An area on private land near to where i live was throwing up dust when the car drove over it today. This is usually observed only in the summer months and in long periods of dry weather. It certainly has dried up hugely since the snow meltwater dissapeared.
A fantastic start to the day with cloudless blue skies and early spring sun. Generally a slow clouding over process throughout the day. Overnight low was 0.4C so grass/cars were white over early on but this soon melted in the sun. Light rain at 5pm.Top temp 9.1C and currently 6.1C
I shall watch this even though it will be "sexed up"-lets face it, what on TV nowadays isnt? I was pleased with the snow myself, from when it started to when it all dissapeared, 14 days had lapsed.
The pic from the original poster is fantastic. It looks like a mountain poking out of low cloud (if you look at the pic upside down!) The rest of the pics are equally interesting. Very striking colours. Really good snaps guys. Thanks for sharing.
I think the last 2 summers have been an odd occasion and i don't believe they really represent any trend. The main reason why 2007 was bad was simply the Jet Stream was too far South and didnt retreat north like it was supposed to. Anyway, i hate the heat (30C+) but i would love a summer with blue sky summer days with low 20s heat.
A nice day here with a lot of blue sky sunshine although the wind was a bit nippy and seemed to be coming from the North? Anyway it has been a lovely day with a top temp of 9C. Currently 5.1C with just a gentle breeze.
Horrible day today with endless murk, no wind and on the mild side. At least when its cold you are welcomed to a lovely rimey scene like that around new year! Temp at midnight last night was 7C. The poor CET will take a battering-I just hope the hint of a cold spell materialises. Top temp today-9.5C with RH 75% and stable.
Mainly dry today although just a little patchy drizzle amounting to nothing. No real wind to speak of. Very overcast all day and feeling quite COLD outside for any length of time despite temps hovering at 9C. A funny feeling mild!
Got down to nearly -4C last night but the cloud came rolling in around dawn and has stubbornly persisted all day. This really pegged the temps back-only 2.2C today compared to yesterdays 6.6C in the sun. Really felt bitingly cold today with a chilly breeze. Currently the temps and wind speed are on the rise, despite relatively clear skies.
Nothing here, just cloudy which suppressed the daytime temps making it feel really cold. Well i tell a lie, there was a light snow shower at around 3.45pm-thats it!
Looks like the PPN has just started to move SE but it still looks asthough the W.mids will see another hour of snow and the East Mids lightly more. Still heavy snow here
