in the Highlands. -7'C in Kinloss, Lossiemouth, Tulloch Bridge and Altnaharra, maybe a -10'C tonight!
  5. That figure certainly doesn't apply to the Scottish Highlands...does it mean London?
  6. http://www.highlandhouseoffraser.com/web-cam-inverness.asp Just off the phone to my dad, -6'C with freezing fog in the back garden in Inverness. This normally happens if the winds die down under high pressure, it's happened three years running now - cold pooling around the Moray Firth.
  7. Lovely run for the Highlands of Scotland there, we'd be having a good traditional run up to Christmas with snow like that Anyway, that's just eye candy. The synoptics are almost set in stone, we can comfortably say that we are about to head into a nice cold spell. I wouldn't be disappointed about the apparent breakdown in FI, it's the reliable time frame that we are concerned with and it's behaving very, very well
  8. Cheers for that Yeti, long time no speak - hope you are well! And aye, that is one monster of a run - we can dream.
  9. Is it at all possible to view the parallel run somewhere? If not, someone fancy posting just a single chart to show me what all the excitement is? Anyway, this run continues the trend, it seems to all be about the short waves and how they develop. We need that high to move north too!
  10. ECM at T168 has the high moving in the right direction Great model concensus prior as well!
  11. I really cannot help but sit and smile at what the GFS 12z would deliver for the Scottish Highlands right before Christmas, it would be brilliant - it will never happen though
  12. From a quick look, I think the coldest temperatures were about... Large Urban: Edinburgh, -5'C Urban: Inverness, -6'C (-7.2'C IMBY) Rural: Aboyne, -7'C Glens etc: Loch Glascarnoch (Front moving in, was it colder earlier?) Eskdalemuir -7'C
  13. I'm still open to anything on this subject, as it is very early days. Although I believe that what we do has a strong influence on the enviroment around us, I'm not entirely convinced that the same can be said for climate. The push for a greener world is still a positive thing, without a doubt. Switching from fossil fuels to natural and sustainable forms of energy is sensible in my opinion and if it gains extra credibility from a false fear of climate change, then that might not necessarily be a bad thing.
  14. Wind: 0 mph Temp: 1.1 'C Dew: 0'C Visibility: 400-500 metres
  15. I got a great show for about half an hour just after midnight of the 12th up at the Slochd summit. The skies were completely clear, moon was hidden behind a cloud in the distance and there was absolutely no light pollution or people for miles and miles except from my family (it was a tiny bit Texas Chainsaw Massacre-ish though). Really, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one.
  16. Did they change the date of Lughnasadh? Where I'm from, it's on the 1st of August? There's Imbolc, Beltaine and Samhain too and I'm fairly sure there also at the start of the different month (November, May and Februray respectively).
  17. Possibly the best part of the UK in terms of nature, along with maybe the North West Highlands <_<
  18. I think the word you're looking for is sycophantic, although pyschophantic might not be too far removed for some folk on here
  19. Settle petal, I wasn't making a dig, I too was making a point - the most recent hot spell was not foreseen by 3 weeks, so it's not all doom and gloom for the rest of July. The GEFS is showing signs of high pressure building though.
  20. How bizzare, suddenly we've all become long range forecasters? I'm finding it difficult to look beyond 14thish, let alone make a solid statement about the rest of the month.
  21. 27.2'C in my garden the day! Bit of a rogue scorcher this?
  22. A lovely 26'C here with sunshine, getting increasingly muggy however.
  23. I believe 30'C has been hit? Very, very heavy rain and thunderstorms in Inverness with dewpoint of 19'C
